  1. I feel like such a fool. I ate the week 3 foods for the first week and now there is a swelling below my right breast....perhaps I stretched the band or something. I go tomorrow for the first visit after the May 7th banding. I am going to get bitched at, no doubt. It is important to follow your doctor's orders week by week.

Just got back from my 1-week follow-up visit with the doctor. It was the PORT swelling below my right breast. I did not stretch anything! All is good. The only problems I am having is shortness of breath due to my smoking habit, which I intend to stop soon. I am so glad that I did not do anything wrong (except not skim the soups). WHEW. I am now on mushy foods with the size of the food to be compared to small curd cottage cheese. This I can do! Thanks everyone for listening and for your replies!

  2. I have a question about my incisions for those of you who have been banded... I have 5 (I thought there would be 4) and each one is a different size, one is about an inch long, the others a half inch or smaller, is that normal? I never thought I would have one that big?? I was told I wouldn't have any scaring but I'm pretty sure that big one will leave a scar... Just want to make sure I'm not the only one??

Hi! My 5 are similar to yours---no worries. I just came back from my 1-week visit with the doctor and he did not state anything was wrong with incision size.

  3. I would assume that when I ate the Soups I did not skim the mushrooms from the mushroom Soup or the broccolli or the potato from the potato soup, etc. Then I ate mashed potatoes (which is week 3). I am so mad at myself. I was low on cash and did not remember what I needed to buy so I ate what I had. I must keep in mind that my lapband journey began over 18 months ago where I got all of the instructions from the nutritionist. WHen I re-read the hospital release papers, I saw full liquids and knew I screwed up.

  5. Hello All! I finally got my lap band on this week on Monday, May 7th after fighting the insurance company for about 18 months. I had a two-week all Liquid Protein diet. Three 27 gram Protein Drinks per day, 11gram Protein Bars in between and any 0 calorie liquids. It was tough. I did not drink 3 shakes a day but I lost 14 pounds and shrunk my liver, which is what the doctor required!!!!! I had a hiatal hernia (which is seen in 75% of lap band cases) and my tummy is a little sore. The gas from the anesthesia is the worst thing from the entire surgery. My food for the rest of this week is all liquids for the purpose of stablizing the band. I go for my first follow up on Monday, May 14th where the food goes to mashed-potato sort of foods. I am glad that the surgery is over. Now I must do the work.

  6. I only told 2 people my mom and my husband and of course my lapband family :-). There is no need for anyone else to know afterall what could they really contribute to my success! They never contributed anything now- I'm very excited and can't wait till my new beginning - May 18.

I feel the same way about telling others! May 7th is my surgery date!
