  3. I found the same thing and it holds just the perfect amount for one serving. I bought one for chocolate and one for vanilla. It' gets me through the entire work week. Isn't it great how excited we get over the littlest things. When do you get back to FL so we can meet up?

You will not be able to pick them up for a few days, but every surgery and person is different. I had a very good experience, but if your is a bit rougher you might want the help.

    New to the site

Welcome Tamaris, Don't be shy we are all here for the same reason some of us strong and others not so much, but we have all decided to do this for the same list of reasons. Look up the topic "12 things" and compile a list, that was my first real step into this forum and I am in love. I am a single chick in the most beautiful place and while I have a lot of verbal support the physical support is lacking because I'm kinda alone here. But 18 days out I am healed up and headed to the gym, figuring out my new body signals was the hardest, but caution to the wind I will have all my VSG friends here to help when I run in the inevitable rough spots. Welcome to the club and the beginning of your new life! Brook PS. Feel free to read my blog linked below and do some research with Eggface you will begin to fall in love with her food created especially for us!

learning that my stomach is different

the 2 days after surgery I had that pain every time i swallowed too much. It goes away, but it does teach you how to drink. Learn to listen to your new stomach. It took me over a week to figure out that i'm full when I start to hiccup. The sooner you can figure out your tell the better when you start moving into non liquid foods. Good luck and feel free to follow my blog for details or questions! Always up for answering what I can. Also check out the World According to EggFace her blog and recipes are awesome!!! Especially the protein shakes. I just got my sugar free Torani syrups yesterday!!!

    Let's try this again!

Heather, I was in your shoes too. 200lbs at 10, 300 at 16 and 400 at 29. I love myself and I am comfortable with my body, but I'm not comfortable with 500 lbs. My advise is to research and read this site. There is so much information about everything here. My surgeon said that I was the most prepared he had ever seen someone be at final consultation. I am a pessimistic optimist and go into everything hoping for the best but expecting the worst. Here I am 3 weeks post op and down 30 lbs from my high of 406. I have not been hungry and my biggest problem is getting all my vitamins in over the course of the day. I have been out to eat with my family and friends with no problems. It's 90% a mental game just like any other diet tool. Yes I probably could eat a bite of cake, but that won't accomplish my goal when that one bite is 10% of my food intake for the day. Protein first, water second, vegs third and don't forget the vitamins. Feel free to subscribe to my blog and keep in touch! I am happy to share my story with those that would like to here the raw version. I also posted a picture of my stomach they took out, which was twice the size than a normal stomach should be. Good luck!

  13. Sleep a lot... I'm on day 4.and I'm 10 times better today than yesterday.
  14. My Dr only uses 32... the difference is millimeters in circumstance. Smaller equals more restrictions equals less food you can eat

    I'm HUNGRY!!!!!

Ditch the carbs and hi fat foods.... that's what your doc wants you to do. If u feel u need something take one bite and walk away. It's like anything in life. If someone told u that if u lived as a homeless person for 2weeks and they would give u a million dollars could you do it? This is a commitment make the right Need choices and look to the future. Good luck
  16. Thank you everyone for your well wishes. Everything is going great. When I woke up this morning I had slept through the night and my protein shake this morning went down well. MMM Choc Peanut Butter. No really sharp pains today unlike yesterday. I can breathe deeper today without pain. I think I may be able to go outside and walk today. YEAH!!!

    home from the hospital

I had a good hospitalization. They gave me dilauded (sp) for pain while I was in and then yesterday morning they gave me the Lortab just before I was discharged, luckily it settled ok with me. I get the pain in my chest too. It seems like it is at the entrance of my new stomach. I have found that the creamier drinks aren't as bad. I am up and about at least once an hour and I haven't had any gas ex as of yet. Getting up and down is the hardest part and I can't really lay flat comfortably. No bending over as of yet either. Good Luck!!

    Pre-op Diet Warning!

Cut out bad carbs and fat...this will shrink the liver. The bigger it is the longer it will take and the more bruising u will have wjn they move the liver. Good luck!

    Only a 1 day pre-op diet???

My surgeon only requires one day as well but if u start early u can make it easier on yourself... low fat and low carb will reduce the size of the liver...I've been on one meal a day for almost three weeks.

    Pre-op testing covered?

I am in the same situation. My PCP ordered all the tests my surgeon required. As long as they code them a medically necessary your insurance should cover them. My PCP required over 3K in testing (Sleep Apnea, 2 sets of blood and urine, EKG, Echo, Chest X-Ray and 3 separate Dr visits.) Luckily my payment to the hospital covers my in hospital testing. All my post op blood work will be covered under routine blood work to monitor High BP. Good Luck!

    6 Month Update

I hope that I lose like you have. TO think that in 6 months I could be half of myself is amazing! I know that last little bit sucks, but I am excited for this to happen!!! Any tips that you found for yourself?
  23. I'm with leslie! My DR. doesn't require any pre-op, but I don't want anything to keep me from my surgery date and time so fatty liver away. I have done 1 meal a day for 3 weeks. This is my very last week and I am requiring myself to stick to no carbs this week. Good Luck!

    FLYING after surgery

Fattrapped....I understand what your saying he was a bit abrasive with me too. My pcp can't help me they way I need if I go to Mexico. The way I figure is I don't have to like him I have to trust him and he is highly regarded by the other drs and nurses in his hospitals. His staff is nice and I'm getting a US deal and my brother in law will be my post op nurse. I totally respect your decision and ill let u know what happens when I'm there next week.

    FLYING after surgery

My DR mainly works on out of state patients because he is less expensive. Better alternative to Mexico in my opinion. I have to stay in town for a week to do my week follow up with him and then be cleared to fly home. My PCP can take care of me after that, unless anything comes up that he wants me to come back for. His program is 2 years so they monitor you via online groups and email. I purchased a straight through flight back to Tampa from Detroit and I have someone flying with me.
