  1. Im going in on 5/29 for banded plication... Anyone else having surgery that day?
  2. Yay!! We can be buddies... My dr's office called yesterday with my approval, starting pre-op diet May 24, having surgery May 29! Please let me know your date when you get it! Congrats again... It's such a great feeling to finally get that approval.
  3. I really like premier chocolate... It's the only flavor my Sam's sells... $18.46 for 12
  4. I'm so sorry... It seems like insurance is out to get you sometimes, I know they have rules to follow but dang sometimes it feels like we are circus dogs jumping through every flaming hoop they throw up... I know it will be ok... Be patient! Praying for you!
  5. I have read on one of these boards about that but can't remember where. I would say go for it... I'm having banded plication on the 28th... Good luck!
  6. Yay!!! Just got the call from my surgeons office! So excited I could scream!! After 6 month supervised diet and several other things it took almost 9 months to submit everything... Less than 24 hours to approve it... Wooo Hooo! They are trying to get me in Monday 21 but it looks like Monday 28 will likely be my day... Memorial Day will now have 2 meanings for me!!!!!!
  7. This is awesome!! Thank you!
  8. I just got my pre-op diet.. 5 days of liquid diet includes 4-6 shakes per day, calorie free beverages as much as I want, 2 sugar free Popsicles per day, 1 cup of broth and up to 16oz caffeinated beverage... I thought that sounded tough... I don't know how I'd face 3 weeks, praying for ya! And my favorite shakes are premier from SAMs club... They are very good, I ordered unjury and really like them too... Good luck
  9. Thanks for the input... still not sure what I am going to do, on one hand it may be easier... kids (teens) will be eating out, no laundrey to worry about (I am a clean laundrey freak... gotta have it all done everyday), I will not be stressing over the house being clean, and will not have to worry about driving anywhere. We will stay at a resort type hotel so I will need to worry about my nourishment and not becoming dehydrated. It does seem that many feel much better after a week so I really need to figure out if I can get my needs met nutritionally... and not being able to go in the water will be a real bummer
  10. I am trying to "fit" my surgery in and wondering... Do you think I can undergo banded plication and be ok to ride 2 hours in a car to go to the beach for 4 nights with my family? It is almost impossible to schedule other times to go due to the kids training schedules for school sports... Any thoughts???
  11. To all the moms like me working hard to be healthier for their families! Enjoy your day! We have struggled and are giving our all to be better examples and to live healthier, happier normal weight lives! Now that a reason to celebrate!
  12. Quick question for those of you who have had surgery... how long was your hospital stay, if I am reading correctly some are outpatient?
  13. This must be common.. same thing happened to me! SO frustrating!!!
  14. I finished my 7th visit in March due to the fact I am not eligible for the sleeve (BMI<50) my office is resubmitted for the band. Got a call and I have to meet with a dietician for my insurance to be submitted... never mentioned this before (guess it's my fault for not reading the requirements) but went through the visits, increased exercise and was on Weight Watchers (documented the last 16 months). I am worried that I will be denied and have to start the 6 month supervised all over again to work with a dietician... what do you think... any tips! I am practically in tears! I am scheduled to meet with the dietician on Monday. Here's the medical policy wording: The patient must participate in and meet the criteria of a structured nutrition and exercise program. This includes dietitian/nutritionist consultation, low calorie diet, increased physical activity, behavioral modification, and/or pharmacologic therapy, documented in the medical record. This structured nutrition and exercise program must meet all of the following criteria: The nutrition and exercise program must be supervised and monitored by a physician working in cooperation with dieticians and/or nutritionists; and The nutrition and exercise program(s) must total 6 visits or more during a period of six consecutive months; and The nutritional and exercise program must occur within two years prior to the surgery; and The patient's participation in a structured nutrition and exercise program must be documented in the medical record by an attending physician who supervised the patient's progress. A physician's summary letter is not sufficient documentation. Documentation should include medical records of the physician's on-going assessments of the patient's progress throughout the course of the nutrition and exercise program. For patients who participate in a structured nutrition and exercise program, medical records documenting the patient's participation and progress must be available for review. Think I will have to start from the beginning???
  15. I started with sole to soul sisters several weeks ago... The key for me was that the pace was super slow in the beginning, the jog was about the same pace as a speed walk (I am pre-op). Katrina, my leader and a co-founder of the group (which is awesome and free! Anyone interested in starting a program can contact sole to soul on the website ) has tweeked the program to avaoid the huge jumos at weeks 4 and 5... she said over tha last few groups she noticed a huge decline in participation at certain "jumps" in the program. I will attach the link to the schedule we follow. She also advised in the first couple weeks NEVER to run back to back days and spread it out. Unfortunately I have been having foot problems... just go a cortizone injection yesterday and am hoping to get back in the next couple weeks. Also if you have a smart phone the app "Run Now" is great to time your intervals during your run. Good Luck!! You can do this!!! http://www.sole2soulsisters.com/training-schedule/
  16. That is awesome... 21 pounds in 15 days sounds like a successful couple weeks! Congrats!
  17. Wow!!! Thank you for sharing.. You are an inspiration. Congrats on your success and hard work, sounds like you are doing fabulous despite the tragic loss....
  18. That's great news... So happy for you. Now go home and take it easy for a few days!
  19. I am pre-op and so excited about my healthier future and right now I can't see it but am wondering did anyone suffer food withdrawl? I am a foodie... it was how I Celebrate, mourn, share.. it was never about nourishment until now.. I fell 100% about my decision, just trying to think of what happens after... If it happens, is it right away.. or are you so excited to make the change that you never look back?

  24. Thanks for doing this! I'm in the smae boat.. need more info... everything I 've researched sound super positive!
  25. I love all the great ideas! Thanks... I am planning on doing more exercise in the pool until I get some relief... Thankfully after all the warm weather the pool temp is in the mid 80's! I also am going to try stationary bike after that... Hopefully lose and naturally resolve these foot problems... My one best tip for plantar fac is to freeze used water bottles... It feels great to roll the bottle on my arch!
