  1. Oh my goodness Pastor O thank you for the offer, we are Christian people and my brother's wife works at a massive Baptist church in Nashville and has many people praying but if you would like to add him to your prayers that would be great as we've done the same in my church as well and I've got a prayer chain going on facebook so the power of prayer is going strong right now with our Faith in God. He has been in remission and God allowed that so we have faith in God's loving hands again but God has a plan that none of us can control. Thank you so much. Donna
  2. thanks everyone for the virtual hugs, all I could do yesterday was cry and then eat a little at a time, still in a state of shock. Missy thank you for putting things in to perspective for me, I can't let this take over and let this ruin all I've done. You're right I know this. Thank you all for the prayers and support. My brother and I are very close. Linda I will try and turn to my mom for comfort although I feel the need to be strong for her now.
  3. I have to have a colonoscopy next Friday and my lap band surgeon who is a gen. surgeon also is going to do it, anyway, I am so dreading it, not the procedure, the prep! He has me drinking 2 bottles of mag. citrate, yuck, I mean I gag on the stuff like that. I litterally have a hard time drinking stuff like that, even brushing my teeth gags me and sometimes I throw up doing that, my gag reflex is sensitive. Plus 4 tabs of Dulcolax. Can anyone suggest how to make the mag citrate go down any easier? Also what flavors does it come in, all I know is lemon and I can't have any red or grape. And I thought a 2 week pre op diet was bad, huh, this will suck. This will be my 3rd one.

    Dreading, any suggestions

thanks for all the suggestions they are all good. My surgeon does the mag citrate and dulcolax pills so that I don't have to do the big jugs of gatorade because the last time I did that I threw it all up. I will give the apple juice a try after each swallow and a straw indeed. Thank you all so very much. Donna

    Nothing fits

thanks for the compliment, it means so much. I was wondering if you did have any 3/4 length sleeve tee's or long sleeve tee's, nice ones, the one in my pic is a Kim Rogers from Belk and it has a v at the neck so it kind of dresses it up. I would pay you for them plus shipping.??? Also any 22 dark wash jeans petite? Thanks, Donna

    Nothing fits

I will hit Marshall's and TJ Maxx and Kohl's, thanks for the suggestions. I am going to the Smoky Mountians in Gatlinburg, TN in October and there is lots of shopping there, outlet malls and such so hoping to rack up there for fall and winter stuff. During my jourey this past year, of course I live with my 74 yr old mom, we share meals and of course cook differently now and she eats what I eat, which is healthy so she has lost about 40 lbs, didn't need to but she did. Luckily I got some of her cute jackets for church and about 4 tops that I had given her that were 2X that I had outgrown that are now loose on me. Today I wore an 18/20 top to church, boy did that feel good.
  7. A new friend on here and I met up locally and of course we hit it off, she's the best. It's great to have found someone to share this journey with along the way. Anyway she told me about a protein powder she uses and today I went to GNC and got me some and OMG I LOVE IT!!!!! I am plugging in my meals on MFP and only getting about 40 grms of protein and losing hair big time so I needed to up the protein. Tonight I fixed a shake and it was soooo good. It's GNC's brand Amplified Wheybolic Extreme 60 and I got the chocolate flavor powder. I used 1 scoop instead of the 3 scoops it called for because I was making 1 serving of 8 oz in my bullet and used light vanilla soy milk and half frozen banana, just let me tell you, it was delish, not gritty, smooth, creamy. I think I found my vice to getting extra protein. Thanks Anna, ur the best!
  8. when that happens to me I usually drink something hot to relax my band afterwards and take it easy on food choices for that day. It happens to the best of us.
  9. 70 lbs gone forever! Sorry for the mess in the background, we are packing to move and also my Dachshund got in the pic, lol. Had to cut all my hair off today, I had lost so much that my style didn't look like a style anymore so my stylist cut the sides off to a shorter version of it. Sporting my new doooo.
  10. I am interested in 1X and 2X 3/4 length and long sleeve shirts or tees, nice tees like from Coldwater Creek tees or Kim Rogers brand shirts. I also buy from Stein Mart and clothes fit me from there. I don't like anything blousy anymore, go figure, lol. If you have graduated to a smaller size yay for me, let me know. thx Donna
  11. Is it not bad enough that I'm losing hair like crazy but now I'm losing eye lashes as well. I've uped my protein, even added a protein shake to my diet, I take biotin, I'm just at a loss. 1 yr and 1 month post op.
  12. its usually with the Vitamins
  13. I take 5000 mcg of biotin and I have plenty of protein. My dr just shrugs it off too Joy. My PCP mentioned malnutrition but didn't go any further with it. I'm at the end of my rope is all I know. I'm sad.
  14. Is it risky to take liquid motrin or NSAIDS or will they still cause band errosion? Help I need to know cause I need need need some bad for pain instead of narcotic pain meds left over from gallbladder surgery 7 mos ago. I'm packing the house up for a move and my knee is giving me fits and also my back. I sure as heck don't know how in the world I walked around with 70lbs extra on me a yr ago, dang. Thanks Donna

