Hi everyone, I'm from southern california- Los Angeles area

Hi! I got banded on 4/18/12 and have only had 2 fills so far, my first in June and second in July. As many of you know 2 fills isn't really anything, at least for me, I still had my normal appetite. I was scheduled to have my third in August; I was extremely busy at work and had to keep rescheduling. In the beginning of September I was fortunate to find out that I was hired at a new job, this resulted in me canceling my September fill appointment. Now my new company, I have heard really discourages taking any time off before your 90-day. So that means I can't schedule another fill appointment until sometime in December. Since my surgery day, I have lost 56lbs, I would say around 15-20lbs from the first 6weeks where my food intake was limited due to the different stages my doctor recommended. So this is where I feel I'm doing it on my own, without the actual help from the band, don't get me wrong I really believe I needed this surgery and it did jump start my weight loss and made me move forward with losing weight, I feel If I had more fills in, I would be down more pounds. I still struggle with my eating choices-have been using myfitnesspal to help, started doing a bootcamp type of class 4xs a week since July. So I'm wondering if I should get more fills come December? I have a friend who had the lapband and has 6-7 fills and says she can't eat a lot of foods like bread, rice basic carb foods. Do I want to do that? I like carbs (in moderation of course), should I just continue on doing what I have been doing? Or try for more fills? It's hard, anyone knows that losing weight is hard, it’s a struggle to make the right decisions each and every meal. So any input on people who have had the surgery and only have had a few fills and are still losing. Thank you for your time J

Hi Yannabee, My suggestion would be to switch up your exercise. Try something a little bit more intense? If you really like your 2 mile walk everyday try using the HITT method with it, or take some classes at your local gym-Zumba or a cardio class. I think if you add some of these ideas you will see some results on the scale J Good luck and congrats on your weight loss!! Can’t wait to be where you’re at on the scale.

I agree with a lot of the other posts, its your band, its your decision. You know what you did to lose the weight and that it wasn't the band alone, so that may be hard for people to understand that the band is a tool. I tend to tell people, but that's my choice and yours only to make.

Wow good job! But why haven't you had any fills yet?

Hello! I was also banded on 4/18/12 and have lost 38lbs , (congrats cbarreto on your 52lb loss). My scars are still noticeable but I think it’s partly because I just have that type of skin, the 4 smaller ones are less noticeable just dark in color and of course the port incision is longer. I go for my 3rd fill next week, so super excited to maybe hit the "green zone" latisadawn-- how much weight loss for you? How are your scars doing? Have you hit the green zone?

Thank you! Good job and keep up the good work, always loved the idea of being a "runner"

Hi, I'm interested. What is the name of the app? Is it on android?
-
Maybe try creating a new group? And so whoever wants to join can just go there and post each day

Hi Carolinagirl! Congrats on your 53lbs loss, that is awesome!!!! I have a question, what is lapband with implication? How is that different than just a lapband? Also if your seeking accountability, have you tried Myfitnesspal? You can log on and invite friends, track your meals and exercise.

I was also curious about this as well. Just started a boot camp and we do a lot of jumping, and i started to cough after and am a little worried.
-
Hi, I was just curious can you get "stuck" before your first fill? I'm 20 days post-op, wasn't filled during my surgery, so my band is liquid free.
-
Sure! I just have non-band friends on so it would be cool to add u! My email is csoto81@yahoo

Congrats Gale on your first fill!! I'm scheduled for mine next week and i'm a little nervous. But I hear you about being on liquids for 2 days and soft foods for a day, i thought we were done with those stages But I guess every time we get a fill it will be the same. But just think your one step closer to getting to that good restriction, best of luck to you.

Two Lovers, Trying To Meet, But Something Stands In The Way...

HI Sasha, Is the reason why you couldn't finish your eggs is because you just came of a liquid diet? And your stomach got "smaller" not because you got a fill right? I went to the follow up appointment yesterday and he approved me to go to mushie foods-he said anything that doesn't require a knife, i can eat. I thought my "normal" appetite would come back, but notice i get fuller faster, I had 1 cup of Soup and half a mashed sweet potato, and that filled me up even felt uncomfortable fullness, I don't have a fill yet, so its just my regular stomach. Don't know if that makes sense? -
Hi, I was wondering if anyone around days 5 and onward post-op, have experience stomach aches? It seems constant, but I notice it more after i eat. I do follow my doc's nutrition plan, so not eating anything I’m not supposed to be. Also has anyone been tracking how much calorie intake they have been getting? My menu usually consist of: BF-Protein Shake, Lunch-Cream soup, Dinner-Cream soup, 2 snacks- s.f jello and s.f popsicle - Is that fine? Not a lot of calories, so i'm wondering if that may be the reason for the belly aches? Any feedback appreciated. :-)

7 Day Post Op-Stomach Ache

Oh i'm sorry to hear about that "yucky" feeling, hope it gets better. Definately don't have that throw-up feeling, so going to wait it out until doctors visit. It is bearable, actually don't have the pain today, just hunger pains :-( -

Yes the pain is higher, but no tummy wind, lol. I did get that in the beginning days though. I really now believe its just my body reacting to what just happened a week ago, but luckily i have a doc appointment next tuesday. Thanks for your post. -
