  1. First week of December I had 1/4cc unfill out of 6cc in my 10cc band. All of my yucky symptoms subsided from a too tight restriction. I'm staying at same weight since December 7...so I need advice. I am feeling hungry between meals, I'm keeping 60-70 gms of protein up, exercising 3-4 times per week with cardio and weights. I have great energy and got into a size 10...no complaints on that, but I haven't got goal and I'm afraid to get a fill again because I'm afraid to be too restricted. I think I want to have a fill so has anyone ever asked their surgeon for a 1/8 cc fill????? Crazy I know but I do think I need a fill, just don't know how much now.

    What can smallest fill be?

Thank you for responses. I will see if he can put 1/8cc back in.

Anyone have less than 1/2cc fill?

Yes I am now at 1/4cc fills in past three months.

    Energy

I was tired for atleast 7 weeks after surgery. I increased my protein and hydrated which helped. But sleep and rest were equally important. I was Able to feel like exercising ( or at least walking) by third month along working long days. It will get better:)

    Paranoid About Getting Stuck!

My stuck feeling feels like a knife jabbing my sternum...between my breasts above stomach. It hurts but not like you will die. I have the deer in headlights look when it happens...but you will learn your body responses and subtle hints it can happen.

    Excited, Scared, Confused!

You will love your band if you follow the rules, embrace a pace that works for you, be patient, get support:) good luck you will be a success!
  7. Also I'm happy with my results...10 pounds to goal, two years banded and have developed a lifestyle not just a diet.
  8. I don't even look at stats, I follow the rules as much as possible so there are no complications. Understanding the band is not for everybody...however I know some who did not have success with bypass. So there are going to non-successes. I also think that support in after care is very crucial to success.

Be Honest- Is Banded Life Hard?

What I like about the band is...when your tummy is full...the band pretty much stops you in your tracks. I have done friends with bypass. That feeling doesn't happen till after they have eaten too much...pay now pay later. I love my band it is such a behavior tool that has been successful for me:)
  12. Yes! Had unfill first week of December. I did lose weight with too much restriction but I was tired, stopped exercising, and felt miserable. I was also malnourished, pale, and I had pain between shoulder blades, purged atleast twice a week always felt stick and uncomfortable eating. Now...I'm at Golds four times a week, I can eat healthier now, I've dropped jean size but not so much weight, and I sleep better. I needed the unfill to feel good again. I'm still eating cup to cup and a half per meal... The difference now? I now need to have a healthy snack in between meals...that's all. It's a balance.

    It's just time spent.....

So true! Words of wisdom! It's hard to think two years back from the beginning of this journey. It hasn't been negative, a few bumps in the road but overall pleasant experience and in the end a huge sense of accomplishment. As I get closer to goal (within pounds), I realize that activity level and exercise is now the key to get me there. I don't know if I could have done this without band...in fact I couldn't. But looking back I question why I didn't do this without the band.

    How to start again

I started out with small fills and I'm glad I went slow. Two years out and only one unfill recently. I have tried to take the journey slower than many. It's up to you and how you feel about eating rules and restriction. Good luck I know you will be successful:)
  15. I get the "angel wing" to left shoulder pain if I eat too fast or if my band is too tight. That's why I truly follow my surgeons rule for liquids only three days after fill. Every doc is different but mine is conservative. Then I am sensitive in my stomach and eating for almost a week to two weeks after fill. It's a pattern after my fills that I have learned. So I know that the first couple weeks I have to start out on mushies and foods I know I can tolerate:)

    Green zone?

I also have heard the green zone also called the "sweet spot" meaning you are eating a small portion(1-1/2c of healthy food), losing weight steadily 1-2 pounds per week, and satisfied between meals, with healthy snacks. Water intake good. There is a chart I think someone posted.

    need an unfill??!??

How do I know for me...I've only had one unfill which surgeon said this is what the band tells us when you ate uncomfortable. First, if I am following the rules and still having issues along with pain, pain in back and shoulders, discomfort as food goes down, regurgitation that is more frequent, basically that red zone on chart. Also you can't get enough protein or water down, tend to use slider foods. You will know. I waited about two weeks after my initial fill that sent me over the edge. I waited another two weeks and them realized this was not the direction I should go. The unfill did help, I'm healthier, have not gained any since, but have not lost so its bittersweet. You just don't want a slip and you want to be healthy. I may consider a fill after January.

    Too tight or normal..

Be so careful...you don't want to get in habit of purging. Can maybe cause a slip. I kind of went through this for a few weeks realized I was not nourished enough, using slider food, and eventually horrid pain that led me to unfill a tiny bit...was so relieved! I will eventually get a fill when my body is ready or if I do gain a few pounds. In meantime I'm back to yummy salads, good protein and energy to exercise.

    What's your goal weight?

Surgeon told me with height and age, body build....my goal weight is 154...I'm 5.5 tall. 45 years old. I went from 276 down to 162...a good 8-10 pounds to go.

Be Honest- Is Banded Life Hard?

Following the rules pay off. You don't want your band too loose and you don't want your band too tight. The green zone is where you want to be. But once you have the majority of your weight off, you have to work harder at following the rules...more so you have to be more active and healthy by exercising and moving! The more restricted your band is the more you have to abide by the rules ( corrected you should follow rules all the time) but the band will tell you when you are not. I'm two years out and I don't regret it at all. I've lost 113 pounds with 10 more pounds to goal. I'm experiencing a plateau but I'm healthy and feel good...I'm not in a rush for these last pounds.

    Starting Over

I'm so glad you posted this as my band was pretty tight in November. I chose to unfill a bit 1/4 cc and it really made a world of difference. I can eat about cup to cup and a half of food three times a day with a couple of snacks and my 64 oz H20...more amazing is that I have energy and can workout. Not so much worried about weight just health. Sitting at 162 goal is 154...waiting to see how I feel in January.

I feel like such a fraud

It's exciting to be able to go shopping with your 12 year old at the mall and walk into the local Aero shop to buy a nice "on sale" top. I never dreamed I could shop there!!!! It's amazing how my closet is filling up! Not only clothing but exercise outfits, yoga pants, swim suits. I'm slowly putting the big girl clothes away. Almost in a solid size 10 after banded 12/21/10...almost there!!!!!
