Can It Really Hurt Me?
Skyvic replied to katiecakes's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Please try to follow the rules to make sure your band is ok. I know it can be difficult til you get a fill, but it is so important to follow those rules:) -
I would continue to do exactly what you are doing.

O I was discouraged about my long awaited fill in August. So of course I vented. Realizing there are people out here that understand, I knew I had to work harder and if course be patient. I added a step class, changed my workout, ate carefully, and finally I am down 1.5 pounds. I really loathe plateaus, but now know its is not forever. So thank you all for the positive encouragement. I can do this!

Zofran if your surgeon can call in a prescription. It melts in your mouth. There is also liquid phenergen.

I have a tendency to take too big of bites and not chew enough. As we get more restricted with our fills, those chewing and size rules are sure going to have an impact on how we feel. Good luck.

1St Fill Not So Good Plus A Question
Skyvic replied to Mlivingston04's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
My doc gave me a prescription of lidocaine to rub on wy port area thirty minutes before procedure, cover with plastic wrap and medical tape to hold it down. It should be "blanched" on the skin which appears lighter and numb. He also offers a lidocaine shot if I want it and usually I don't. -
I'm told three days by my surgeon because the stomach is being messed with (tightened), going on full liquids allows the stomach to adjust and heal. Every doctor is different. By the third day in afternoon I'm ready for a nice thick bowl of soup:)
-
It's betadine or iodine a disinfectant that sanitizes the skin during a fill. My surgeon is so sweet and makes sure he tells me the procedure he is doing and cleans it up.

Gosh that's pretty small. I sometimes don't realize how big my bites are and I don't think I chew enough (supposed to chew 30 times, right?) just went to a class on mindfulness. Talked about wise eating vs rational and emotional eating. I found it interesting that all too often we aren't really paying attention to our eating... The texture, the smell, the taste, size, etc.

I ready for Vegas hopefully next year.

Wow I guess I never thought of saving the band...I am really concentrating on eating smaller portions and exercising to get weight down until August 1, my next fill. I'm at 5.5cc and this feels like it could be a potential fill that could work for me or be quite restricted. So in the meantime I just work harder. I am trying to learn for life the right way to eat but it's tuff that's why I'm here.

Vacationing With People Who Don't Know
Skyvic replied to MemphisFan's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I used to be fairly quiet and I'm a director of a child care center. Patents questioned my weight loss along with great compliments. I haven't held back in letting them know I had lapband. I haven't had any sideway looks. They congratulate me. But it would be tough to travel. Whatever you feel comfy with:) -
Is 5.5 Cc Alot To Have In Your Band A Yr Out
Skyvic replied to joleng5's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I have a 5.5cc in my 10cc band. There is no way on heavens earth I could even eat the bread...I could probably eat the innards and no chips. Everyone is individual in what they can get through their band. I'm fairly restricted now but need a small fill. -

A Question For Anyone Who Has Been Stuck.
Skyvic replied to gottobeme's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
My nose will begin to drop once I've realized that I might have taken too big of a bite or didbt chew enough so: 1-swallowed too much 2-nose drips 3-oh crap 4-dear in headlights 5-question to self, " do I wait for a minute or make a beeline to bathroom?" 6-no time to think about contemplating just go and hope I make it as I'm clammy and sweating. -
Well you certainly can't attend a college sorority party and participate in the beer bong challenge ( wouldn't anyways I'm in my forties and done with college)

2Nd Fill Today And Feeling Discouraged
Skyvic replied to Tricia39's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I use full liquids for 3 days after fill as my doctor advises. It jump starts weight loss again plus heals after fill. I only use Protein shakes after hardcore workout as my snack. That's the tough part about those fills...when you are too restricted, you use sliders. There was one fill in which it seemed I had to really stay with soft foods for about two weeks. Didn't feel great st all. But during that time I had cottage cheese, low call Soups, yogurt, soft meats mushed up, and very careful rules on chewing and size of bites. -
You should be fine but follow doctors rules. Full liquids for whatever he/she advises. I took it easy on first fill, stomach a little queasy because they are messing with it. But overall felt fine.
