  1. Hello So I am on three protein shakes a day. I've been struggling to get my protein shakes in so I had 3/4 of a hard boiled egg yesterday. In addition my husban had pizza.... I took a bite and chewed it and spit it out (just to get the taste). I think I swallowed a few small pieces by accident. Well then I had my protein shake at night with About a tablespoon of unsweetened applesauce (to get rid of shake taste in mouth). I felt very very full and was uncomfortable. This morning I woke up and had a bowel movement. But I still feel uncomfortable. It's like an extremely full feeling in my stomach and throat. Do you think the tiny tiny pieces of pizza did that? What do you think it is? I had my surgery on 4-24-12. I feel so full like I just ate a whole cow! But all I've had this morning is half a bottle of water...
  2. Hello, I was sleeved 4-24-12, and I had minimal gas pain - mostly in my rib cage. A few times recently, when I go for a walk, or when I go from sitting to standing, etc. I have this horribel almost burning sensation in my shoulders/upper chest. It's not heart burn or acid reflux. Don't really know how to explain it. Lasts for a few minutes max, but gets better. Anyone have anything like this>?
  3. Hello, So I posted a few days ago about struggling to get my Protein shakes in I'm supposed to do three shakes a day...and i'm struggling to just get 2 in. When I drink them, I just get so nauseous. In between sips, I just can't get rid of the disgusting flavor. I feel like a nasty film covers my entire mouth....my tongue, lips, teeth. The only way I can get rid of it is to vigorously brush my entire mouth...tongue and all. I'm drinking "pure protein" shakes. I just got a sample of powders?utm_source=BariatricPal&utm_medium=Affiliate&utm_campaign=CommentLink" target="_ad" data-id="1" >unjury chicken Soup - the smell of it alone made me nauseous and I had to sit down for a few minutes. I decided to try a sip....big mistake. I immediately spit it out and washed my mouth out. I'm going to do my best to drink my protein...but what happens if i don't get enough in? I'm struggling so bad, and I don't have my next dr appointment until the 14th...and they refuse to see me any earlier' I plan on when I can eat mushie's....to eat as many goddamn eggs as possible to get my eggs in that way - i just can't do these freaking Protein Shakes. On another note, i'm down 35 pounds since 4-24-12! Thanks!
  4. hello i drink "pure protein" shakes i have vanilla, chocolate, and Cookies and cream (all 120 cal's or less, adn 23 grams of protein) i haven't tried other shakes yet...cuz i bought 8 boxes of the stuff...at 8 dollars a box....so i kinda don't want to waste my money. does anyone reccommend a shake that tastes really really good?
  5. Hello, I am 1 week 1 day post-op. I did the whole first week on water/a few sf popsicles. On Monday, I was told to start my Protein shakes again - 3 a day (one for each meal) for two weeks. I am also to still be drinking Water. So, I have tried to get my Protein Shakes in, but i just can't tolerate it - what I mean is that pre-surgery i used to kinda just chug the drinks to get them in (because i had to) and the taste really didn't bother me. but now, i was told it should take me 1 hour to finish my 12 oz Protein shake...meaning i am sipping it very slow...meaning it spends more time in my mouth. i get half way through the shake, and i just can't take it. i feel like there is a disgusting film on my tongue, teeth, etc. there is even a film on my lips that i scrape off.. i have my next appointment with the dietician on the 16th of this month...a little over two weeks from when i started my protein shakes. because of the protein shakes...and the lack of "real" food...i honestly am feeling depressed and generally sad. i called my dietician's office to see if i could come in any earlier..and i stated that i was having problems and wanted to speak to the dietician. they said that because i am in a phase now (the protein shake phase) they could only move my appointment up to the 14th, and not any sooner. i was hoping to find out if the dietician had any advice for me on the protein shakes - how to get them down, perhaps ways to get them to taste better or not leave a film.... so, i guess i'm asking if anyone has any ideas/suggestions, or have gone through this. i feel like the next two weeks are going to be terrible, and more importantly i'm not going to be getting enough protein in. please help me! advice, support, encouragement! anythign will help! thanks!
  6. Hello, I just had my VSG this past tuesday. I was told that if I didn't have any sort of bowel movement by Saturday to take some milk of magnesia...so I took two teaspoons of milk of magnesia. Several hours later, i had a bowel movement, but it was extremely loose (pretty much liquid) but was brown in color. Since then, I've had about 5 more of these. I don't experience any sort of stomach ache, it's just that I think I am going to pass gas, but really I have to have a bowel movement. Does this sound normal? Anyone else experience this? I've been drinking Water, crystal light, sugar free popsicles, and a few teaspoons of Jello. Thank you
