  1. My sugar dropped too and they told me to eat protein bars when I needed to eat or an egg so I did. I will admit to eating an Arby's salad and splitting it into 2 days worth with light dressing and my liver turned out fine, my surgery was June 13th. Good luck, it's hard but you gotta do it. Try to stay busy and away from the kitchen and temptations. You can do this!!!

    So Mad At Myself

I started out eating good yesterday morning: had about 4 oz of Protein shake for beakfast before church, lunch was at O'Charley's and I shared with my mom and had about 3 oz of grilled Tilapia, a couple of pcs of broccoli and two bites of baked potato and then after I went to Walmart it went downhill from there. I went thru the cakes/sweet stuff and bought a cake just so I could have a small sliver of it and ended up eating a piece the size of 2"x2" and sending the rest home with my mom, then I ate a handfull of popcorn, 3 pcs of white choc. candy that I had left over in the house. It was awful. It was like I was out of control. I saw my doctor today instead of Thurs and told him and he just smiled at me and said once I get a fill and feel full and more satisfied after a meal then hopefully I won't feel the urge to do this again because right now I can pretty much eat anything I want without getting stuck. I've been eating lots of fish, veggies and eating healthy thus far and doing good, he was proud of my weightloss since surgery. I just don't know what came over me yesterday. The devil! That's it the devil...

    Post Op Exercise

I'm 17 days post op and can barely bend over or lean over, still uncomfortable so I feel your pain. I did manage to walk 2 days this past week when the weather wasn't so hot but I had on flip flops. Can't get out and walk now as it's topping 107 degrees here in Kentucky. The exact spot where my port is is very tender and sore to touch, I hope this eases some with time.
  5. I'm 16 days post op and when I lay down mine sticks out or protrudes up and I'm wondering if it will always do this? I also can feel mine there like a hardness, I think I'm still swollen there. I'm anxious to ask my surgeon this next week when I go back for a post op visit. Standing up mine kind of sticks out too so I was wondering the same thing. Thanks for posting and asking and everyone responding.

    Yogurt Dessert

I will try your idea with the sf puddings, yummy. Thanks for the idea, it helps me get Protein in since the only thing I'm eating now just two weeks after surgery is fish and canned chicken, well 2 and half weeks. My doc sent me home with a diet of first 24 hrs all liquid then mushies till this past Wed then regular food. I sometimes do a Protein shake for Breakfast if I don't do an egg. I can't wait to try your ideas.

    Yogurt Dessert

Ok, some of you probably already have this but I'm fairly new but just tried this and it's yummy. 1 individual container of plain greek yogurt 2 1/2 Tbls Splenda 2 Tbls of sugar free carmel sauce Stir splenda in yogurt to make sweet and then top with sauce, tastes like pralines n cream ice cream...yummy
  8. I was banded June 13th and total with pre op diet and after surgery I'm down about 19 lbs. I did gain 1 lb from yesterday, had watermelon last night so maybe it was the sugar content in it I don't know. Congrats on ur loss!
  9. Today was day 13 for me and I was able to walk a little distance outside, got a little dizzy coming back to the house but made it back. I felt really good today. Still sore around the port area and one incision but other than that all is great. First 6 days were horrible and I was asking myself "why did I do this"? Today, I would do it all over again!!!
  10. I was sent home from surgery with the first 24 hrs all liquids then after that mushies till today and I was banded 2 weeks ago also. However today I went all out and ate a small salad, tonight I'm paying for it, thought I chewed well but I have a feeling of either gas or stuck, it hurts or achey feeling in the middle of my chest. Really feels like gas more than anything. I do not have any restricction in my band either. good luck tomorrow.
  11. I'm not sure what my pre-op shake is sweetened with but I love GNC's brand Lean Shake Swiss Choc. It was the only one I could tolerate and still drink it for Breakfast 12 days post op now. Good luck.

What To Do When Food Gets Stuck?

