Bariatric journey Multiple procedures Since 2019 Preparing for surgery

  1. It's totally normal to be scared. I think I was the same way. I'm about 4.5 months post op and I don't deprive myself. It's all about making smart choices, but there's no food that I've had to give up entirely. You will just need to eat smaller portions, chew a lot, and take smaller bites. Good luck!
  2. I was self-pay and plication was a little bit more.
  3. Recovery for me was the same as what I heard from people who just had the band (and no plication). I stayed 1 night in hospital. By day 4-5 I was feeling a lot better. I had surgery on a Tuesday and was back to work the following Monday.
  4. I had Lapband with plication in May. I've had 2 small fills. I'm happy with my weight loss so far and I'm glad I got the plication. Let me know if you want more info or have questions!
  5. checking in at 188.5 (down from 192!)
  6. I didn't have to do liquids except for the day before surgery. I did watch my calories and ate high protein for the 2 weeks before surgery (on my own; not doc's orders).
  7. i agree w/ the other posters. i think the cold liquid probably didnt help. i've noticed every day is different for me...sometimes I get stuck easily, sometimes not at all.
  8. Agree with mis73. My doc specifically doesn't like to discuss fill details with patients because people can become obsessed and compare themselves to other people. Everyone's body is different and will react differently to various fills.
  9. Agree w/ lovethenewme. Try not to weigh yourself right now since you're still healing. I hit a plateau about a month after surgery, but I was still losing inches.
  10. I stayed 1 night in the hospital and had my dad drive me home the next day. I live alone and I was fine. It was a little hard getting in/out if bed, but overall I was fine and didn't need help. Good luck!
  11. Agree. Abs were weird at first.
  12. i had to wait a month before doing anything except walking.
  13. I also take cymbalta. I skipped 1 day for surgery but then I was able to take the pill the next day.

  15. Gotta say my plication has been good but I'm not losing a ton like I thought I might. I've gotten 2 fills. I think the band, the plication, and me all need to work together. I do get full faster, but I need to really track my calories to lose weight.
