    Is Kettlecorn Popcorn Ok?

I have never had any problems with popcorn enjoy!
  3. I think what your experiencing is normal it does take time to listen to your body and wow your so on track. Keep weighing and measuring your food so when your not home like your cruise you can recognize what a portion looks like, keep tracking on my fitness pal everyone has moments where were tempted and I'll tell ya if I gave in usually I say to myself "that wasn't worth the calories" I had a meeting at work they had my favorite oatmeal raisin Cookies I broke off one small bite and didn't eat the rest. Your doing fantastic and should be so proud !! I do think if your craving something it's better to have it because for me I'd eat everything else then have it anyway or at least in past when we could eat more treat yourself every once in a while my favorite treat is a McDonald's ice cream cone I get my fix and it's 150-170 calories, I also love lemon itilian ice 100 calories these treats increase your sugar but my dietitian thinks it's fine in moderation. If your not self pay and feel stuck at any time ask for extra support with your dietitian. They had me down for yearly visits and I waited that year or should I say wasted that year, I'll never go more than six months again I just a run of 3 months which helped get me back on track I didn't gain any weight but didn't lose either so don't ever be afraid to ask for help if you need it. It comes down to mind over matter that darn head hunger. Next week I going to a class called mindful eating if I get any good tips I'll pass them along. Sorry it took me so long to reply I'm currently going through a lot of stressful events I hope this helps and again big congrats to you excellent job!!!

    My First Thread

Lassie A food bolus is a complete or partial obstruction of food
  8. Hi I have posted comments but never a thread! I was banded December 2009. I had a rough post op period felt horrible and my potassium level was critical low then I have had 4 surgeries since mostly orthopedic and a car accident I'm still being treated for. I was introduced to this site this spring(it's a great site) so my progress has been slow but steady goal is to loose 100# as of today 68 pounds down. This week I had fluoroscopy to check restriction as I had a major food bolus stuck which caused reflux which has now healed. I was disappointed that I did not have a tiny fill but with 5cc in a 10cc band I was told I have good flow and restriction ???ŠSo now my challenge is mind over matter- we all will get to this point and I'm encouraged by all of you! I have always been embarrassed to use my lap band card but I used it this week to order off the kids menu and it felt great having a smaller portion served. Thanks for letting me share. Lisa

    My First Thread

Brandedsweety96 Sorry for such a delay I went out to eat and got food stuck and vomited violently which irritated the restricted area causing the irritation which lead to reflux the nurse practitioner at the Bariatric center helped me piece it all together when you have a food bolus you won't be able to eat as the area is blocked also it's painful.

In Case Of Emergency ..fill Band

I was told that to be in the green zone you should be full for 3-4 hours after eating. Congrats on how well you have done but at this point you may want to consider a fill so you can stay fuller longer.

    Help

If I don't chew well and eat to fast I still throw up to this day. My surgery was December 2009 and I have had 4 unrelated surgeries since mostly orthopedic surgery which has slowed the process down for me due to less activity. At first I was very good about writing everything down and weighing and measuring everything then I slacked off I was able to maintain but not lose weight. A friend showed me this site (which has inspired me but also she turned me onto my fitness pal where you can customize your calories and grams of Protein ect. This has helped so much holding me accountable I weigh and measure everything! It aloes you to track fluids exercise as well. It is a great apt and lots of hamsters use it. At first I down loaded it and was busy and overwhelmed but once I started I was addicted! You can also scan barcodes and add your favorites easily. One feature I haven't used yet but plan to is the recipe part where you can add ingredients you use to make something and add #of servings and it will give you the nutrition information and calories per serving. Try it is a great tool! The good thing about the band is if you are having a hard time you still can always pick up where you left off but I was told that bypass patient loose weight rapidly but only have an 18 month window post op to loose. Best of luck to you don't be discouraged you just need to really weight, measure and track food to see what your intake really is and by doing that chewing slowly Mabey putting yyour fork down between bites to slow you down exercise and you'll do just fine.

    I Keep Cheating!!!

My physician weighs you as you walk in to day surgery and if you have not lost enough weight with the pre op diet she won't operate as you need to be discliplined as the band is only a tool and you have to do a lot to stay on track- c Good luck with your journey

    Port Infection/lapband Infection/band Removal

Bamagirl I have very sensitive skin and had had several surgeries but found I can only use hypafix tape or my skin becomes excoriated. It's more expensive but works great it is a cloth tape which flexes and expands (kinda like spandex for wounds) I just had foot/ankle surgery 11 days ago so I'm using it once again I have never any skin breakdown from using it. I also have been a nurse for 26 years and haven't seen a better product out there!

    Nervous

I didn't even tell my parents told one out of three siblings and a few friends. When people ask me how I'm losing weight I tell them high protien and 1200 calories and increased exercise it's the truth and it's no ones business about your band. Good luck and tell only who you want to tell also ask your surgeon if they can remove your gallbladder during lap band surgery.

    Anyone Losing Hair?

Any hair loss yes I'd a result from decreased protein but hair if hair is falling out it reflects what your body was lacking 3 months prior so you won't get immediate results from increased protein be patient it will resolve with proper protein. It's frustrating hang I'm there I also lost a lot of hair thank god mine was super thick to start with.
