1. I can hardly wait I feel like it will change my life ! I really need this tool. I have tried everything and always regained my weight only to weigh more each time. Any one else getting banded in June ?

    Kim

Welcome Kim!! Everyone on this particular thread is being banded in June. It's so exciting!!! I can't believe how fast it's coming up!!!

  2. Just needed to vent. I thought I was scheduled for a lapband seminar required by the surgeon I want to use. Turns out, I had the date wrong. It was last night, and I was out of town until last night for work. I wrote on my calendar that it was tonight.

This is the second one I've missed because I travel with my job. They only do the seminar once a month. I will not have to travel anymore for the rest of the summer. I cannot get a consultation with the dr. until I attend the seminar. I have attended one at another hospital, and it was a waste of my time. I have learned more by being on the web site than I did at the seminar.

I started crying when I got off the phone because this is another month I have to wait to even get things rolling. I know there will be a lot of insurance paperwork and requirements that will take time. Because I'm not traveling again until after the summer, I was hoping to get the surgery done this summer.

If I don't do the surgery this summer, I will probably have to wait until next summer to have it. That's another year of being obese and unhealthy. I am ready for a change!! I feel so sad right now.

Thanks for listening to my venting!!

I'm sorry :( The same thing happened to me in reverse...I showed up a night too early!!! I already had committments for the night of the seminar. I called the office and explained...they let me skip the seminar and come in for the consultation. I'm guessing since you talked to them on the phone already, you tried to get them to let the seminar slide. Perhaps if you persisted, they'd make an exception, especially since you already attended a seminar elsewhere. MAYBE they'd consult with you if you promised to go to the next seminar??? I know it's a little backwards, but it's a thought.

I hope you don't have to wait another month. I know how difficult the waiting can be!

  3. Thank you all for responding. We have been together almost 3 years. Last night he told me he was sorry for hurting my feelings. He just wants me to be happy and enjoy life without the weight dragging me down. That is what I want exactly! I am lucky that even over 400 pounds, I don't have any serious health problems...yet. I have to lose this weight soon or I will. I have another appointment tomorrow with the Lap-Band surgeon. Hopefully I will get a surgery date. (Please say a prayer that I do.) As for my food addiction, I am taking it one day at a time. Again, thank you all for giving me your feedback and support.

Hi Cajun! I'm glad you and your BF got things sorted out. I think I know what he's saying in some respect. My husband is 430lbs and it affects his life in every way. He can't sit in booths, he breaks furniture, he has trouble sleeping, he has to get belt extenders on the plane, he gets made fun of by insensitve kids, he gets winded and breaks a sweat with the simplest of tasks. He recently started walking with me and can only go it a block at a time right now. Its sad, because I see a wonderful, caring, handsom, man of integrity. All he can see is his fat. It really "gets in the way" of our relationship. He feels so terrible about himself that it keeps us from doing things we would otherwise be doing. Sometimes its a matter of him not physically being able to do it, other times it's too embarrassing for him to do it...like go to Disney and ride a scooter around the parks. We're going to Disney in March 08. We are fully expecting 100 pounds to be gone off of him and 75 off of me! No scooters for us! We're going to ride the rides with our kids and walk their little feets off!!! You will too!

I think after being together for 3 years, your BF loves you for you. Now start loving yourself and take care of your health. Maybe I'll see you in Disney!!! Best of luck to you!

  4. Thanks for the crossed fingers and toes ;) I'm not too concerned. I'm guessing my doc, a real nut job, will put me on a broad spectrum antibiotic and re-check my blood in a week. I'm sure it will work out. I'm just glad it was found in time to do something about it.

Right now I am seriously steamed with my insurance provider! Long story short, they've been processing my claims as out of network, when they're all IN network!! They FINALLY admitted to the computer error and are going through our entire family's bills since 1/01/07 to adjust them! Looks like they're going to owe me some money!!! But dang, these bills are driving me nutz!! I know, be grateful I'm not self pay...and I am...I'm just worried that I'll now have a life time of these head aches because of needed fills and blood work more often and such. BUT, if I don't get my weight under control, it's only a matter of time before I'm getting LOADS of doctor's bills for weight related disease! OK...enough rambling...

