sleevers in Chicago southland
I know of Dr. Cahill through St. Margaret's Dyer. Many of my doctor's including my eye doctor are out of there. I went to Dr. Cahill a few years ago, but I lost my insurance after I enrolled with them. A few years later I decided to try again and was sent to Healthy4Life out of St. Mary's/Community Hospital. Best of luck to you!!!!

10 Days Til Surgery!
Your diet is exactly like mine. I started my preop diet on Monday. Day 6 I've had 3 protein shakes a day, some propel zero, and in 6 days I've treated myself to two sugar-free popsicles. Go me, go team! I feel a little stressed because I see how people advance so much quicker on their diets than we are going to be allowed to. Then I start reading this forum and I see how people try eating after 3 weeks and are in horrible pain, I see how people that advance too quickly don't lose as quickly or how people are upset that they can't eat like they used to at a month out. I see some people have complications that probably would not have been so bad if their diet after surgery went a little slower to give the belly time to heal. I think in the long run raindrop, the way our doctors are doing it is going to be better for us. I'm sure there are people that had no problems after the first week, but we chose our surgeons for a reason, and I think the way we are doing it is for the best. There is a list located in June 2012 sleevers called June Sleevers Compilation - Good Luck & Well Wishes and I added you to the June 5th list. That's a busy busy day Best of luck to you! Good luck to you. http://www.verticalsleevetalk.com/topic/39508-june-sleevers-compilation-good-luck-well-wishes/

About The First Few Days Of Recovery
How old are the children? Lifting any child can most definitely cause a leak. That's something I was told that a high percentages of leaks happen because you lifted something. I was told you shouldn't lift anything heavier than a gallon of milk. Take it from someone that had several stomach surgeries, lifting a gallon of milk is out at first. If you have a drain, that will need to be cleaned and you will have to have that taken out when the doctor advises it be done. There is no driving for a specific period of time as set forth by your doctor. Coughing, laughing, sneezing, throwing up is painful and if you can find someone anyone to be with you for a week it would be worth it. A leak can be really super painful and require another surgery, so lifting or carrying a child could be dangerous.

Answering The Protein Dilemma
Great information. I haven't been sleeved yet, and I have been drinking protein shakes for breakfast for 7 months now, but I really haven't thought about how hard it is going to be to drink an entire shake for breakfast afterwards. I think that's a wonderful idea. I may try using the pure protein frosty chocolate or vanilla and mixing it with my am decaff. When I went to decaff, I tried the sugar-free hazelnut and it's not too bad. Thank you for the heads up and congrats on your weight loss.

Any June Sleevers?
If anyone is using Dr. Garcia and used "Alighterme" which is a patient facilitator maybe someone could help out Anais02, who is having surgery on June 25th. The subject of her post is "New Here" and I don't know anything about Dr. Garcia or patient facilitators. Here's a link to her post. http://www.verticalsleevetalk.com/topic/39854-new-here/

Never Trust A Fart!
I had this happen to me Monday evening. I am on 3 shakes a day and as I was turning in bed, my stomach grumbled and luckily I had the covers off and I was on my stomach. I literally shot out of bed, ran to the restroom, and I had to take a quick shower and I was so upset I threw away my pj bottoms and then I slept with two towels underneath me. I was exhausted. I decided chocolate with Fiber for my evening shake is not a good thing and started having it for Breakfast. I was really embarrassed and the next day when I told my husband, who was oblivious (thank goodness) I said hey I guess night Sharts happen!

