    Full? Or keep eating?

I am two months out and have learned from the board that everyone is different in this respect. I also have a hard time gauging when I am full, but it is because I sometimes eat too fast. The best thing to do is like bunny said; figure out a set amount, eat it slowly and then wait about 10 or 15 minutes. If you are full, you should feel it by then. I know that I will eat four-six ounces and then 10 or 15 minutes I feel a definite full feeling. Good luck finding your full!
  2. I love it! It is quick and easy! I have been eating it almost every morning for the past month. I love it with almond milk, actually. I tried it with skim milk and it wasn't as good. I am not sure what amount of sugar we are supposed to get, but I figure that it is really the only sugar I am getting in in a day so I'm okay with it.
  3. I can't think of anything that I wish I would have asked. I felt like this board helped to prep me a lot. The number one bit of advice that I got from this board that I would never have thought of nor would my surgical team or nurses had suggested was this: ask for a heating pad for the pain in your shoulders after you get out of surgery. That was the worse pain that I had throughout, but I knew to ask for a heating pad and that made it go away right away! It was amazing! So that is my number one piece of advice. Since you are just starting out, you might not need that piece of advice for a while but when you do use it, it will be worth it!!

    Must.Stop.Weighing.Myself.

Step away from the scale! LOL...What I do is I weigh myself in the morning, or really whenever I get the urge, but I don't sweat it because I only have one official weigh date and that is the number that matters to me. Try making one day a week, biweekly, or a month the day that you are actually going to care about the number on the scale. Then, if your curious, you can weigh yourself here and there, but that number is not your official weigh day weight. Then, you can slowly ween yourself to that one day that you choose. Believe me, your weight goes up and down throughout the week and even in one day. It's not worth stressing over. I hope you are able to fight the scale demon!

Only 7 wks post op & pregnant.

Oops! I didn't realize that this was in the pregnancy/ sleeve board! I just went to recent posts!

Only 7 wks post op & pregnant.

Wow! I am seven weeks out as well and pregnancy is my number one fear! I definitely feel for you. If you plan on keeping the pregnancy, I am sure that there are ways to make it successful...There is a board on here for pregnancy after the sleeve. Maybe they will have some advice. Did your doctor make you do a blood test for pregnancy before your surgery. I know they were adamant about doing one for me the morning of mine. Good luck and I hope everything works out for you!

    I figured it out.

If warm soup goes down easy, will warm or room temperature water also go down easy? I know that I am weird because I prefer my beverages at room temp, but this might be something to consider. Good Luck!

    Taking cold meds

I would talk to your doctor or a nurse about this with you being so early out. I was 6 weeks out when I had a cold and needed cold meds and I had no problem taking them then, but I am not sure what they suggest for only three weeks. I hope you find your answer!

Hungry Or Empty Stomach Or In My Head?

