  1. Your welcome. I'm actually just finishing up my 2nd month of Bariatric weight management class and I have lost 17.5 lbs since May 3rd, so I am feeling really good about following the meal plan and lifestyle changes. The sleeve procedure is my first choice, but my doctor tends to prefer gastric bypass due to no long term research available yet for sleeve patients. I'm not worried about that (research), I'm going to press through the next 4 months of class and continue to prepare for surgery in November/December 2012. Wish me luck....no, pray for me.

  2. I had my first class for the 6 month weight management program yesterday. Have to get this out the way before surgery. I'm really excited about learning my food triggers and patterns in order to be successful after surgery. I'm still undecided on which procedure I will get. Pray for me.....

  3. Welcome! <img src='http://www.bariatricpal.com/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':D' />

I didn't ask a lot of questions on my first visit. It was more focused on my pre op testing. I told them which surgery I wanted' date=' we discussed my health history, I met with the nutritionist, scheduled my pre op testing and psych visit, etc. I was provided with a lot of information that was relevant to all WLS. I had a long list of questions at my final pre op appt. But I would ask some things about the surgeon's experience with the sleeve, what will the pre and/or post op diet look like, what will the hospital stay be like, surgeon's complication rates, how long will you need to be off work.

Please keep us posted on your journey. I'll save a spot for you on the loser's bench. <img src='http://www.bariatricpal.com/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=';)' />[/quote']

Great! I will keep you posted.

  4. Make a list of things you would like too know.

How long has the surgeon been doing these procedures.

what kind of diet do they require.

    Limitations?

What size Bouchee are they using? (guide to stapleline)

Do they glue' date=' staple, sew stomach shut?

These are some questions and maybe others have some suggestions also. Good luck and you will do fine! <img src='http://www.bariatricpal.com/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=';)' />[/quote']

Thanks, and great questions to ask.

  5. Welcome!!!!

There are a lot of great' date=' supportive folks on this forum. You can ask just about anything and for the most part get compassionate answers.

If there is something you are worrying about, that would be what to bring up to doc. Are you settled on the sleeve or is he talking about the Roux N Y as well? My doc tried to lean me toward the Roux N Y but I opted for the sleeve which he was good with.

    The only dumb question is the one you didn't ask. <img src='http://www.bariatricpal.com/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':)' /> [/quote']

Good info. Thanks. I want the sleeve and am not even considering any other options. I will let you guys know how it goes after my first visit.
