  1. Well I started tonight, thanks for letting me join in. Can't believe I'm saying this, but I really liked it. I could even DO it!!! I know, I know, it's early yet, but still I am pleased!! I feel great at the moment. Thanks again PS what's that thing you guys are talking about downloading (I'm download illiterate) Is it something I might like? Cindy

Hi Sheila, I have the 4 cm band, and have a total fill of 2 cc. I feel I have good restriction, that's what I don't understand. Perhaps my calories aren't high enough at the moment, and my body thinks it is in starvation? I think I'm going to have to fool myself and trick my body. Guess that means no more fooling around and get up and exercise again. I also have slacked in the drinking department (crystal light that is)!! Thanks for the response Cindy

I, too, am glad I found this thread. It is a great thing. God has definitely given us the choice to us this tool for our health. HE gave us all talents, and one of them was giving doctors the special knowledge to create the lap band. Cindy
  4. Can I start this anytime? It sounds like a challenge I'd like to try. Not very good (horrible) in fact at running. Used to do track in high school, but only sprinting, I never did learn to pace myself for distance. This sounds like a great way to start. Cindy

ok, a little sad here. Nope, not really, a LOT sad here. Can't seem to drop weight lately. I got a fill two weeks ago, and haven't lost a pound. ERRRRRGGGGGG. Just needed to let off some frustration. Thanks for listening. Cindy
  8. PS...Better than bouillion was my best friend that week. Haven't been able to touch the stuff since! Cindy
  9. Renewed Hope, yes I too had a liquid diet. Mine was only for 10 days, though. The first 3 days were the toughest for me. It finally passes, however. Good luck, it'll be great!! Cindy

Manatee and Ragdoll Wow to you both!! Neither one of you look the same. Isn't it amazing what 5 months can do? Nice that you both have pictures to compare. Keep up the great work, you look awesome!! Cindy
  13. Wintersunshine, By the way, sometimes this procedure is covered by insurance. Mine was. I have Harvard Pilgrim. I had to only pay $500 copay at the hospital. Good luck with your research. Cindy
  14. Wintersunshine, I am glad you got your questions answered. It is a big decision to make, and not to be made lightly. I'm sure you'll do what's best for you. Good luck and please post again to let us know where you're at!! Cindy

Sandra, I'm worried about you. How are you doing today? Any better getting anything down? Please do consider calling your doctor. You don't want to risk injuring yourself/your band. Let us know how your doing and good luck. Melissa, I am so sorry for your loss of your friend's daughter. Noone should have to go through that. You're right, though. If she was suffering that bad emotionally and for that long, she is in a better place. My sympathies to you and her family. Cindy
  16. Hi Diane, thank you SO much for answering all my questions (there were SEVERAL)!!. And No, I did not fall asleep!! You look so awesome, that now I am getting excited for the possibility that next year it may be in the cards for me. I AM going to start looking around and talking to people to see who is reputable around here for ps. I'll probably wait several more months, however, to make the initial appointment for a consult. Like you said, it hasn't been all that long and I need my head and body to be on the same page. My good friend is about 6 weeks ahead of me, and she is now in the process of researching ps as well. She spoke to our surgeon and got a name. It's a start. I want to be really really comfortable with the outcome and scar lines, etc. Your suture line looks PERFECT!! I wonder if I should travel to your surgeon. That might make for a very uncomfortable, long ride/flight home to MA. Thanks so much again for sharing Cindy
  17. Diane, you are looking awesome. I hope to someday be as brave as you! I'm still in the beginning stages, just banded in May, so I have a ways to go yet. Did you get to your goal first, or just close to it? and how did you decide when the best time to do it was (weight loss wise I mean). Did the ps tell you when a good time to have the surgery was weight wise? Maybe I'll start investigating for a good ps in MA now, so I'll be comfortable when I'm ready. How long did it take you from when you consulted with him, till the surgery date? Thanks, sorry for all the questions Cindy

Hi Metal Absolutely. I have gotten really comfortable, especially with smaller size clothes fitting me. I was before trying to drink at least 64 ounces/day. Just realized today that for at least the past week, I was only consciously drinking 16 ounces. And the exercise. Are you kidding me? Not so much. Time for me to really get back in business! Two weeks ago just got another fill. Up to 2 cm in a 4 cc band. Restriction seems great, really taking my time eating for a change. Think I'm finally getting the hang of it. I did call my doctor though. About a 1 1/2 weeks after my fill I started to have more restriction. Like my morning protein shake I really had to take my time and sip. Usually I could just normally drink it. I also was getting heartburn/or acid reflux at night that I could feel a slight burn. I asked my surgeon if I should get some of my last fill out. I don't want to do any damage. He suggested zantac or prilosec to see if that helps. What a difference. That was what was making me so tight in the morning. This morning, I could drink my protein shake normally. We're going to keep an eye on things and see how it goes. Wish me luck!! I'd like to keep this fill if possible, but also want what's best. Sorry so long winded. See what a glass of wine can do?!! Cindy
  19. Wintersunshine, The lap band isn't a "magic cure". We still have to work at it. It is a tool that helps us get to our goal. Exercise is key, and something that I'm really trying to work on more consistently. That and drinking lots of Water. Some people like to follow weight watchers and with the band's restriction, helps them to stay on track. You will find what works best for you. Good luck in your journey. Cindy

Good luck to all those newly banded. It is so worth it, I love my band! Margie, I know it's hard, but the time will truly fly by. The liquid diet isn't so fun, but the payoff makes it worthwhile. The 31st will be here before you know it. I'm keeping my fingers crossed about the insurance coming through right on time for you. Anyone going to Dr. Glasgow's support meeting next Tuesday night? Cindy
  21. Diane Good luck tomorrow. I'm so excited for you. Write when you feel up to it. Cindy

Ginger, Definitely call your doctor. You should be able to keep more than that down during a day. You need to have your nutrition. You don't want to jeoparize your health and risk losing your band as well. Good luck to you and keep us posted. Cindy

Mini, I like that, Mamu, I'll have to remember that. I'm scottish, my great grandmother came over from Scotland, but we called her Grammy Shep, and her daughter (my grandmother), we called grammy. Although like you mentioned, I don't want to be compared to a whale (shamu)!! Too funny Cindy