Are you on an acid-reducer? Are you getting your liquids in? These both can give you the feeling of being hungry. Also, head hunger can make you do crazy things, too! I am 6 weeks out as well and I have had my fair share of fighting the urge to eat more. If I start feeling hungry, I will try sipping on some Water. That is usually enough to make that hungry feeling subside or go away completely. It sounds like you are eating about as much as me. Are you getting all of your Protein in for the day? Depriving yourself of protein can also make you feel hungry. Good luck on figuring this all out and on your weight loss journey!
  11. They woke me up in the recovery room and I barely remember that. That was the worst that I felt throughout this whole procedure, actually, and I think it was mostly because I was so cold and shaky. I fell back to sleep and I remember my husband getting on the elevator with me and then I fell asleep again. I don't remember them transferring me into the bed in my room at all. I woke up on and off but wasn't really fully awake for about 5 or 6 hours after the surgery. I could still fall asleep pretty easily, but I could make myself stay awake, which I couldn't do right away post-op. You will be tired and groggy from the anesthetic for a while after the surgery, but take advantage of it and get your rest that first day!
  12. I can only speak from the one month perspective, as I am 5 weeks out today but I have to say that I love the sleeve. I may be one of the lucky ones that have had no complications at all and I have had no problems getting in my Water and Protein and never have. Right now I am eating anywhere between 500 and 700 calories a day and am keeping my cars low. I haven't had a horrible time with head hunger, unless the food is right in front of me and then I excuse myself. In fact the "bad" thing that I treat myself to about once every other week is a flat diet Pepsi...I know...I'm living on the edge...lol Honestly, I playfully ask my surgeon when I see her if she even took my stomach out because I had barely any pain or problems that others deal with. Now don't go sabotaging yourself by comparing yourself to others because we are all different! I hope you have a great experience and learn to love your sleeve when you get it!
  13. I have to preface this by saying that I HATED the CPAP. I could not get rid of it fast enough! I didn't experience all of the energy and happy feelings that many CPAP users go on and on about. That being said, I haven't used my CPAP since surgery 5 weeks ago. My husband used to tell me all the time to put the CPAP on when I would try to sneak asleep without wearing it...lol...Since surgery he hasn't said anything. He says that he noticed a difference within the first two weeks. Now granted, I was barely in sleep apnea territory anyways and I lost 20 pounds in the first two weeks, but I was pretty impressed at how quickly it changed. And I will never put on a CPAP again!!! lol
  14. My first challenge! Luckily, I think I just broke through the notorious 3 week stall so hopefully I will be able to make my goal! I am 5 weeks post op today and will be about 10 weeks post on New Year's Day. Height: 5'8" HW: 290 First consult: 287 Pre-Surgical: 281 Today's weight: 256 GW:230
  15. Today has been exactly four weeks since my surgery! It is also Thanksgiving. And you know what? I don't even care! I figure that as long as I get my Protein in and I listen to my sleeve, I can splurge a little. By splurge, I mean have a bite of something that tickles my fancy. Just a bite, too! I am not going crazy on the things that I would normally, like rolls and coleslaw (my grandmother-in-law makes the best homemade coleslaw!) and potatoes and gravy. I didn't even have any of the above. It just didn't sound great to me! I had a bite of banana cream pie and it was delicious, but I refused to have any more! I really only had turkey and other things that have protein (deviled eggs, pickle wraps made with roast beef). I'm not even adding all of this into My Fitness Pal. Why? Because I think it is necessary to have a day to be more relaxed. I have stuck to a strict diet for the last month and I know that even out of all of the bites of things that I had, I haven't surpassed my personal calorie goal of 800. And if I did by a little, I am okay with that. Any other day, my heart would probably sink if that happened. Today, I am having a me day and it feels good. In short, Thanksgiving isn't getting the best of me! I am using moderation, my sleeve, and my protein first motto and am not missing my old way of eating at all! I hope all of you are having a great Thanksgiving with no cares!

    Sex?

I got home from the hospital on a Saturday and sexed it up on Monday I think...Just took it really easy...No problems!
  17. My doctor and nut have a 6 week plan, but told me that when I got to puree (where I am right now) I can go ahead and proceed as I feel comfortable. I have eaten chicken, tuna, and pork loin and haven't had any problems. I actually haven't had any problems with anything except for Cream of Wheat. Other than that, I have had an amazingly easy experience!
  18. I only had to stop certain medications and pills (ibuprofen, birth control). I took my vitamins up until the day before surgery. No problems!

    Bad Breath?!

It comes with a low carb diet. Many people who go through the Atkin's or any similar low carb diet experience halitosis. Like girl said, drink plenty of water and as your body adapts, it will get better!

    My Strange Side Affect

This is funny because I had a really vivid dream the other night! First, I had a nightmare and I woke up and couldn't get back to sleep for almost two hours because I was so stressed out and feeling down. What did I used to do when I was stressed out and down? Stress eat! So I fell back asleep and had a really, REALLY realistic dream that I ate half a large pizza, half a serving of buffalo wings, and a serving of chicken strips. After I ate all of that, which I did in like two seconds, I looked around at all of the carnage and thought "Oh crap! I had surgery. This is going to hurt!" and at that instance, the food bolus hit my stomach and it was the worse pain ever! It woke me up! The funny thing is the next day I was talking to one of my co-workers who specializes in substance abuse treatment and she laughed at me and said that her clients usually have really vivid "using dreams" right after they quit their drug of choice. It just goes to show that food addictions are real!

    Oh, The Gas ...the Gas!

The heating pad worked wonders for me! I had really bad gas pains in my shoulders and the heating pad melted them away! Congratulations on being on the other side!

    Had My Surgery 10-22

I am worried too! I had my surgery on 10-25 and have lost 17 pounds. The first week was 13 pounds and the second week only four. Part of me is okay with slow weight loss because it gives my skin time to bounce back, but at the same time I want the fast loss that it seems like everybody experiences. The slow weight loss makes me think that I might be heading for a stall. I am going to start going to the gym tomorrow as my doctor cleared me for most exercises and hopefully that will work! I haven't had any kind of problems at all and am getting in about 500 calories on average a day. Sometimes I am scared that this is too many at this point, but 330 of those are Protein drinks. On the other hand, 19 pounds in two weeks is pretty darn good! I just keep thinking that I would never have lost that kind of weight without this surgery. Good luck and I hope that if you do stall, it is a short one!
  24. I didn't go until about 4 or 5 days post op and there was barely anything and it was watery. I have been regular ever since.
