  1. How long has it been since your surgery? I'm pre-op but I am curious about traveling for work after surgery. I know that I will struggle as you are describing. Also worried that traveling will be very tiring. I'm worried that I won't be able to concentrate and work when I get to my destination. Try to get your mind off food. Maybe read a book or play a game on your computer/phone. I know it's hard. Good luck!

  2. Hi Petra, I decided on the sleeve after the seminar too. I am waiting to be approved. I am below a Bmi of 40 and have high blood pressure. I got denied in July because I didn't have the 5 year history of the weight. I have only had the high blood pressure a couple years at most. When I got denied, they only said it was because I didn't have the weight history. The way that I'm reading your policy doesn't sound like you have to have the comorbidity for 5 years! Best of luck to both of us! :)

  3. MK, you sound like me..... Lack of patience! :). I got denied in July and was told to reapply in 2013 so I would have the 5 yr history documented. Well, today, I called and they are calling the insurance company by Friday to resubmit. I was told that it can take a few weeks for the insurance to review and approve/deny. It took about 9 days if I remember correctly for them to deny it in July. I'm used to being in control in my work so not having control over this to move it along quickly is very frustrating for me! I'm trying not to get stressed out this time! Best of luck to you! :)

  4. I found out today that I was denied by UHC! One of the requirements is to have 5 years of medical records showing your weight. I didn't have to go to the doctor in 2009. I had records from 2007 - 2012 but they wont accept the current year. So I got a copy of 2006. I didn't realize that my weight was that much lower that it caused my BMI to drop to 34.5. So now I have to wait until the calendar rolls over to 2013 to reapply. This way it will show from 2007 to 2012 and they will use 2012 since it won't be the current year! Ugh!! Disappointed! :(. But, I'll try again then! :)

So, it's now 2013 and after being denied in July, I am trying again! I talked to the insurance coordinator today. She said that she would call my insurance by Friday to resubmit and see what else needs to be done. Fingers crossed this time that things go smoothly and they approve! :)

  5. I am not sleeved yet so I can't offer any insight on what you are experiencing. Just some thoughts.... Have you done some type of exercise or movement that could have caused this. Not sure if you mean it's a soreness or sharp pains. If this has been going on for a little while, I would suggest contacting your doctor just to be safe. Hope you feel better!

  6. Thank you for posting this. I got denied in the summer due to not having 5 years of medical records. Skipped going to the doctor one year so reapplying after the 1st. As I ate my Christmas meal yesterday (which I absolutely loved) I wondered how next Christmas would be after surgery and not having the big meal! :)
