  1. I hear you about learning how to eat without a beverage next to you! I find that one of the hardest things is not gulping the water... learning how to sip, especially when you are really thirsty, is very hard! I can get my first fill in 2 weeks and the Dr. I see starts with 5cc's and then from there I get 1cc every two weeks till I find my sweet spot! Crazy how it works but am anxious to get to that next part... I am almost 3 weeks post op and feel good but am ready to move on! Good luck to you and best wishes on your journey.. you can do it!

  2. Welcome to you! You are in the tough part now. I am two weeks post op today and feeling very good... weirdist thing is feeling the port under my skin but other than that I feel great. The only time it hurts now is if my little one bumps me directly on it but otherwise I am pretty back to normal. I go to the dr. tomorrow for my post op appointment and am anxious to get on the scale... i haven't done it since I have been home! I also had a hernia repair that I didn't know about at all, found out from my husband after! It will get better, will be a few tough days but then you will be good to go and start your journey. Stay strong and best wishes to you!

  3. I think it is normal to be nervous or question things when dates become official. I mean yes there are risks.. I thought about them too! I only had my surgery less than 2 weeks ago and I am very happy with my decision to do this and am going to use the band to help me get to my goal and if something happens along the way that causes challenges I will figure it out at that time.... I can't live by the "what if's" and I honestly don't have time to think about it! Research everything, make the best decision for YOU and not for anyone else... you will in the end do the best thing for you! Good luck with all of it! :)

  4. Well I was told that Protein in the most important due to the fact that it helps keep our muscles and allows our body to use the fat as its source, so in essence, we lose the fat and keep our muscle. At this point my goal is only protein and liquid but I am new at this, only 10 days out, but I don't sweat it if I am 5 grams away from my protein but I ain for my 60 every day! Good luCk!

  5. Hi Amy!

Hope you are starting to feel better! I thought that honestly around day 5/6 I was actually feeling myself again (well as much as can be expected)! Good luck on your journey and we are all right there with you! I am 10 days out and still on liquids....

    Toni

  6. A tucked in shirt! Silly I know but I always wear a shirt with another shirt over it and open to hide my big butt! I'd like to tuck something in and have it look good without wearing another layer!!! I'm not an onion and even though "ogre's have layers" I don't want to!!! ( you can tell I have little ones who like the movie Shrek!)

  7. I did the same thing you did... found this site and used it as a great tool to learn more and ask my questions! I am 9 days after surgery and doing well... I am on here often to check and get info from others who have been there! The Dr's are wonderful but to really know a "how does this feel" question you need to ask people who have been there!

Good luck on your journey and I wish you all the best success in the world!

  8. Hi Everyone! I am officially 7 days post op now (Banded on the 16th) and I must say that I feel about 90% back! It is a good feeling too! A few days ago I was teary because I just couldn't pick up my 17month old daughter who was crying for me, but I wiped the tears, listened to my husband tell me that she will never remember that moment and got back focused! Last night I slept on my side with a pillow in front of my belly giving it a little support and I slept like a rock!

For those of you only a few days out it does get better quickly! I had a hernia repair too so I feel your pain! I do have a growling belly alot, but I just keep drinking my Water and having a half of a cup of Soup periodically helps ease that up. I know at times I am hungry but not interested or craving anything. I mean don't get me wrong, things look good but I have been too sore and through too much to even be tempted! I honestly hope I remember the pain and discomfort for the rest of my life when I have days when I want to stray from my plan!

Good luck everyone, we all are just starting a journey this month and it is going to be one heck of a ride!!

  9. I was on 48 hours of clear liquids and then I have to do 2 weeks of full liquids, strainable items, so no yogurt or puddings for me either. I then get to move on to puree type of liquids after two weeks. It is longer than others on here but my Dr. feels that this is best so it is what I'm going to do. Every doctor is so different which can be confusing to me but I will do whatever they say at this point!

Good luck getting through this time, I am right there with you ( 5 days post op for me)!!

  10. Way to go as far as moving around and getting up! I am 5 days post op and went back to work yesterday! It was not too bad, today was actually a little worse because I pushed it yesterday but I am glad I am up and walking most of the day... I too have a little one at home, well a 4 yr old and a 17 month old and it is challenging! Sit on the couch and let your little one sit on you that way, it has worked better for me than just denying her as she had no part in that!

I still have gas bubbles and discomfort, but I also had a hernia repaired at the same time so I wonder if it is harder or not but I have no idea! I wish you the best and continue the great job so far! We will all get there and the future is so much brighter for us now!

  11. Hi everyone! I am 5 days post banding and ended up having hernia repair as well. I have a question and since no one but people who have been through this know how things "feel" I come to you all!

Everytime I take a drink or swallow anything, about a second or two after I feel a tightening in my chest that releases itself about a second later. Is this how it feels? Is it normal? Does this last as how it will always be? I dont' know the answers to these questions yet and the dr's answer all the technical questions but if you all can look back to when you were a few days out (and maybe the hernia is part of it) and let me know how it felt when you drank your Water or swallowed anything. I am on liquids right now. I am doing my best to sip but even when I take the smallest (or what that seems to me) sip I feel the tight feeling after and then a release.

    Thanks in advance everyone!!

    Toni

  12. Sorry I didn't put that I just had surgery on Thursday.

I had mine done Thursday too so we are in the same boat. I feel tight in my chest when I try to breathe in deep. Right now I have a heatin pad on my chest. I think mine is getting better, I have been using gas-x strips and I am not sure if they are helping but I don't think it hurts to use them. My biggest pain is the port incision, sometimes it feels like needles! I hope for you and myself that tomorrow we start feeling good. I am scheduled to go back to work on Monday so I nervous and hopeful! Hope you feel better... We can at least chat our wy through some of the same thigs!
