  1. Everyone is different. Your age is on your side, as is the fact you haven't already stretched your skin with baby. I was lucky when I had babies that I only gained a few stretch marks and had no real sagging. When I lost a tonne of weight a few years ago I also was lucky that the skin sprang back into place. I'm now over 40 and all the yo-yo dieting will probably come and bite me on the butt. You will find that you retain your natural shape, but just be smaller. Once you have children it will be a different story. When I was younger I was a pear shape, big butt/hips, smaller on top. Once I had children my shape seemed to change and now I'm big chest/smaller bum - more hourglass. I know I'm never going to make supermodel stats, I just want to be in the best shape I can. So embrace your booty - and go to gym to make it a firm booty, not a flabby one! :-)

    Belching

No, not for me. I do burp, but not so loud that it attracts attention and no more than before the op. Some people get the "full" burps. That means burps that occur when you've eaten ENOUGH!

    Chest Pain Help!

Hey. All my gas gathered in my sternum, I had no pain in my shoulders. It could also be reflux, but I reckon it is most likely gas - and it's not comfortable. You'll be fine.

    Short People Success Stories?

Another midget here! I'm losing all over but am top heavy still. 5'0 and currently 168lbs.

    Something Strange!

Exactly the same thing happened to me. Just leave it alone. Mine "dropped off/went away" of its own accord. See your doctor if it looks like its getting infected, otherwise leave it alone. What Mews says is right - all doctors internally stitch.

    A Question For Smokers

Yes I agree with Lissa. The best gift you can give yourself is to drop the fags. I smoked for 25 years and could never imagine life without them. I planned trips around cigarette stops - it was ridiculous. Apart from that cigarettes make you smell BAD and literally rot you from the inside out. You will succeed in quitting if you really want to. If you put an equal amount of energy into quitting as you do weight loss you will win! Every time I lit a smoke I used to mentally picture the toxic smoke being sucked into my lungs and imagined what those chemicals were doing to the poor little pink cells in there. Eventually I just hated the sight of them and tossed the packet. I used patches for a week. It was tough for two weeks, but I just kept saying "I CAN have one,but I don't WANT one." That was two years ago. Haven't had one since. Good luck. Remember, it is a gift to yourself of quality of life.
  8. Wishing you all the very best. Sending good vibes out to you!
  9. Your story almost made me cry. It was beautiful. You have a wonderful husband!
  10. How did you go. You had me worried there. I hope you've seen your doc!

    Labs Abd Water

Water isn't usually a problem. In fact at my clinic they advise you to drink a lot of water for the 24 hours prior to taking blood because it makes it easier to locate veins!
  12. Hope eveything is going well for you now Raven. Things always seem worse at night, we tend to lose perspective (well I do anyway). Googliing medical stuff is a surefire way to send yourself into a panic - I do it all the time ! Good luck -things are always better during the day.
  13. Hi Everyone. Hope all the gals enjoyed mother's day! We had a little celebration and I did eat half a chicken schnitzel ( I know you read this Trisha!!LOL) and today I was feeling exceptionally hungry so I ate some broiled chicken breast. Too much of it. I found it hard to breathe afterward. It has settled down now, but it came up on me way too quickly. I'm six weeks post op and chewed really really well, but I'm wondering if I can bust open my staples doing this? Now I'm going to by lying awake all night wondering if I'm leaking all because I ate too quickly to notice the full signal! I'm really struggling getting used to the sleeve - something I thought would be so easy. Feeling so good now that I actually forget I have it and then BANG! YOU'RE FULL - WAY TOO FULL! This has only happened twice, once with the schnitzel yesterday and again today with the chicken. I feel like a sabotaging fool, but it isn't deliberate. Thanks for your answers!

You girls are peaches. Thanks so much.
  19. Wow, you've lost a huge amount. Your tummy has shrunk!! Good on you.
  20. Yeah, I'm thinking stall too. Maybe, in order to help your back, you could do pilates. I read today that it is brilliant for strengthening core muscles (and thus the back).
  21. Good on you Karen. As you'd know people with bi polar and schizophrenia are prone to stop taking meds when feeling good - I guess they think "Hell, don't need them anymore." People with depression (in my experience) do the same thing. Not this little black duck - I've been on meds for nearly 15 years and have no plans to stop in the near future. It's so great that you have enough insight to be able to recognise that you need to stay on the meds!
  22. I'm six weeks out and realised last night that I felt absolutely normal for the first time in ..... six weeks. I have no headaches, discomfort, dizziness or nausea that was bugging me. I felt able to do normal activities within a week of surgery though.

    Is Fatigue Normal

Yes. And it will come and go for a while. Just make sure you're taking your vitamins and getting your protein.
