Hi,
So for those that had the band too tight and had to let some Fluid out of the band, did you get it put back in later down the line?
i am afraid that if i try to fill again, it will hurt like last time. i am hoping that i just got too much at once and i just need to start getting smaller fills. i hope this isnt all i get filled with (3.5 cc's).
(my first fill was 3 cc's and then my 2nd fill was 1cc... then had to get .5 taken out because it was hurting too much.)
thank you

I was banded may 18th and the port site still hurts and i cant lay flat in my back yet. It feels kinda tight when i do. Is something wrong with me?
-
so i havent taken the bandages off yet and i was told today that i couldve taken them off a while ago. GRR!! when did you all take yours off?

the only walking you need to worry about now is to keep the shoulder pain away! I didn't leave the house for the first week! I had a hernia repair too so I just walking in the house!
i never did get any shoulder pain... i got lots of jaw pain, back of neck pain and upper back pain but nothing in my shoulders. what is the shoulder pain attributed to?

My nurse wants me to eat fruit. It is a good source of Fiber. I have a small amount at lunch and dinner which helps my brain to know I am done eating. Without dessert I "think" I'm not done eating. I am however several years out.
For now I would hold off on fruit. Fruit was not on my post op diet. I did not have fruit until week 5 when I returned to solids. I fully intend to have cherries when they come into session this summer. Been buying blackberries at costco for several weeks.
Walk as much as you can. One idea is to go to the mall in the morning. There are benches placed every couple hundred feet so you can stop and have a rest if you need one.
the mall... thats a great idea!!

Regarding the watermelon, My dietician told me it was too much sugar. Even though its Water your body holds on to the sugar.
oh no! i love watermelon!
did you think they meant that it shouldnt be eaten at all or only during the healing stage?
-
I wanna blend up some watermelon... yall think its gonna be too much sugar?
ALSO
I haven't been walking as much as i should... cuz im still sore. Should i suck it up and walk anyways? How are yall handling it all? The port site is what prolly hurts the most still even tho its bearable BUT it kinda hurts to sit straight up. ANYONE ELSE having the problem of sitting up erect as you did before the surgery?
(Banded on may 18th)
thank you!!

Well I must say this has been a much easier journey then I had planned. I had my surgery the 17th Friday the 18th I went garage saleing and yep over did it getting in and out of the truck. Saturday I was able to shower for the first time and relaxed all day got up hourly to walk. And started to ween from the loratab and started on liqued tylenol. Sunday was another relaxing day went to visit a friend for about an 1hour rested walked. Today Monday I have had no pain meds back to work. I run a daycare center with help of course not lifting. And feel great I am down 19 lbs. I am on all liqueds but struggling to get my 60 grams of Protein a day and my 64 oz of Water. I start pureed in 3 days am thinking about doing a little bit of pureed tuna and fat free salad dressing about 2 oz today. Just to help me get the protien. I am just feeling a little wiped out but I am not hungry. Any suggestions? I can have fat free Jello pudding and the tuna would be a lighter consistency then that I thought. Cant get a hold of my Dr. till tomorrow. Hope everyone is haveing a great day.Are you kidding me!!!! lucky you!
Im super surprised at the solid foods ur eating already. Ive been told only full liquids for me. I dont know why but it seems that i cant consume much early in the day but later in the day, im hungrier and able to consume more. Im super sore where the port is... thats why im still taking the meds. :-/
Im glad ur at such a progressed level. I had my surgery on the 18th and im not even close to where u are.
Good luck!

Sooo... i had the surgery on the 18th of may and yesterday was prolly the worst... it wasnt all that bad but it def wasnt good. I barely ate anything until the evening... i ate Tomato Soup and tried to drink Water but i am so scared to drink or eat too much. Thats the same as today. The only pain is the port site but the gas is bugging me and once again, im afraid to eat more than 3 babyspoons of Soup, Protein Drink or pudding. Am i being paranoid or am i doing the correct thing?
Not to mention the walking around im doing and breathing exercises that i constantly have to do when all i wanna do is actually rest. Lol
-
So the day after surgery, did u eat full liquids again?
-
What about your throat hurting or chest being sore? Mine does.
-
How do u feel? Im sore!!!!!

Hello All,
I am going to be banded on the 5/18/12 by Dr Q.
He seems like a great doctor even tho i havent spent a lot of time "talking" to him but it seems that everyone is satisfied with his work.
Anything i should know before i do this?
thankyou!!
-
Congrats!!
So how did u feel the same day? How do you feel now?
Anything i should expect? I get banded on the 18th.
-
I could be super wrong but i dont think bananas are allowed in the shakes when u officially start. U might wanna look into that.

As a matter of fact, i found this online. VERY INFORMATIVE! !

I have a sign outside my apt... or i should have one at least. Lol
Ive told everyone except my MOM. She would kill me if she knew.
I have had nothing but support and praise for doing something that others want to do. Even skinny ppl and guys are super supportive. I dont have a husband or bf so i think its kinda ballzy to advertise but if i can help just ONE person by sharing my situation, i know that ive done a good thing i can be proud of.

Soooo, I had to attend a support group as its one of my doctors rules. I went. Boy, do I regret finding a random group to attend. I attended (by accident) a group that had done the duadnal switch and the leader/nurse of the group told me that since my BMI is 53, I am too fat for the band. She told me that my doctor should've known this and offered the duadnal switch.
Has anyone been told this before? What are your thoughts on this?

Hi,
I have a question that i hope someone can help me with.
I got my band 3 months ago and i had my first fill at 3cc's.
Last month my second fill was 1cc.
About two weeks after my last fill, my stomach area was hurting a lot!!!
I thought i needed to go to the ER because it was hurting so much to even stand straight. I called my dr and they asked me to go in.
After i went in, they told me that it was too tight and i thought that it couldnt be THAT simple of an answer but i let her take .5 cc's out. After that, i was fine. i have not been hurting since then. My question to you all is, do you think i will be ok for another fill later on? or am i stuck at 3.5cc's forever? Maybe i just need to get smaller fills at a time?
Please tell me your thoughts.
thank you!
