    Hair

I experience hair loss that freaked me out. I too had very thick hair like Imbordelon. My hair has really bounced back nicely and I was NEVER even CLOSE to bald like I worried I would be. I took biotin for a while and now I take a supplement from the vitamin aisle that is for hair, skin & nails. I think it is a mixture of the supplements and me being able to get my protein in with no problems now that have brought my hair back to life. It is still thinner than it was but I'm OK with that.

    Psych Eval Today

I agree, just be honest and don't over think things. My evaluation lasted about an hour but they made me take a test like I was in school. I felt like a little kid. But it was OK. You wanted more info so I will tell you (and don't let it freak you out PLEASE) that I didn't "pass" my evaluation. They recommended that I continue with counseling because my self esteem was SO low (which they determined from the test I took). I went a couple more times and they approved me for surgery (obviously since I'm post-op) but I still go to the tharapist by my choice. I LOVE HER!! She loves me too and not just because my insurance pays her!!

What Is Everybody Having For Lunch?

I think you are talking about your daily intake. I am working to maintain and I eat 2000 calories a day and have been successful for the last 3 months at this pace. (This is JUST FOR ME, I'm not educated in this field.) I personally only listed what I ate for lunch. If I told you everything I ate yesterday you would get bored real quick because it is a long list. I feel like I eat constantly too and I worry about "grazing" like it's my job!! What I'm trying to get at is you're probably OK and you shouldn't stress when comparing what others have listed here on this thread. Any concerns about if you're "OK" or not should be taken up with your doctor or nutritionist. As I said we were only talking lunch, not all day food intake. Hope that makes you feel better!

    No Straw Ever!

I was told the exact same thing.

What Is Everybody Having For Lunch?

I had 1/4 cup Egg Beaters 3 Cheese with 1 slice of bacon crumbled into it. I mixed in a Laughing Cow Light Queso Fresco Chipolte wedge. 138 Calories...
  6. I ran soup through my blender and then strained it with a fine strainer. It was still liquid but it was SOUP!!
  7. I always say you should follow doctor's orders. They do have the medical background and they aren't just telling us to do these tough things because they want to be mean or on the safe side. You will find on many threads here that EVERYONE is different and just because your friend ate right up until the day of surgery doesn't mean that will work out for you. I'm only giving my opinion, of course, but if I were you I would forget about the last couple of days and concentrate on doing what the doctor ordered from now on. Don't beat yourself up about what already happened, just change the future. After all, that is what we are all here to do...change our future! I know it is TOUGH!! Good luck!

    Best Scale?

I always say don't buy a scale. Don't weigh yourself, that's what the scale at the doctor's office is for. Just my opinion, of course.
  9. I hear what your saying about "forgetting" to eat. And to think, I used to get pi**ed when someone would tell me they "forgot" to eat. I could have throttled them..now I get it!
  10. It's funny, even though I KNOW I was fat...until I saw myself in a picture, the way I look 117 pounds lighter is how I always "saw" myself when I looked in the mirror. I know it's weird! As far as the clothes go, I bought a lot a Goodwill and I still do.
  11. OK, I have been at this for nine months now. I got hit on way more when I was fat than I do now. Mind you, I was married then and still am now...but a girl notices these things. Some women hate the attention but I always found it flattering. Now I'm wondering if they thought it was easier to pick up a fat girl than it is to pick me up. (no pun intended on the pick up thing) So what's up with that?
  12. Yes! I love the That is one of my favorite things as well!!

    Having A Rough Day...

I'm sorry this happened! Don't give up! I know what it is like to feel like the only one TRYING to get along with everyone. Next time maybe concentrate on the conversation going on at the lunch table and less on your food. You know...chat, chat, chat...bite...chat, chat, chat...bite, repeat. I say this not being a good conversationalist myself so take it as it is, just a thought, nothing I've practiced.
  14. I bragged a couple of days ago about finishing the 30 Day Shred...I am just now able to walk like my legs arent stilts!! :)

    Family Friendly Recipes

Hungrygirl.com is a great place for recipes. I do have to say, as much as I love her, most of them are only one or two serving recipes. My kids love them though!! She is GREAT for dessert because you don't have tons sitting around you just make what will be consumed in one sitting (maybe not right after surgery).

    Question For The Ladies

It kind of sounds like a pain I have experienced before. (I too have had two c-sections.) I told a nurse friend of mine about it and she said that it could be that I was ovulating at the time. She said that at times you can experience a bit of pain with ovulation...all part of that PMS thing I guess. I'm not sure of your status as far as ovulation but I thought I would share my experience.
  18. To quote a Prince song "You got that horn so why don't you blow it?"...Actually he was probably singing about something else but...you should be proud and flaunt the new you! I sure hope I can stay at my goal for nine months and beyond! Thanks for sharing some inspiration!
  19. I ran soup through the blender and then strained out any remaining pieces. The thought of pureed meat groses me out as well and so does baby food! I was fine with the soup. I usually had bean soups to get some Protein without the meat. I could never stand any protein replacements (shakes, powders, etc.). My first three months were not great as far as getting in protein. I did lose some hair (I get plenty of protein now and take a hair and nail supplement) but I was never in danger of being put back in the hospital. Basically what I am saying is try and find a food you can tolerate (or think you can) with as much protein as possible. Most likely you won't be perfect but if you follow doctor's orders as best you can you should be OK. As far as nausea, I had the patch behind my ear while I was in the hospital. I came home with nothing but pain meds.

    No Straw Ever!

I was told not to drink during meals but to leave a 30 minute time frame between liquids and solids. I always order a glass of water just in case I would get something stuck in my throat or something weird like that. I haven't used a straw but I haven't needed the water during any of my dining experiences.

    Fantastic idea!

    Sex... Oh My God... Sex!

Actually, that is totally what I wanted to say Louise...I was just trying to be nice to the hubby! And ouroborous, I didn't mean it as a slam in any way. I seriously would brag! It's OK to feel like a stud after feeling like a dud for years!! Pat yourself on the back, it's OK.

    Sex... Oh My God... Sex!

Thanks for bragging...I mean being brave enough to share your wonderful experience. Heck I would brag too...if it would have happened to me!
  24. I am at 9 months out. I feel like I eat all the time and stretching is also one of my big worries. I totally agree with those of you who have said, as my doctor has, that we need to stop when we no longer feel hungry...not when we are full. Sounds the same, but it is totally different. I too have never thrown up since getting my sleeve. I have had a few close calls where I was sure it would happen, but I have managed to get by. I don't eat bread or Pasta. Occasionally I will eat a tortilla. I do, however, eat Belvita breakfast biscuits and I can eat the whole package. It worries me because I LOVE (no really I LOVE them) them. I have also started eating rice cakes with Peanut Butter. I had to tell myself no rice cakes with peanut butter today. Anyone else doing these things? I feel so naughty!
  25. O.T.R. -- you're funny! I like that you are matching your food prep tools with your truck's color scheme. FeelsMe2 -- I am only 9 months out and I do still use mine quite a bit. I make a lot of the Hungry Girl frozen drink recipes in it. My son, who is 15, uses it quite a bit too. I didn't buy it myself but I'm sure I would feel I got my monies worth out of it by now and it is still going strong. The only thing I can say is that you NEED to make sure you have enough liquid in the container when mixing or it does seize up the blades. It isn't a permanent thing, it just makes a terrible noise and the blender is smelly. The $29.95 price tag seems to be the going rate, although Meijer.com (hope I'm allowed to list this info, not giving a plug just trying to be helpful) has the yellow, pink and green versions for $24.99 on "clearance".