    Is it risky

Well as most of you have stated NO NSAIDS for me either per dr's orders today over the phone. He did say this tho, if I absolutely had to take liquid Motrin for severe pain take it but please try to stay away from it. It's just I'm trying to pack up my mom's house, carrying heavy boxes in/out of the house to the garage, getting ready for yard sale and packing things to the garage for that and I'm am up on my bad knee constantly and in the midst of moving over these next 6 weeks I can foresee this getting worse with pain. I do have some Tramadol on hand but that doesn't really knock the pain out. Thanks everyone for giving me suggestions and advice. Donna
  16. I have church in the morning Anna but call me tomorrow if you need to talk.

    When will I learn?

This past week and half has been, how do it put politely, ok, hectic to extreme. We had a disaster at my mom's house where I live with her and fortunately a builder we knew has offered to buy my mom's house as is with the probs that have happened, disaster to say the least, and we are buying a new home from him that he is building which will be done in 2 months. So in the next 2 months I have to pack up an entire house and move again, did I mention I just did this a year ago when I moved in with her. Hopefully will drop some lbs in the process. Anyway, getting back to when will I learn. This morning the realtor and builder came by and were here during my breakfast time and then some and before I knew it it was past 11 and I was famished. The quick go to thing was a toasted bagel, well I must have taken a too big of bite because I GOT STUCK and I mean boy did I. It was ugly, no PB'ing, I'm talking puking and wretching, I know not good for the band. When will I learn, DONNA SMALL BITES!!! sheesh.

    When to go off medications?

do you want Granny to preach to you? Sorry can't chime in on this one as I know nothing about diabetes, wish I could help. All I can do is listen. We talked about this. Wish you had your PCP's support. I just changed dr's and love him. Awaiting my blood work results. Said it would take 7 to 10 days, ugh.

    Hair loss

I've had major hair loss but I just started tracking my protein and I'm not getting enough. Upping my protein now so hopefully this will help also take biotin but that just promotes hair growth like making it longer. But I and my stylist really see a major difference, it's so thin now, I hate it but its my fault for not getting my protein in.

    Protein bars

Does anyone know if you can buy Quest Protein bars by the single instead of a box at GNC or anywhere else and if so are they any good? I tend to lean towards a more fruity kind of bar like the apple pie or the mixed berry one is probably what I'd like instead of a chocolate one. I don't want a bar that is gritty tasting. Thx

    Protein bars

    @ GNC right or Walmart?
  23. I'm hoping she and I can get together this week, I'll have to see with my schedule, I've got a lot going on with my elderly mom. It's just nice to compare notes because we different dr's and of course I'm sure different rules but it's just nice to talk to someone that is going thru the same things you are, you know? I'm a little over 1 yr post op and I think she had her surgery in April but she had done great. My weight loss has gone slow due to lack of exercise, I have a bad knee, some days I can walk on the treadmill and some days it gives out and cause much pain. I'm kind of at a plateau now. Don't know what to do about that. I haven't lost any in 2 months.
