    I Blew It Today!

Yeah I have to agree...I don't think you did anything wrong. Just because I got this surgery doesn't mean I'm going to deny myself of every single "bad" food. Today, I had a handful of sour cream and onion chips - they are my weakness!! But, before I would have had an entire bag of them...I'm pretty happy that 5 or 6 of them is all I want now!! Stop being so hard on yourself!

    Ten Month Comparison

Did you have any stalls or moments you were discouraged? I am three weeks post-op and I haven't lost anything since I left the hospital. Its very discouraging!
  4. Hi everyone This monday (4/16) will be three weeks since my VSG surgery. The first two weeks I was having some complications and couldn't keep anything down. I lost 25lbs. Within the past week I have started to keep some soft food down but I gained 1lb and haven't lost any weight in the past week. Does anyone know if this is normal? I'm getting so worried that I won't loose anymore weight!!!!

    2 Year Anniversary

I love your post, its very inspirational! I'm 3 weeks out and I haven't lost any weight since over a week ago. Do you remember if this is normal? I haven't started exercising yet, but I was just going over the schedule at the YMCA last night and I plan to start monday morning! What types of exercise do you suggest?

    Jealousy

I would definitely start by telling him everything you just wrote... and counseling is the best idea! Also, let him know that you won't let him control you...that is very important. I really hope everything starts to get better for you!!

    Worried About Weight Loss

I haven't started excersizing at all yet. I have just been kind of tired and weak...and getting used to not eating is really hard for me!
  8. I'm three weeks out and YES!! The first few days I couldn't get anything down! It wasn't until over a week later I started really drinking my protein shakes. For the first week I focused just on water. Also, drinking crystal light instead of plain water makes it so much easier. Don't worry about it so much now. Make sure your getting all your water in, because I wasn't and I got dehydrated..you really don't want that!! Every single day it will get easier. Now, I get all my water and protein in everyday and some soft food too!

    Does Anyone Have Any Regrets?

I have to say, this past week has really changed my thoughts. I feel so much better. The only thing I am worried about now is that It seems like I stopped loosing wieght. Is this normal?
  11. Thanks for posting. I'm only 2 1/2 weeks out after my surgery, but I haven't lost anything in the last 4 or 5 days! I was starting to get depressed and feel like I was doing something wrong, but when I think about it...my clothes are so big on me then when I first started!! This was a good reminder!

    Does Anyone Have Any Regrets?

Thanks Kathy, It definitely helps having this support forum here. I think I would have gone crazy for the past 2 weeks if I didn't have all of you, knowing what I'm going through. Like you said, its not about thinking that I can't have the food the rest of my life....its actually about thinking that I will never be able to fully enjoy it for the rest of my life. But, I'm sure that takes getting used too, rather than acceptance lol. Thanks for your comment. I really am feeling better about everything!!

    Does Anyone Have Any Regrets?

I don't feel exactly the same way as everyone else. I am only 2 weeks out after having surgery on March 26th. I am still getting used to the idea that I will never be able to go back to the way I used to be (with food). I am not sure if thats regret because the way things used to be wasn't healthy! I never imagined I would have such a feeling of loss just because I couldn't eat. I'm definitely still mourning food, but at the same time I know this was a good decision. I just turned 31 on Friday and I know that if I continued the way I was I would start to have health problems. So, ultimately, I would tell you that if you are scheduled for surgery, there is a reason for that. Think about the outcome and why you started this journey in the first place...it will get easier everyday.
  14. I hear that weight loss is different with everyone. I actually had a bad recovery and ended up staying in the hospital for over a week. My heart rate was really low and I got severely dehydrated....so by the time I left the hospital I had already lost 20 lbs, but not in a good way. Now, I think I have lost almost 30lbs total and I'm 2 weeks out.

    What Did I Do?

I had my surgery on 3/26/12 and I feel the same way you do. I have been very sad because I feel like I'm never going to be "normal" again. My parents are here for easter, and I am married with 2 children. I keep cooking for them because the smell of food makes me feel a little bit better. But, I am so hungry! I am still on liquids for the most part, although I have been eating some greek yogurt, applesauce, and small pieces of cheese. I cannot wait to feel normal! I feel like this is a nightmare that will never end!
  16. I had my surgery on 3/26/12 as well. You sound much better than I'm doing... I'm still feeling really low - regretful - and I can't stop thinking that I made a mistake. I'm glad your doing well!!