KT...let us know how your appt goes today :(

**edit** My PCP was really cool!!! He had a copy of my test results there and said he thought slightly elevated blood cell count was a bunch of of “hoo-ey” and that I probably had a little bug and that my count wasn’t high enough to cause worry. He repeated the urinalysis to make sure I didn’t have a UTI, but said he refused to do a bunch of tests when he can see I’m fine! SO, he’s signing off on the surgery and I’m all set!!! <?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />

  5. Congratz on the date! You'll get your pre-op diet instructions at your pre-op visit. I also get sick from general anesthesia. I told the hospital this and will make sure to tell the anesthesiologist prior to surgery as well. They give a shot of something that helps with that. My surgeon said that the band is most vulnerable during the first six weeks, so follow the diet plan to the letter to try to keep vomiting to a minimum ;)

Join us over in the June 2007 thread :(

  6. I have a $300 deductible (which I reached LONG ago) then 10% after up to a maximum of $1500 for the year. I'm getting billed after the insurance pays their portion. I guess Wisconsin folks are more trusting, cuz in Delaware (where I'm from) I would have had to pay my portion up front.

My insurance stinks though, because they have YET to pay ONE bill properly!! I've had to call on every single bill to get them to submit it correctly! It's been a nightmare cuz both hubby and I are doing LapBand!

  7. musicalmomma,

How did your tests go today? I emailed my surgical coordinator asking about all the pre tests and she said all doctors are different and if I did not have chronic problems then the doctor would not order them. I will see on Monday what the doctor tells me. I am anxious to have that visit! After I meet with the doctor I go to an informational class, dietary class and behavior modification class. They say I will be there from 3-8 PM. My husband is required to attend too, which I am glad so he can hear the information as well. Then on Thursday, May 24, I go back for my pre-registration, lab work and physical. It mentions nothing about tests. My surgery is at 2 PM on June 7, so I am not sure if I am spendig the night or not?? What did your doctor say today?

Under the surgery information it says not to eat or drink after midnight like any other procedure, so I will be interested to hear on Monday if I have to be on a liquid diet for a week prior. If not, I will ask the theory behind it and why other doctors do it?? I dont' want him to nick an organ! I to feel like I have gained weight, maybe I am trying to eat what ever since my life will change, I still eat healthy and don't go nuts.

Hello to all other june bandsters! I am glad we have each other to chat with through our process.

    Janine

The tests went fine. I didn't feel well last night...and today had a low grade fever...SO, my white cell count is up...SO I have to go to my PCP and get him to check me over and clear me for surgery. They're afraid I have an infection of some kind. I had blood work, and EKG, and a chest xray.

The doc said I'll be in over night. My surgery is at 2pm and they said I'd go home some time the next day. I'm sure you'll get more detailed info at your appointment pre-op appointment.

  8. I'm sure glad he equipped his son's to take over for him and continue his legacy :youcandothis:

I know, again, I am in the minority. I'm really very comfortable with that. Those who stand for everything, stand for nothing. He stood, to the best of his understanding, to the principles of the bible. I'm sure he made mistakes, he was human after all...but he was a man that stood for something, fought for it, and I am SO glad his work will continue in his sons.

  9. LOL!! Well, since you brought it up.... :youcandothis:

I don't want to see anyone suffer, not sure if he did or not. I just caught the tail end of the news. Haven't looked it up yet. But the earth certainly won't be at a loss without him.

Not everyone feels that way...sheesh it's a shame that we have to talk ill of a dead man. I for one admired and respected him and feel his loss.

  10. Hi Sue! I think you've already scolded yourself enough, so I won't go there :youcandothis: I have yet to be banded, but personally, I think I would talk to my surgeon and see what his advice is. He probably would recommend a fill. You're getting back on the exercise band wagon! Spring has sprung, so you don't have to be confined indoors...you can get out and enjoy nature! You're making positive changes and catching yourself before you gained a large amount back. Now call the doc and tell him what's going on. My doc has stressed to me at every appointment that I MUST stay connected to the network of help he provides for optimal success.

Best of luck! You'll do it!

  11. Hi All!!!

Today is my pre-op physical and testing! I am so nervous!!! Nervous because I gained weight since my last appointment 6 weeks ago :youcandothis: I'm sure I'm up between 6-10 pounds. I tried last week to lose it and lost 6, then just gave up, except for exercise, since Friday. Gosh I hope that doesn't post pone surgery. I'm also nervous because of the pre-op testing. I was told I would have an x-ray, ekg, and blood work. If that's all, I'm ok with that, but if I have to have an endoscopy, I'm WORRIED about that! I've had a lot of acid reflux over the years and am worried there will be a problem!!! I know...if there's a problem, it's a good thing to find out now. Anyway...I'll post when I get back...

Lisa: Yeah, I don't get all the pre-op/post-op diet differences. It's really weird how widely it varies from one surgeon to another. Sometimes I read about other's diets and get jealous! hahaha!

