  1. Since on full liquids, do you find that you are hungry? I am starting to feel this way and wondering if I need to up fluids or if it's acid? Going to ask doc today.

I'm a mixture of both I have crazy gas so sometimes I dunno if it's true hunger or bubbles lol...so I just get a snack.....jello popsicles etc.

Sometimes I feel an ache in my sleeve...not sure what its caused by. I think it happens when I'm totally empty. It does go away if I eat a Jello cup, popsicle or even take a sip of water....(that's why it doesn't seem like hunger...1 sip of Water an the ache is gone?) Weird

  2. Welcome! I live in Napa and having surgery August 27th at Kaiser South San Francisco! I'm right there with you on the " reset" button! You'll love this topic....awesome, supportive people right at your fingertips! I quietly thank futureskinnypants everyday for starting this topic and being a catalyst for such a supportive group.

Congrats on the the start of your journey! We will all keep you and futureskinny in our prayers!!!

  3. I was sleeved on 8/14 too and I don't feel hungry either. I also don't have a desire for what everyone around me is eating. Im on clears and full liquids til 8/29, but it satisfies me....it does hurt when I drink more than few ozs at once. I feel like a stuffed sausage until I walk around for a bit. I had loose stools when I was just drinking the clears....when I added the puddings and creamed Soups and cream of wheat Cereal things got more on the normal side......Good Luck Everyone!!

  4. Its great to see so many new pre-sleevers here. As we round out week 2 my thoughts go out to all of you that went before us. I can't wait to hear about your experiences....I've been watching every VSG journey I can find on 'YOUTUBE'. I have literally subscribed to over 100 Vsg vlogger channels. I ask questions and offer support...but no one elses story will compare...to our own.

Next week is my week...I'm excited and nervous. No pre-op diet(yea!) But I'll be NPO after midnight on 8/14. I work as a nurse at the hospital where my surgery will be performed, so I'll be getting off work at 7:30am and returning to preop at 9a. I find it better to keep my mind occupied at work than to sit at home and worry all night. I've been doing some last min. shopping and lots of housecleaning. My Dr says he wants me walkingin the halls within 2hrs after I'm out of surgery...I told him "GameOn"

  6. I am a teacher/nurse. I sort of told my vice-principal that I was trying to get approval for lap-band. For some reason that does not shock people so much. I figured I needed to give someone a heads up about having to go to appointments etc... Plus. I knew she would be my worst critic. She seemed to be supportive, but reminded me that I was fearfully and wonderfully made. I told her she was so right and that I had no plans of altering the alimentary canal like by-pass. I reminded her that God did not make me obese, Me, food and the devil did! Now I have the power to undo what I did to my temple!

Amen.....that was a GREAT response!!! Love It!!!

  7. My surgary date is August 1st. On day 6 of clear liquid diet. It's tough no doubt, but I'm a stubborn, bullheaded Irish woman and this will not defeat me, I will defeat it and become healthier for it. Let's do this everyone!!!!!

I must say....I really like your name....I fits with what we're all about to go thru.....there will be lots of peeks and valleys on this road...but I hope we can remember to laugh thru some of the lows. God willing they won't last always. I'll keep you in my prayers....looks like you and Umi will be leading the parade of AUGUST SLEEVERS!!!!!

  8. AaahRoo! I have a surgery date! I will be sleeved at last by Dr. Fernando Otero on August 14, 2012 at John Muir Hospital-Concord Campus CA. I'm very excited of course!! I'm hoping to find other August sleevers to treck the journey with. I'm so ready to get this weighted ball rolling you just don't know...

I've been putting on weight since the birth of my first child 20 years ago. Things really got out of hand when I seperated from the military in 2006. No limits,No mandatory runs,No mandatory weigh-ins makes Gr8rLuv a very big, bad girl :P !! Currently, I'm miserable...My joints-Achy wrists, back, hips, knees and ankles. sleep Apnea-I got it, Cpap-I wear it. I can't wait to get back to my normal...BMI,Weight, Activity,Sleep. I've lost enough time...I'm ready for the RESET button!!

  9. So, I had my surgery consult in April and my MD quotes an average 45 day wait from consult to surgery date.....13 weeks later....Im still circling the runway. I called my Dr. office and Im transferred to a coordinator who never picks up the phone and rarely returns calls. They were all so nice in the beginning, but the only time I scored a callback.....when I suggested the Dr. refer me to another Dr. who could fit me into their surgery sched.

I called another Dr to see about moving up my timeline.....I would have to see him of course, then resubmit to my insurance but his office staff assures me they can get me seen and schedualed within two weeks. Aguh!!! Am I being unreasonable? Is this the normal wait time? I just feel so frustrated.

  10. Truth is there will always be people who won't be on your wls cheer team. Some will speculate about your methods no matter what you tell them. Lets face it, Its hard to lose weight.....so when you see someone drop 40-60 pounds in 3-4months then continue to steadily lose....well, you kind of wonder. I work in a hospital with other nurses who are post op. They take their lunch breaks alone like their afraid of being found out. I decided not to live like I'm ashamed, so I tell. I don't have to educate but I do it with passion. I talk to them about my unhealthy relationship with food and the affect it has had on my body...Joint pain and sleep apnea...then we talk about years of yo-yo dieting losing 5lbs and gaining 10lbs. People come my way, they can expect to hear my weightloss testamony!! I tell them the things that I've learned about wls...how hard it really is. No doubt it won't stop them from talking....but at least they'll have a better understanding of why I choose to use the tool.
