  1. I just wanted to say thank you to everyone who has shared their stories and problems. I had my operation 4/25/12. I had no pain or discomfort but I did have some very emotional days after surgery. I found out I was not alone and what I was going through was normal. This is the best support anyone can get and I encourage those who have not had their operation to read the post daily...you will find an answer to your question. Thanks again and best of luck to everyone!

    April Sleevers

My Starting weight was 316 Pre-op weight 298 Today 282 I had a week and half stall so I quit weighing for a few days....then when I weighed this morning I had lost 2.2 pounds.
  3. Krenee, I had some discomfort the day of my surgery (04/25/12) and the day after due to gas pains that seem to roam around your body but the hospital was great about pain medication. It is also hard to believe but the sooner you get up and start walking the better you will feel....I didn't believe that either when they told me that but it is true. My doctor made me get up and start walking two hours after being in my room. I have had no pain since coming home and I havn't even used the pain medication that the doctor wrote a prescription for. In fact the taking out of the catheter and the drain tube were more uncomfortable than any pain I had....but they were quick...thank god....lol! Good luck and you will be fine.
  4. This was my first surgery and I stayed one night in the hospital....Staff was awsome! I could have not gotten better care anywhere. I choose the sleeve because after alot of research I felt it was the best option for me. My insurance did cover my surgery after doing all the necessary steps. I started my process back in October and had my surgery in April. I walked a mile this morning and it felt great, would of never had the drive or motivation to that before! My starting weight was 316 and I am now down to 286...my goal is 185. My advice is do what Dr. Miles and Vernoica tell you to do for the first 3 to 4 weeks to give your stomach time to heal.....there is a great video on youtube that shows exactly how they do the surgery...not to graphic...but it is an actual surgery. Hope you get approved soon!
  5. Hey Gigi Girl, I just had my surgery with Dr. Miles on 04/25/12. It has been a great process with no pain and no nasuea. I recieved wonderful care at St. Vincent's and everyone was very professional. I have lost 30lbs so far and I am now just begining to eat some regular food. I have tried several things which havn't settled well with me so I have left them alone and maybe I will try them again later. I have been able to eat Pasta fine just not much of it. Any questions you have feel free to ask and I will answer them best I can. Good Luck and everything should go great for you!