Ja9va: I just watched my emmi this past weekend too! It wasn't anything new to me, but it's GREAT info for the family, since a lot of them don't understand it. I have family members that don't understand this either, they also think it's just a matter of discipline. Well, now we're going to have help acheiving discipline! Yay!

Crabby: good luck with your sleep study! I wouldn't look forward to that either! Hopefully it goes by quicly for you.

  12. My pet peeve: when DH takes off his pants and socks by the bed, and just LEAVES them there!!! Does he think they're gonna get up and walk themselves ten steps over to the hamper??? lol!

  13. I don't know how people like Kevin Tredeau sleep at night! He has another book "Natural Cures They Don't Want You To Know About". I did some research on this, because I believe in natural cures, but found that the book is a bunch of hooey! Lots of outdated websites to look up and he wanted you to join HIS website for something like $9.95 per month!!! What a fraud!!! For every good review, I found 10-15 reviews that stated they felt scammed! When he came out with this latest scheme, I knew not to even bother. Yeah sweating is good, it gets rid of toxins, yes we shouldn't eat processed foods, yes we should exercise, yes we should cleanse our colons (don't know about the colonic stuff tho)...this is all stuff that is stuff most of us already know. He's full of crap!

  14. Good Morning Junies!!!

Accountablility: Just threw the diet out the window for Mother's day weekend, but didn't snack! (Well, except for the mother's day chocolate!) Exercised by doing yard work and house work.

Today: Will only consume my 6 medifast meals, totaling about 650 calories...if I get really hungry, I'll have a 5oz can of chicken (120 cals). Will try to get out for a walk, but no guarantees.

  15.
My sister had a BMI of 51 and was told by her surgeon that she had to lose enough weight to get down to a BMI of 50 to be covered by insur. Good luck!
She lost the weight and got the surgery so we didn't have to appeal.

If his BMI was 51-53 or so, the surgeon would have told him the same thing, but he'd have to lose 100lbs to get to a BMI of 50...that would take a LONG time as he's a slow loser as it is.

  16. Our insurance (Anthem BC/BS) denied my husband because his BMI is 60. The policy states they only approve lapband for patients with a BMI of 50 or less! Ludicrous!

I was wondering if this has happened to anyone else? If so, did you appeal? What was the result? The LapBand company is taking up his appeal and we're wondering what the chances are of the appeal being approved.

  17. Our insurance, Anthem BC/BS ( the BS should stand for bull sh*t) denied my husband because his BMI is TOO HIGH!!!! They won't cover lapband if your bmi is over 50!!! The lapband company is appealing it for him right now. If he gets denied again, he's going to have GB and that's going to cost them about twice as much! Where's the logic in that?

  18. Happy Saturday June Bandits!!!! We're all one day closer to our band date!!!

    Welcome to our new Junies!!!!

I am physically miserable today. I feel like a stuffed pig! I started with cramps and zits yesterday...oh no! PMS! I get PMS for 7+ days BEFORE my period even comes!!! Ah!!!! Then it goes away once I start...weird eh? Proof is, I'm up 2.5 pounds in ONE DAY!!!! Friggin Water weight!!!!! I'm so worried I won't be down those 10 pounds by my pre-op physical on tuesday...I don't know why I worry so much tho...I have the MOST understanding surgeon on the planet! I know he's going to say "Don't worry, you'll lose that during the liquid pre-op diet". But I think most of us kick ourselves when we're not 100% compliant to our "DIETS" and have any gain at all! OK...enough ranting...

Accountability: Yesterday was not a great diet day. I had medifast for Breakfast and mid morning (it's a 6 meal plan). Then I had about 2/3 of a turkey club and a few fries for lunch :phanvan Then for dinner I had half a chicken wrap, about 1/2 cup loaded mashed potatoes and shared...bbq wings with DH :omg: . I did not snack at all...so I pat myself on the back for that. I did excercise....I went swimming with DD in the morning and walked with DH in the evening...so that's another pat on the back. OK, I'm not perfect, I need to except it, move on and do better!!!

Today's goal....Drink Lots and Lots of Water, make wiser food choices and eat less (Protein, Protein, protein), clean my house!

    How's everyone else today?

  19. Hi Losing :) I met my hubby on the internet too! 10 years ago...we've been married over 9 years now and are VERY happy! He also has a judgemental mom. Thankfully, she's across the pond in England, so I don't see her too much...our relationship is much happier that way :)

Well, I hope your visit ends up being a positive experience for you. You've accomplished A LOT and should be proud to look them in the eye and welcome them into your home :) Best wishes for a great weekend :bananapartyhat:
