How Did You Decide Your Goal Weight?
Skyvic replied to ontherighttrack's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I'm 5'5"" and my estimated goal weight from my surgeon for me should be 154 lbs. I wanted 140, he said that's just too small. -
Ask your surgeon for Zofran its anti nausea med and can help you during tummy bugs and rare events such as this.

To me the green zone is a period of time in which you are satisfied with your three healthy meals and two small snacks' date=' your Water intake. You are following good rules and you are not hungry in between meals. At the same time you are losing weight steadily without so much hunger. This is the only way I can describe my green zone. It's not necessarily about restriction as it is about satisfaction throughout your day with less calories.

What Is Your One Main Motivation?
Skyvic replied to ☠carolinagirl☠'s topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
My family...to live healthy for myself with my husband and kids. -
I'm so glad that others opt for conservative fills. I have good insurance and that's a blessing. Otherwise I couldn't do this. I definitely can fill this 1/4cc adjustment. Makes a huge difference! I am in green zone!

Might want to really get knowledge from the lapband companies too. Lots of investigating. I follow my doctor advice and try to with nutritionist. But also human in the things I can still enjoy, my coffee and creamer. Ok I know I could go sugar free and fat free on it. Just haven't found the right creamer. No carbonation for me and I do not tolerate bread at all.

Want to add that it's not always going to be weekly losses. You may get out of your green zone and have struggles. That is what we call life:) just listen to your body. At times I hesitated to get my fills ( not always the greatest idea). But overall I'm still doing well with my loss.
-
To add, I asked for 1/4cc more fill. So I think I'm at 5.75

You know for me, the first two weeks after my most recent fills, it took a second week to feel normal again. I opted for Soups, yogurts, soft mushies even into second week. Which I am in now. Just today I had some deviled ham, slowly. Had hearty lentil Soup from my mom and dad's house...yum! Felt like a great meal going down. So I should be on the road to regular foods.

1-2 pounds per week is amazing!

Know that some don't count calories and some do. I am working harder to get to goal with exercising and eating one cup per meal. What kind of calories are you eating if you do count them. I have not up until about two weeks ago. I can't seem to get more than 1,000. But my fitness pal says eating too low...what to do? Just add Protein shakes?

Can I add you to my fitness pal? Skyvic
-
Thanks I added you thx u!
-
Yes I'm not even drinking as much Water lately. I'll try the special k in water too:) thx
-
Thank you so much. I love my fitness pal font know how to use it other than working on my diary and exercise. Haven't added any persons. But I sure like the way it tracks anything! I'm going to go with 1,000 calories and really focus on Protein.

I get small belches but maybe this is from sealing air or too big bites..not sure anyone else?

I had a fill 1/4cc last Tuesday. Was fine going to Vegas but once I got there we were in hot sun and 110 degrees but by the pool a lot. Had a rough time with food. Mostly had soup, yogurt, hummus and a few soft items from whole foods salad bar. These mysterious bands!!!! And our crazy bodies!
-
I don't think dumping syndrome happens with band but I could be wrong. Your body has gone through major surgery, anesthesia, and you have been on liquid. Good luck and remember this is a journey. You may not feel a lot different until your fills. Just stay informed and follow the rules:)

I am a quantity eater and my surgeon and I felt this would be the best surgery for me. My sister has Barrett's esophagus and was unable to get the band. I'm glad I chose this. My other sis had gastric about 10 years ago. She's over weight again.

Banded 12/21/11 from 267 to now at 179. Size 24 down to an almost 12 ... Some 14s. I have enjoyed this journey with a few ups and downs. No regrets, I feel healthy and exercise now. I can move better and do more things with family!
-
Well if it makes you feel better I tried a half of an in and out cheeseburger last night...after a fill last Tuesday, a burger was not a good idea. It was over cooked so after the fourth small bite I knew it was not the best choice for my stomach....head hunger yep I was there. Two hours later I opted for a Protein shake that was perfect!

I'm 18 months out. I also get Charlie horses in my left shoulder blade. Not so much anymore but the first six months all the time. It's funny how are bodies react.
-
Yep I've learned the hard way a few times. Keep your band safe by following those golden rules to take small bites, chew chew chew, make hearty choices, no drinking 30 min before or after a meal, and do your best not to get stuck. Throwing up can be a bad thing but I understand it happens that sliming panic occurrence! I have realized our band is a tool to help change our bodies.