I'm newly banded so haven't gotten anything stuck yet as I'm still on mushies until later today but a fellow bander/friend of mine told me about pills at GNC I think they are called papya/mango pills and you take them when you get stuck. I am not sure what they do for you but she swears by them and I've heard other people swear by them also. Hope you feel better.
  14. Monday marks 12 days post op and I was wondering a few things from people. first off I have been to see my surgeon yet, I don't go till July 5th, will be my first visit. I'm still extremely sore where my port incision is, well tender I should say, when I twist, bend over or to touch, is this normal? Second, I have no energy, I'm weak. I got up this morning to go to church and it took all I had to muster up the energy to shower, dry my hair, fix it, put make up on and go but i did but I had to sit in between each thing I did. It was like my legs would almost give out on me. I have no strength. I wanted to be able to exercise but there is no way, I have no energy. Here is a list of my meals today: Protein shake this morning, about 3 oz of Tilapia (grilled) and a couple of bites of baked potatoe for lunch and dinner I had about 2 tablespoons of cottage cheese and for snack a greek yogurt that had 15 gms of protein that was fat free. My doc sent me home with a diet of 24 hr all liquids then after that mushy foods. Not sure of the caloric intake of all of this as lunch was out at O'Charley's and I ate off of my mom's plate. The cottage cheese was fat free. I just don't understand why I have no energy. Help, anyone! Thanks Donna
  15. yes I suppose I could step up on protein drinks but I considered them as a meal? I am only supposed to have 3 meals a day??? Vitamins, yes, I should be taking them, I have a luiquid Vitamin I know, I know, I should be taking it, will start tomorrow, I promise. Thanks for your suggestions and input. Yes you are right my/our bodies have to adjust and have been thru a lot I guess. Donna

    One Month Out

I'm on day 11 post op and I cannot begin to think of exercising. I am so sore where my port is and I cannot twist or bend over very well, is this normal? I have not been back to see my doc yet, don't go back till July 5th as he is on vacation. Also it takes all I have just to get ready to go somewhere, shower, hair, makeup, litterally, physically, I have to sit down in between things, I'm so tired and weak. It's like I can't get my strength back...???? Donna

    Constipation

not to get graphic but I was so compacted from surgery 10 days ago that on the 5th day of not going I did Miralax, warm prune juice, and then finally Magnesium Citrate and that moved me. I'm on day 10 post op and now I have complete diarrhea all of the time, can't keep that under control. Try the Mag Citrate it does work. Thats what the docs give for colonoscopies. Hope this helps.

    Day 3 Post Surgery

my post op diet which I'm still on, I'm on day 8 was the first 24 hours all liquids and then I was to move to mushies. My doc said when I felt the feeling of like I had to burp to stop eating that that was when my top portion of stomach was full. Hope this helps.
  19. yes I'm taking it easy, my mom is helping me a lot. She went to the grocery for me yesterday even though I wanted to go we both thought it would be too much on me. Thanks for letting me know of your experiences.
  20. First 6 days for HELL, excuse my language but it was, nausea, constipation, gas pains, soreness, etc. And finally I hit today and feel great! yay. I'm down 17 lbs total in three weeks, I'm excited about that. Thanks for all of you all who gave me suggestions for constipation and gas pains and nausea, it helped. Donna
  21. I was very compacted and constipated after surgery, actually hadn't gone in 5 days so I did Miralax and then drank a half bottle of Mag. Citrate and then stool softner and after all of that, my bowels moved and have been moving ever since. Guess it took all of that to get them started from surgery and pain meds. As far as gas I take gas x and still do. Hope this helps. good luck
  22. I'm asking for help here. I'm miserable. I was sent home with a 24 hr liquid diet then after that mushies. Have been tolerating mushies and protein shakes and water but I cannot shake nausea and the feeling of being full no matter whether I've eaten, drank, or not. The only time I feel my best is first thing in the morning when I wake. When I first drink something is when I start to feel full. At first, I'm sorry to be graphic here but I need to be, yesterday had marked a week since a BM so I had taken Miralax, drank a half of bottle of Magnesium Citrate and then finally a little relief but not much. The things I'm eating are like cream of wheat, oatmeal, yogurt, mashed potatoes, soup. I talked to my surgeons nurse this morning and she said maybe its because I haven't gone to the bathroom. I just can't seem to get my liquids in because I'm so full feeling. Help, anyone.
  23. I guess with all that I've had taken I now have had success, diarrhea but success. Hopefully my nausea will stay away today. Thanks again for all your suggestions.
  24. thank you so much for the compliment
  25. I know I thought the same thing about going to mushies so soon after reading on here about everyone. I think I will call the dr in the morning but I also think I will go back to Jello, puddings, Protein shakes etc. and see how that does. Also, thank you for the tip about the hot tea, his nurse did tell me to drink warm or hot prune juice which I forgot to mention that I have done two days in a row now but did not do the hot tea which she mentioned too. Thank you all so much for your input. hugs Donna