Day 5 Of 14 Of The All Liquid Diet....
Day 6 here, surgery June 4th. Truth is I'm sick of chocolate with Fiber from New Direction. I only have a few strawberry left. Luckily on Tuesday I can bring the variety pack and one of the Chocolate boxes (14) of them and turn them in for the strawberry. I'm going to beg my son to pick me up a Muscle Milk banana Creme for dinner tonight. My husband and son have been good, today they had sandwiches for lunch and hid it from me. But tonight the guys are having one of my favorites, grilled chicken and pineapple. My stomach is grumbling a little more today than it has but I don't have that woozy headache anymore. Downside: Three shakes a day - total calories 600, total Protein 80, total carbs 35 and about 1200 sodium and I haven't lost weight in two days. I spent 2 hours doing the gazelle yesterday and I walked 1-1/2 miles at a very very fast pace last evening before bed. I'm getting in all my Water. I imagine I will end up with a huge drop one of these days. I can't believe I'm still 233. I'm a little upset that I'm not having my normal Memorial Weekend BBQ with my family, and though my brothers have no clue what I am doing, except that I am having hernia surgery on the 4th, I'm a little upset. On the plus size, I went from a 4x and I bought 1x's from Woman Within and they fit and this is pre-surgery! Go me! Today we cleaned the house from the top to the bottom, cleaned out closets, etc. and I will find ways to keep myself busy, pulling wallpaper off the kitchen, and washing the walls in there. I am starting to go through all my clothes now and put piles of 4x & 3x's and decide which go to Good Will, which will go to my doctor's office or friends. Good luck Madison and we can get through this !!! I'm not dying over this, but it's not easy, and I think it makes it harder knowing that my doctor is so strict and I'll spend 2 weeks after surgery on Clear Liquids and another MGM, make sure you research flavors for shakes etc. 4-5 on liquids only.

I Am Having Major Pain
Did they remove your gallbladder during surgery? It sounds like gallbladder to me too. I had mine removed a few years ago and they sometimes take your gallbladder out during surgery if it's showing signs of issues, but issues do happen after the sleeve.

Once You Lose Your Butt Is It Gone Forever!?
Lunges, and doing tapes like buns of steel will build muscle in your booty and help you form a nice C. When I'm thin I'm flat as a pancake on top, but the more weight I lose and the more lunges, and squats I do the bigger my butt gets. Though my hips shrink and my butt shrinks in some ways, it lifts up and becomes a perfect little C. Check out home DVD's with Buns of Steel Tammy Lee Webb. The smaller I get the harder my butt gets and the more lift it gets so it actually starts looking bigger than when I'm really heavy. There are some people that don't have a butt, if you had a butt, you will get it back, just more toned, firmer and less flabby

Hahaha, I am still getting used to the terminology too, I was going to ask so I'm glad you did but now as I look at it - I'm thinking it has to do with Nice or New Sleeve Victory?

Should All Pre-Oppers Get A Sleep Study Done?
My cousin was about my age and she died died in her sleep, due to sleep apnea. She was looking into wls and couldn't commit and then decided to have her hip fixed instead. She should have had the wls surgery. I took my diagnosis of sleep apnea seriously, I had an one episode of central sleep apnea, but 400 episodes of obstructive in 4 hours. I have a brain tumor and it's located on my trigeminal nerve root entry, the pain caused by the trigeminal neuralgia makes it that I cannot tolerate the c-pap machine at all. The medication they use to treat the condition for trigeminal neuralgia causes memory loss and issues and actually can help contribute to the sleep apnea, so I am on oxygen at night when I sleep. I had to quit the Trileptal because it was causing me issues. he first doctor to recommend wls was the pulmonologist who did the sleep study. The second was the neurologist. Trigeminal neuralgia is a very painful condition where all the nerves in the face misfire and cause sharp, sometimes stabbing, sometimes lightening, sometimes severe pain. I tried for 6 months sleeping with the cpap and could not comply. Not because I didn't want to, it caused me pain and I couldn't sleep. Because of the neuralgia, and degenerative disk disease and disk issues throat surgery wasn't an option, so I sleep with oxygen. I am a stomach sleeper so needless to say I fuss and fight with cords all night and I wake up and I look like the joker with deep imprinted lines in my face every day and some days the imprints can last up to 9 hours on my face. This alone is a reason for me to lose weight. I really truly truly hate the cpap and I hate the oxygen. My husband said I haven't snored in quite a while, so I am assuming the weight loss is the reason. Hopefully some day I can get off the oxygen. Will have a sleep study probably in September or October. Good luck to you, and hopefully cpap will be an option for a short while.
