    First date

    Good luck!
  2. I just posted facts on my recovery lol. If things hurt i said they hurt but i was never once nauseated - the closest thing was the painful burps and hiccups while i was in the hospital but the hiccups were caused by the drain and burps were just part of the gas working its way out. Otherwise its been great since ive been home. Now granted i probably looked like a sad homeless person in best buy yesterday with blue flannel pajama pants, bright mismatched "Dr. Seuss" looking socks covered up by blue crocs and a big burgundy tshirt on lol.

    My husband is an ass

Im four days post-op and im staying with my girlfriend for the first few days - yeah everytime someones in the kitchen cooking or snacking it sucks but theres no way in hell id expect her or anyone else to change their life based on a decision "I" made for "me." Thats just selfish. If it were reversed would you be ok if he expected you to hide and feel guilty for eating something that tastes great because "he" made a decision to change "his" life? Yeah it sucks but its nobodys faults but our own for making this decision to change our lives for the better. I love how many posts i see where its always hubby/bf thats an ass for living his life like he always has before the decision his wife/gf made... Yet i dont recall seeing any men calling their wives/gfs "b"s for eating the way they always have. We cant expect others to change bc we did. Sorry for the rant its just relevant at the moment lol. Im not calling mine names for eating cheetos or a banana or pizza just bc shes hungry and im not allowed. *shrugs*
  4. So i had surgery yesterday and i still feel like i got hit by a bus :-/
  5. I was supposed to be on the liquid pre-op diet for two weeks (3 protein shakes a day and sugar free jello). Needless to say I cracked a few times - nothing horrible like making a trip to coldstone for ice cream - mainly being lightheaded and having a pounding headache so I'd get a 6" chicken breast sub from subway. I'm down about 8 pounds and surgery is day after tomorrow. Has anyone else failed at the diet but still lost weight? What was your outcome? Has anyone been converted to an open procedure? I'm freaking out I know I know.. I shoulda stuck to it - Insurance didn't give the ok until 3 days ago though... I've always been denied in the past so I figured I would again... anyway that's neither here nor there. Please dont bash me I feel guilty enough - just wondering if anyone else out there isn't afraid to be honest and share their experience - if you'd rather pm me that's fine too.
  6. In less than 12 hours surgery will be under way... Freakin out :-/
  7. Yeah you better believe im doing the milk of mag this morning and nothing but clear liquids like doc said for today then npo at midnight. Ill tell her if she cant do it lap then do it open
  8. Im down like 8lbs and surgery is tomorrow at 0730. Surely some of the 8lbs came from my liver?

Looking For Dec Sleevers Out There

I bought one of those magic slushy things for my kiddo and the cubes would never freeze. How much salt did you put in the water to make it work?
  10. I'm three days away from surgery (12/31).... is this normal to have anxiety/freaking out? Not like horrible just... enough to cause me to be irritable and stressed out. I'm mostly concerned with how I'm going to feel and life in the hospital over the three day stay. It's like I can't even wrap my head around how different everything's about to be. I had 6 months to prepare and its just now hitting me (the freaking out part)... Insurance didn't say ok and give the final approval until two days ago - maybe that's why. I'm already telling myself I'll need to ask anesthesia for a stout dose of versed before wheeling me back.... Also, I haven't stuck to the liquid diet as closely as I was supposed to - I'm human. I know many have cracked and I'm one of the many - not trying to justify it. Just scared too that I wont have lost enough weight out of my liver. I've lost about 7 pounds already over the last week or so..... hopefully some of it came from my liver.
  11. Relating to a couple of Smashing Pumpkins songs today - "1979" the year I was born and "33" which is how old I turned today lol. Happy Birthday me.

  12. Got the phone call this morning from the surgeon's office - I'm approved! We submitted around December 14th - I was left pending before the holidays and called this morning and was told STILL PENDING. So I asked if they could escalate it since surgery is Monday - and they did. I called the surgeon's office and told them still no news... asked if they could call too to maybe see if the nurse already had a decision and just hadn't gotten around to keying it in. They called back about an hour later with yes, you're approved! UHC through HCA hospitals requirements - 5 years of showing me at a high BMI, 6 month medically supervised diet, BMI > 40 or 35 + with comorbs. Overall, fairly smooth process - which surprised me.

    Endoscopy Tomorrow!

So was I. Literally... they'll start an IV... wheel you back... roll you on your side... tell you "You may feel this burn in your hand a little... I did... and then I felt my eyelids batting and I said "here we go"... literally as soon as my eyes shut they opened and I was in recovery. No sore throat. Nothing. Just a weird feeling in the back of my throat for a day. Not bad just different. That's it.

2 days away from my surgery date!

Good luck! I'm just a couple of days behind you on 12/31.
  15. Got the phone call today - Insurance gave the green light. All set for 0730 Monday morning!

  16. So how does this help more than just a restricted calorie diet? Wont the weight loss regardless shrink your liver? Or is it something about liquids only?
  17. Huntingnurse

    Preop diet to shrink liver

Tentatively set for 12/31 - im waiting on insurance approval. Id hate to do all liquids for two weeks only to have insurace still not have reached a decision ya know?

    Preop diet to shrink liver

Yeah that's my problem. I'm getting ready to start it but I feel like I'm gonna pass out by the end of the day so I've had a chicken breast sandwich from subway at the end of the day the last two days which puts my calorie intake to less than 1000 - Does it have to be LIQUID for any certain reason? That's my question - if i only take in 1000 cals a day i'll drop weight fast too... that's my question though.. any reason it has to be liquid over restricted calories.

    Preop diet to shrink liver

Right but my question is - how does liquid diet help more than a calorie restricted diet (1000 cals or less)?

    PreOp Diet

I'm right there with you.. on day 1 of two weeks... about to start chewing on my arm...
  21. I'm scheduled for 7:30 AM on 12/31/2012 (insurance pending)! Who else is kicking off the New Years right that day?

    day 1 liquid diet

Mine starts tomorrow... I tried today but cracked at lunch. At least I ate fairly healthy and will do liquids and sugar free jello rest of the day. Tomorrow is the test though :-/ How do you keep your mind off the empty feeling?
