    Mexico Doctor

HI , I had a great experience going to Mexico for my procedure. My local doc wanted 18,000 and Kuri's price was 8950.00. That includes the hotel stay of 2 nights and hospital stay for 2 nights..no airfare.

    Anyone from Georgia ??

HI Folks, I was self pay and flew to SD to have my lap band surgery by Dr Kuri and his team. IT WAS AN AWESOME SURGERY EXPERIENCE. I have had several surgeries in my life and this is the first time I woke from anethesia without gasping or feeling like I was smothering. I just woke up like I had been asleep a while. Yes, I do not speak Spanish and no, not many of the nurses speak English, but we figured things out. I was not impressed with Tjuana as far as a tourist town....too many sellers in the streets. But I am so glad I chose this surgical team and hospital. I have lost 17 pounds...feeling great....had some gas discomfort but not terrible...and I am feeling full all the time....I have followed the liquid and the soft diet thus far and trying to do as the doctor says...I have a fill scheduled at the Fill Center USA in Duluth on May 26 - a new satellite office out of Moultrie....I will not be going back to Mexico for the fills so I had to find a local source that would accept MX patients....they service a lot of Dr Kuri's patients... GOOD LUCK TO ALL OF YOU IN YOUR LAP BAND JOURNEY!!! :clap2: :clap2: :clap2: :clap2: :clap2: :clap2: :clap2: :clap2:

    Hiatal Hernia and BMI 50+

I had been told 15 years ago I had a hernia but nothing ever came of it. HOWEVER ...after surgery, Dr Kuri asked if I knew I had one and I said kinda. He said, well it has been fixed. I thought that was pretty awesome. :hungry: :guess :think :embarassed: :girl_hug: :clap2: :clap2: :clap2: :angry :sick :speechles
  6. HI Folks, Day 11 post op - feel great - some gas pains still moving around but nothing serious - HOWEVER, the Protein drink has me confused. I was banded by Dr Kuri in Mexico - and have been following his food plan to the tee. I have not been drinking a Protein Drink?? I noticed some of the bandsters discussing Protein drinks are banded a long time. Does everyone need to drink a protein drink daily?? I am mainly drinking Soups and Water / tea right now. I start on soft food Tuesday THANKS IN ADVANCE!!!! :clap2: :clap2: :clap2: :clap2: :clap2:

    Are we neagative on Lapbandtalk?

7 Days post - op and I have utlized this forum over the past 6 weeks to understand what to expect and the pros and cons. Yes, there are some people who have had complications and yes, my band might slip next month or next year. BUT FOR TODAY - I am hopeful that I can live a life free of the starving feeling for the first time ever. I APPRECIATE THE HONESTY IN THIS FORUM. I only visit Dr Kuri's site because he was my surgeon. FANTASTIC DOCTOR in my opinion. Just my "THOUGHTS" about this subject. So there :clap2: :clap2: :clap2: :clap2: :clap2: :clap2:
  10. HI Folks, 6 days post op and feel good but my stomach area is still very bloated and my clothes actually feel tighter?? Following my liquids and feeling very satisfied. VERY EXCITED ABOUT NOT FEELING HUNGRY ALL THE TIME!!!! My incisions are clean / bruised / healing well but I am definitely bloated as much if not a little bit more than the day after surgery??

    March 2007 Bandsters

I am sitting in a hotel room drinking chamomile tea. Seems I do better with warm liquids. Last night I had the DR Kuri dinner from the hotel and it was Jello cubes, broth and apple juice. The jello cubes were yummy but I noticed if I did not let it dissolve in my mouth I could feel it going down the stomach. A little discomfort. I feel almost giddy....kinda nice .....will chat back at ya later.

    March 2007 Bandsters

HI Folks, I have been reading your posts for the past 4 weeks and have found such a "WEALTH" of information. I am 52 years old and committed to lap band as a last resort to lose these painful pounds. My legs and feet can't take these extra 60 plus pounds I have gained in the past 5 years. At 5'7, if I can get below 200, I will be physically more able to handle standing on my feet. Additional weight loss will contribute to a healthier heart, healthier state of mind, and a healthier "Woman". I am anxious to get off the blood pressure meds, too. I am traveling to San Diego tomorrow monring. Pre-op testing will be on Monday- Dr. Kuri and his team is my surgeons of choice. A friend is flying with me and we are looking forward to site-seeing in Tijuana. I may or may not get to post before Tuesday am, and if not, PLEASE SEND PRAYERS MY WAY. AGAIN, THANKS FOR THIS AWESOME SUPPORT!!!!

    8 More Days

This time next week I will be in the hospital in Mexico, aftering all the pre-op tests. Surgery is scheduled for Tuesday am and I am looking forward to some peace and quiet. Work has been more stressful than usual and I am determined to pace myself the next few days so I can get some shopping done. My Sunday was spent doing basic chores after being gone 11 days. I am looking forward to seeing Mexico ...even though it will be limited.
