  1. Oh my... So right there with you!! Started all liquid today, didn't have anything to follow until today. I have the worst headache ever. Just too Tylenol even had some caffeine (allowed 16 oz) I'm a little shaky and slightly grouchy. I know I won't cheat but man this is very hard, I am hoping that it gets easier. I keep drinking water, tried going for a walk but it's 90 and my head is killing me, reading was my next thought, again the headache so I'm watching some TV... I usually don't watch much so it feels nice to kick back and relax. Going for mani/pedi tomorrow.. Not sure what else to do.. We can do this! Just try and relax, sleep if you can.
  2. I am! Started today, 5 day liquids... Headed to the beach tomorrow, told my family that I will not go near breakfast buffet and they have to go eat with out me... But honestly I think it's a better idea than sitting home avoiding the kitchen. Any tips on how to get through these 5 days??? What are you going to do?
  3. I have Highmark BCBS. Took 2 hours for approval and from submitting to surgery is 2 weeks... But I started back in September with 6 month diet!!! Good luck!
  4. I think you will be fine.. unless you think your doc reads these boards... LOL!
  5. OK this is the low down... YES I did get that piece of cake but guess what... it wasn't that great, It did taste very good but IT IS ONLY FOOD!!! I think for years now my thoughts and cravings are more about my mind than my taste buds. Don't get me wrong it tasted good but not as good as my mind made it seem like it should be... I have given this extra dimension to food for years and have just realized it. I feel a little shell shocked still but let me say it again... ITS JUST FOOD!!! You know how you work so hard to plan the "perfect Christmas Morning?" Months and months of attending to every detail.. I make these gorgeous bows and make home made gift tags for each gift. I shop and shop and shop finding the a perfect gifts, I stress and spend and swear I will never do it again because every year they rip through the gifts with very little notice to the hours I have spent wrapping etc and inevitably we have a return pile for all those "perfect gifts" but you know why I do it... I do it because I am chasing the Norman Rockwell version of Christmas painted on a card, Not the real Christmas we celebrate, where our PJ's dont match, we have bed head and to be completly honest I will undoubtedly have smeared mascara on my face from being up so late making everything so perfect, that I fall asleep without even washing my face or brushing my teeth... Now the point is... (drum roll please)..... I have made every craving, every food fantasy into the erotic unatainable perfect "meal or snack or whatever" in my mind... it WILL NEVER be as good in my mouth as it is in my mind! Norman Rockwell doesn't live in CAKE!!! Can anyone else agree with me or have I truly gone off the proverbial deep end??
  6. That is what I'm doing... This feels so good!!!!! Thank you for encouraging me... I was on the fence, all the advice and pep talks is just what I needed to hear... Y'all are great!!!
  7. Well I am, for lack of a better term, nesting... I have cleaned everything top to bottom and stocked everything from my needs post surgery to extra dig food and easy micro stuff for the kiddos... I now have a HUGE urge to purge my closets... All the winter clothes I doubt I will wear next winter..jeans that I pray I will never wear again. The dresses and suits I rarely wear but keep in case of a funeral or other unexpected need... But things I doubt I will ever wear again... Should I? Would you???
  8. Congrats!!! Getting that approval is a great feeling! Keep us posted!
  9. Ask him if he does banded plication... He sutures the stomach to the size of the sleeve and puts the band in too... Reduces the risk of the band slipping, you lose in the beginning like a sleeve patient but have the band for long term maintenance and plateaus... Studies are showing the same weight loss with this procedure as with bypass... The best of both worlds!! Good luck!
  10. Thanks girls!!! Oh my... this is the strangest thing, I have obsessed for 8 months about this happening and its finally here.... I am so grateful for your kind words and advice!! Imma gonna need it!
  11. I am really not a nervous kind of gal... even when I was pregnant I never really felt nervous. Having said that I feel that my impending surgery has brought out my nerves. I have made my decision but I had a thought... well at least a partial thought today.... OMG!!!! I only have 3 days before my pre-op diet starts, 3 days to eat food... THREE. DAYS.. I wasn't having any cravings until this thought.. surviving on protein shakes for the next 2 weeks of my life.. and ..guess what.. I want cake, not just any cake decandent icing and ganache dripping chocolate cake with white filling, yes.. now as someone who is undergoing WLS in 1 week, is that r4eally what I should do? Do I give into the I want cake or fight it? Any thoughts? but I really want cake! I have few things I am really going to miss... I am an equal opportunity food lover and I do not discriminate, I love sweet and salty, carbs and protein... you name it and I promise I probably love it. I am trying to imagine what it would be like to not be hungry and have to make myself eat. You have no idea what a foreign concept that it to me... or perhaps you do. I'm sure this is a passing phase as I am really excited to start this journey... i deserve at least one freak out- right??
  12. I'm not too far from Mobile... Just across the bay. I having the band and plication done on 5/29 at South Alabama with Dr Richards. I start pre-op (liquid) diet on 5/24... How bout you?
  13. Thanks!! Going to make some, sounds great!
  14. You will need to check your medical policy requirements from your health insurance to get the specifics of what you will need. If you are self pay you will need to talk to your surgeon as to what he/she requires. I had to do a 6 month (7 visits ) of a supervised diet with my family dr with the supervision of a dietician. He also had to document my exercise program. I needed a psych clearance, dietician visit, all for my insurance to cover it. I started last fall.. In September but I originally was doing sleeve and then changed.. That added about 6 weeks to my total time. I'm having surgery on may 29... Good luck to you
  15. Old Navy is 90 day return policy too...
  16. I am having banded plication... I'm very excited about it. It seems that the folks on here that have had it are doing great... And it really doesn't seem their recovery is any longer... Plication is the only way I would do the band, due to slippage...
  17. My doc said he had done 2 weeks at some point in the past but finds he gets much better compliance with 5 days! You can do this KTan... I bought 2 new books today... I think that will keep me from thinking about . I also feel like I am so ready to do this that food is all of a sudden losing its control over me... Very strange but I haven't had any food cravings since I found out I was approved... That happen to any of you?
  18. Ok... You are officially my band buddy!!!! I may be grouchy for those 5 days though... Especially memorial day... Even though it's liquid, I doubt the protein shake comes in margarita flavor
  19. I start pre op on may 24... Surgery on 29... We can definatley do this ... KAH, when are you starting yours???
  20. Yay!!! Praying for you!
