  1. I have had those symptoms and had to have a slight unfill...sounds like you are too tight. I do not know why that happened to me after weeks of feeling fine, but I guess our bodies change with weight loss and what worked one week may not work this week??

Good luck!!! I have an appt with my doctor Tuesday to check on my band...I had a slip 2 years ago and being self pay, I do not want that to happen again.

  2. Hi,

I think I have been lactose intolerant most of my life, but after being banded for nearly 4 years, I think it has become more uncomfortable. I seem to run a slight fever if I eat a lot of dairy product. I think the milk product aggravates or inflames my stomach area. Gas is still very offensive but I can't seem to digest it. I used to eat a lot of cheese for Protein, but now have to lay off dairy unless I plan on being off a day or two. I am going to speak to my medical doctor about this because it has taken me a couple of years to figure out what makes me run a slight fever. Since I quit eating the dairy as much, I do not run a fever. Kinda' odd, huh?

I have lost 116 pounds and below goal weight. The lap band saved my life.

  3. At 258, I was wearing 24/26 and 3x tops.

At 145, I am wearing size 8 pants - Kim Rogers from JC Penny's. Large tops/some medium

I am very pleased to have lost this much weight and kept my weight gain with my unfil to about 12 pounds. I had gotten to 133 in December but was throwing up daily and decided to do an unfil. I put on 10+ pounds in the 1st 2 weeks but after experiencing anemia from nose bleeds last week, and being hospitalized for 3 days with blood transfusions, I have lost excess Fluid and staying around 145. I am grateful!!

I think I will keep the band unfilled for a while longer as stress affects my band and I don't wanna go there right now.

    Good luck to all!

  4. Great News. Saw my lapband doctor and we took a fluro of my pouch/band and with the removal of some saline on the last visit, the band has corrected itself. I COULD NOT BE HAPPIER!!! I did not have him do anything - no needle - no nothing but to look at the band and make sure it was good to go. God hears and answers our prayers!

I am at 142 today and thankful for this journey. I even hugged my doc today and of course he grinned.

    HAPPY THANKSGIVING TO ALL!!!

  5. Hi Folks,

I saw my regular Doctor today and my blood work came back good so it appears I have no infection. That is a good thing. I did schedule an appointment for next Tuesday to get a fluro to see what is happening and if I need to schedule the removal.

I am down to 149 as of today and that is as small as I wanna go. I am praying for the right decision. I am not in discomfort and I blame stress on most of my band issues not the other way around. I did not know I was so stressed until I had the lapband meter.

I do slime some when I am chewing my nicorrette gum. I am trying to cut it down but geeze, I have given up all my comfort foods.

I will keep all of you posted as to the fluro visit next week.

    Thanks for the support!

  6. I am on my 2nd lap band now and it is prolapsing. My 1st band was placed by Dr. Kuri in Mexico. Great experience, and I lost 90 pounds in 16 months. However, I developed pnuemonia and when I went in for a routine lap band check up, my band had slipped. I had it replaced by a local doctor at a cost of $17,000, and thought all was well, but this band showed prolapsing on my last visit.

So, with all the extra medical expenses, I have $35 grand in this stomach and no regrets. I am below target weight and praying for quidance on whether to replace the band or just have it removed.

I do know, if I have it removed, I will look at the gastric sleeve as this process has been difficult on the money market and my sense of well being. I have not abused my band and treated it kindly. Just for some reason, my stomach won't hold the band.

    Good luck to others!

  7. Thanks for the replies. I will see my lap band doctor and do a fluro again and see how it is positioned. He did not say it had slipped, just the stomach pouch was larger than it should be and was prolapsing.

I am keeping an eye on things. I just wondered if anyone else has lived with a slipped band? Since the doctor said some people do?

  8. HI folks,

My 1st band slipped last October and my replacement slipped in September this year. I am not having any pains, I do have a little more sliming. I do throw up some black contents every week or so, but other than that I feel good.

I have little hunger and may not eat but once a day.

My lapband doctor said it was prolapsing on October 4th of this year, but we did not discuss the future. He had told me last year, lots of people live with a slipped band. Depends on the indvidual.

So? Any one live in my shoes?

By the way, I have $35 grand - self pay - in my stomach and lost 106 pounds and below target. I run slight fevers every week or two and suspect I have some infection.

  9. I was banded in March of 2007 and it slipped and I had the band removed and replaced on November 24, 2008. It is now November 2009 and in October the fluro showed my band is prolapsing. I am not having much trouble with sliming and am eating enough to feel comfortable but am dropping about 2 pounds a week. I have lost 20 pounds in the past 3 months. I am at 149 now and am just waiting for the day something forces me to have it removed. I am self pay - my BCBS does not approve weight loss surgery. Would I do it over, YES I WOULD. And, I have the money to be rebanded but I am not sure I need to go that route.

I just pray I can make it through the next 3 months without any serious issues as my work is going strong and I need to be available.

Good luck to all of you bandsters! Me, too!

  10. I had my 1st lap band placed in MEXICO and came back to the states and found a local fill doctor. I came down with pnuemonia and when I went to my fill doctor my band has slipped. I had another band placed November 24, 2008 and discovered in October on 2009 it is prolapsing. I had another bout of pnuemonia in June of this year. I think the salivia and mucous builds up when laying down and I cough most nights. I am not having it taken out until it is the last resort because I am self pay. I have 35 grand in my stomach cash and will do it again. I am below target weight and do not think I can control my food hunger without it. I am sorry I have had these complications but it is what it is. I might look at the sleeve since the band is slipping so much. I just don't know yet. Send prayers my way please!

  11. HI Folks,

I am so dissappointed that my "buddy" has chosen to slip again. I am down 104 pounds and do not need to loose anymore, but I will not have this one replaced unless it becomes a medical emergency. Self pay - $35,000 out of pocket already and even though I may have a nest egg, I don't think I want to invest another $18,000 in something that lasts on 10 months. I still have restriction and am not in pain, so the doctor said for us to wait and see!

    Time will tell!

I think my stress factor has a lot to do with my band slippage and lifting items I should not lift. (ie: work) but, not much I can do to change it now.

    Good luck to others!

  12. HI Sheila,

Good luck on your journey. I went to Mexico for my 1st lap band and would not change the experience for anything. I lost a lot of weight and my band slipped 18 months later, but I now have a new one via local doctor and am very happy. Not everyone walks around with 35 grand cash in their tummy's! I have lost a hundred pounds and will be happy to stay where I am.

  13. Sorry you have had a bad experience with the band. I have had to have my 1st one replaced and am so thankful I have a tool to remind me not to eat too much.

It did change the foods I can eat, and I have had complications, but I just can not risk not having my band to guide me on portions.

Good luck on your removal. I think a lot of people have been unfilled and return to normal eating without loosing the band.

I started at 258 and am now down to 158-161 most days. Helps my feet and my blood pressure!

Hope things work out for you!

  14. Congrats on your new band and journey. People have different pain levels and different areas that are affected. I had minor discomfort but had difficulting bending over when I used the restroom. Most of are fortunate to have friends to help us after the surgery so take the pain meds as prescribed and take it easy. You did have a real surgery!

    Good luck!!!
