    Desperately Needs Help!

Sorry, you aren't feeling great. I would recommend peppermint tea to get rid off gas and settle the stomach. Can you not have clear soup after a few days if you like savory? Bear with it, things will get better, I promise. I was operated on 26th June and feel better every day (apart from the few odd days).

    Biotin & Hair Loss

I am to go to my doctors every 6 months for blood tests to see if I have any nutricianal deficiencies. They say that I will probaby need B12 shots, but not long enough out of surgery yet to need anything.

    Stupid Scale!

I am 2 1/2 weeks post op and returned to work a couple of days ago. I have decided to walk to and from work (approx 5 miles round trip) and have put on 2lbs. I also came home today and slept for 2 hours I was so tired. I am hoping it's a blip and walking 5 miles a day and my reduced intake will soon see the lbs drop off (fingers crossed).

    Drinking Straws

When I was in hospital after the op all I was allowed was water for the first day and a half. The water was served with a straw. I take all cold fluids with a straw and had no problems.

    Soda After Sleeve?

I have been told no soda and I love diet coke. Do you guys get Soda Stream in America? If so, I bought the diet coke syrup that you buy for the soda stream and mix it with water. Hey presto, completely flat diet coke.

    Can't Get A Full Feeling.

I am 11 days post op and today was my first day of soft foods. As per my diet sheet I had a very small amount of porridge for breakfast, cheese and onion omelet for lunch and fish in a white sauce for dinner. It took me ages to eat each meal as I chewed and chewed it and I had no problems. I felt full all day.

    Swimming

Thanks for your advice everyone. I am not really a fan of the gym but would like to do something other than walk. It looks like I will have to give the pool a miss for a while, I am only on Day 8 post op.

    Trouble Sleeping

How long are you post op? I had the same problem. I could only get a few hours sleep at night and even that was broken sleep and then in the daytime I couldn't stay awake and kept dozing off. I went to the pharmacy and they gave me a bottle of medicine - Phenergen (I'm in England so they probably wont have it there but might have an equivalent). It's for hay fever and anti-travel sickness but can be used to help with sleep. Once I started taking that and being able to sleep on my front again I have been getting a much better sleep at night. I now get 7 hours unbroken sleep and have little daytime dozing. I am 6 days post op. Speak to your pharmacist and see if they can give you anything. Good luck x
  10. The example diet sheet my dietician gave me for days 4-11 is as follows: Breakfast - 1 glass of milk (skimmed or semi-skimmed) Mid-am - 1 glass of milk and 1 small pot of sugar free jelly lunch - 1 cup of soup and 1 cup of milk Mid pm - 1 small pot of custard Evening - 1 Protein shake Supper - 1 glass of milk. Unlimited Water It's now 5.10pm in the uk and I am still on the mid pm custard. I am taking it very slowly.

    Death To The Scale

I don't own a pair of scales as pre-surgery I know I would be too upset to see what I weigh. I have ordered some which should be here next week. I assume I have lost some so it hopefully won't be too much of a shock when I stand on them. I will also limit myself to a weigh in once a week when they do arrive. I used to be obsessed by weighing myself a few years ago and I have no intentions of going back to a daily weigh in.

    Sleeping Problems

I got given dissolvable paracetemol and tablet form of codeine (tiny tablets) as my pain meds. They don't make me sleepy. I sleep with 4 pillows as I can't lie any flatter due to the pain. I am dozing during the day, but I just can't sleep for too many hours at night. I would normally sleep 7-8 hours and instead I am lucky to get 4 and that sleep is a broken sleep.
  13. I had my op on Tuesday and slept for most of the day afterwards, but it seems I now can't sleep more than 4 hours at a time. In bed I am lying on my back propped up with 4 pillows as I can't sleep any flatter. I was awake at 5.30am this morning after a restless night, but doze off in my armchair for an hour every so often. Do you think it's ok to take something in liquid form to help me sleep?

    Sleeping Problems

That's my problem too, staying asleep. Hopefully this will change when my incisions heal and I can resume my normal sleeping position on my front. I saw the pharmacist this morning and he has given me some liquid sleeping aid. Fingers crossed I can get some decent sleep tonight. I don't want to doze during the day, especially when Wimbledon is on :-)

    Sleeping Problems

I am 3 days post op. I thought I would be sleeping for hours, not struggling to sleep. There is a medicine in the UK called Nightnurse which I think is meant for colds but is known for making you drowsy. I have a pharmacy close by I think I will go in for a chat with them today and see what they recommend.

    Caffeine?

My surgeon and my diet sheet haven't mentioned caffeine at all. Why are we meant to stay clear of caffeine?
  17. Sleeved on the 26th and got out today. Pain is OK and taking on fluids OK. Looking forward to some creamed soup on Saturday. Bit of a problem with my temperature post op but it came down overnight hence why I got released today.
  18. I had my sleeve done on Tuesday and just got released and home today. I had tears on the day before surgery, more tears the morning of surgery, some in the recovery room and some more today. My emotions are all over the place. However I know that I couldn't continue with the weight I was. The back pain and being uncomfortable in my own body. I am glad I had the surgery done and look forward to losing the weight and feeling great again :-)
  19. Luckily I am just on a 1 week pre-op diet. Credit to everyone doing longer as it's driving me crazy. I even went to work at the weekend to keep me busy rather than be at home near the fridge! My surgeon has me on a week of fat free yoghurt and Unlimited cups of bovril (not sure if you have this in America, but it's like beef stock to drink). I did add baked Beans for the first 4 days too as I was allowed them on my pre op diet for the band (although they weren't on the list for this surgery). I am so tired and have no energy as well as a lot of headaches. I wish you luck, it's really tough. Maybe you can call and ask if there is something solid you can add too. All the best x

    Any June Sleevers?

Well it's the big day tomorrow for me. I have had my band in and out a few years later and was fine, but for some reason today I am really tearful. Maybe it's because it's a bigger op and a bigger recovery time, I don't know. I am just really worried this time round :-(
