I'm a firm believer of conservative fills and realize my band journey has been slower but successful in surgeon and team's eyes. I've got 25 pounds to goal and know that another fill could make it or break it on if it is too tight. So in the meantime, I wait until October 15/16 to see how it goes before my appontment.

Length Of Hospital Stay
Skyvic replied to farmgirl04's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I agree with you...I wish I had stayed the night. Surgery in morning but did not get released until 10:00 at night...just until my oxygen levels came up...but it was also nice to be in comfort back at home with husband and kids who took good care of me. -

I Can't Figure Out Where My Port Is.
Skyvic replied to yourshoesareuntied's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My port sits above and left of belly button, surgeons preference. The last fill I had he had me put my fingers to feel my port and kind of jiggle the area. My surgeon is so awesome and very precise and neat with the fills. Never have had a problem and he still asks me if I want lidocaine at the site....so sweet and good bedside manners. -
I'm getting so close to goal. Congrats to you and keep up the good work, empower others, mentor our band forum, and take good care of yourself...you deserve it!!!!

Green zone to me now means three nutritious meals about 1/2 cup, not hungry in between meals. Water and low cal drinks go down fine and keep me satisfied. No stuck episodes just smooth eating, regular exercise, and steady weight loss. Overall feeling good...no reflux or regurgitating, burping to a minimal. I enjoy my meals in green zone!

I have heard that soda can stretch your pouch or any carbonated beverage. I stay clear of it but gave been looking at the forum regarding dislodging a stuck episode. Haven't tried it.

I'm in Grand Junction CO. Colorado is high cost of living, Highlands Ranch area nice...Cherry Creek is hip... Near Lodo by the Coors Field. Google these areas: east colfax yuck...littleton is decent in areas as well as englewood...Denver tech area is kind of expensive. Morrison road is near the mountains and shoots through Denver. I-25 is a gut highway, c-470 is too but takes you towards Colorado Springs. 6th avenue is another main road.

I have vanilla hiney Greek yogurt with cottage cheese when band is tight.

Severe Pains In Neck After Stuck Episode!
Skyvic replied to Mama Mama's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Yes it happens. Usually between my angel wings ( between shoulder blades or upper right or left shoulder.) -
I felt groggy but nurses were there to talk to me and make sure I was ok, they check your vitals to maintain you. I felt sore and tummy incisions sore but I had steri strips so I couldn't see incisions. As I was wheeled to a room they kept oxygen on me because I was fairly low. They want that oxygen to go up before releasing you. I was allowed to drink warm water in sips and small souffle style cups of protein drink. I had to get up later and walk. You will have compression things on your legs to help prevent blood clots. You need to walk too. It wasn't a bad experience, I was just super tired. Went in at morning but didn't go hone til 10:00 at night.

I was hungry a lot and found myself wandering the kitchen but so important to stick to the rules...your fills will begin to make a difference.

What Are Some Of The Foods You Can No Longer Eat
Skyvic replied to lafaye999's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
You would think eggs would be easy but a fried egg sticks almost every time. I've tried poaching and that works except I'm paranoid about eggs so few and far between. -
What Are Some Of The Foods You Can No Longer Eat
Skyvic replied to lafaye999's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Shwans chicken is the only kind I can eat and with a marinade. Deli meat if I chew well goes down I just chop it like toddler food. I don't do so well on iceberg lettuce but spinach and spring mix work better. I can't do tomatoes unless it's skinned. No on cucumbers!!!! Nathan's skinless hot dog on if chopped like toddler food. -
I can nibble on the hard parts of Olive Garden bread stick ( like a mouse bite). I can eat pasta with Alfredo if it is really wet and baby bites. Bread is not my friend. I've had bruschetta on crustinni. Anything yeasty, doughy, pizza that is thick, or white bread or rice will give me a stuck episode...all of it bad for you and got me heavy in the first place. I can have a cornmeal pancake with syrup.

3-5 Foods You Can't Niw Live Without:
Skyvic replied to Bailey Jan's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Lentil soup with ham base powder, carrots, onion, thin potatoes, and very fine chopped celery....love this!!!!! Deviled ham with Hollywood mayonnaise ( I know fattening mayo) coffee and Hershey's caramel creamer Italian turkey ground up cooked and mixed with Pasta sauce and low cal Alfredo ( I call it Italian soup, but it's really noodle less spaghetti) -
I try to work around it, egg drop soup or a salad. After fills just softer healthier food. I pay special attention to chewing and small bites. That's been tough for me at times.

New To Myfitnesspal...looking For Friends
Skyvic replied to BeeBlueHeron's topic in Fitness & Exercise
Please add me Skyvic. It is always interesting to add foods to my diet that others are trying. -
I workout 8:30 at night and weekend early mornings so it doesn't affect so much. But I do use protein recovery shakes.

Joining the gym and actually going one year after I started my membership was the best thing I could have done. Don't anyone wait like I did...I could be weighing less if I had not waited. I live that I can change my workouts. I notice that I tend to lose more weight and tone muscles if I change it up. Some days it's more cardio and step...other days it might be arms and shoulders, or legs. Either way in hooked!!!!! Never thought I would say that. In training for a 5k now...CRAZY!!!!

Lost Total Of 45 Pounds!! You Go Girl!!
Skyvic replied to shrcumm's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Congrats keep up good work!!!! -
My loss was slower but time is flying. I can't believe how good my stomach looks. I've always heard that slower loss is more permanent. I was 268 and I'm down to 178 this morning. My goal is 154 for now. Wow 25 pounds to go I can't believe it and I still look in the mirror and see myself and a stranger who is thinner. I don't regret my band it is my life saver!

I just started drinking the GNC lean shakes check them out, meal replacement and so delicious. Having one for my breakfast today...curbs my hunger in morning big time, because I have a rough time eating in morning. Band loosens up closer to 11:30 am.

This weekend has been espy ally hard with three day weekend and the day off of work so it kind of throws the weekend structure!!!! Ok, so you binged a little on the wrong foods...I had a margarita ( skinny but still!) today might be the day you go for a nice long run/walk and get back on track or go for a hike with family. It seems that kicking in some fitness may jumpstart that urge to eat well again...it is for me but I'm also enjoying a few extras, like a bite of lavendar fudge from Palisade, CO. We are all human and you will get back on track...it's ok:) Good luck
