  1. Hi Janette, I am doing it right now, not fun! Today is day 3 and I am hungry. A good broth I found is Better than Bouillion. I agree, it is not very filling. I am glad to see that someone else had to do the 10 day liquid fast. Thought I was the only one not having so much fun with it. I'm told it gets easier as the days go on though, perhaps my body will adjust. My friend went through this about a month ago (with my same surgeon), and she said by the end of about Day 3, things weren't so bad. Well, by now you are already banded, and hopefully doing great. Cindy

I've never been diagnosed as such, and don't usually have a "problem" except when I have a good amount of dairy. I have ff cream in my coffee every morning, and usually a ff pudding or yogurt after lunch with not effects. Perhaps it is just the amount that is intolerable? Should I bother getting tested, or just deal? I don't know, but I guess if I can usually control my limits, or maybe try lactaid it would be fine.

This question is for anyone doing the liquid diet. Sorry it is gross, but what can I say? Has anyone experienced diarreah from the pre op diet? It does make sense, as it is all liquids. I am on Day 3, and had several run ins (no pun intended), last night. Perhaps it is the dairy (ff yogurt, and 2 atkins shakes)? I have reacted to dairy before, but it would usually be if I had ice cream (which I don't usually have). I just hope it's normal, and not something to worry about. I'll be calling the nutritionist shortly to see what she has to say about it. This cranky business is wearing thin, hope it evens out. It's just HUNGER!! Guess I'll go make some more broth. PS...the low fat, low sodium broth was, let's just say don't bother, but the "Better Than Bouillion" is really quite tasty. Thanks for listening Cindy

"bras without hardwire", did you ever have an underwire poke you in the chin? I was at a friend's house with several friends there and while sitting around talking (after several glasses of wine) something was poking me in the chin. It came right up the neckline of my shirt! We all got a great laugh out of that one. Thank goodness it didn't happen at work or in a restaurant, or just walking down the street!

OMG that is so funny. How true about the booths! I love booths but I always worry that it will be a tight squeeze, or I'll have to ask to move elsewhere. I just love this list!

Laura, Thanks for the encouragement. I wish I could have walnuts to crunch on. Can't have anything crunchy. Just clear broth, sugarfree jello, sugarfree popsicles or fudgicles, Crystal light, Up to 3 yogurts a day, (or cottage cheese, or skim milk). And that's about it. It will pass. Did I mention how good broth is right now? Never thought I'd say that!! Can't say I've been to the bathroom quite so much as recently. That's surely a good sign. Well, off to get some broth for lunch.

Good luck tomorrow May 2nd bandsters.:gluck: I'll be thinking of you all day, wishing you the best. Make sure you get back to us when you're feeling up to it! Today is Day 2 of my 10 day liquid diet. I must admit, I am a little cranky. Trying to be extra nice at work because I know how on edge I am. I'm hungry and just want to chew something. Nope, not this one. Being good and taking it one minute at a time. Anyone else on the liquid diet at the moment?

    16. So I won't have to wear a full-length trench coat to the beach (exaggeration, but you get what I mean) 17. So when I want to walk at lunch with the girls, I can keep up with them and not feel self-conscsious because I'm breathing heavier than they are.

Well guys, I start my 10 day liquid diet tomorrow. I guess this is really happening! It's been a hectic week. Dad just had quadruple bypass surgery on Tuesday. He actually went home yesterday, and is doing great! Now I guess it's time to concentrate on the diet this week and surgery for lapband the following! Yipee!! Cindy

Wenjea, I had two sleep tests because the first test came back that I had moderate sleep apnea, but they never tried a mask on me, so I had to return for a second study to use the mask. It's funny that you mention this today, as the man from the cpap company just met me at work during my lunch to deliver a cpap machine to me! It doesn't seem all that bad. I am able to use a newer one that seems very quiet, and instead of a full, or partial mask, is just a nasal canula type thing. Not as bulky. He showed me how to work it, and it seems very easy. Well, we'll see how the sleeping goes. Everyone says it does wonders. I'll keep you posted! Thanks for asking.

Fluffy, I am so so very sorry to hear about your delay. That is just so frustrating. All this red tape for something that is so very beneficial to us. Although 1 to 2 weeks feels like forever, perhaps it will just fly by. I'll keep my fingers crossed for you. Cindy

Olivia3031 You asked about the preop visit. I just had mine today, and it took about an hour. I pre-registered for surgery, filled in a medical history (any surgeries, diabetes, the usual). Then they gave me an EKG. The last thing was that I met with a PA to talk about the anesthesia and to see if I had any questions.

CONGRATULATIONs Buscove, Ginger, and Nurse Laureli!!! It is so nice to see everyone getting their dates and being so supportive of each other, I agree that it is like a high school click! You can do this LauraP. You have such a great, positive outlook. The liquid diet is the part I'm most nervous of and look at you. You keep picking yourself up and moving on. Great attitude! Keep it up, 5/02 is just around the corner.

Wenjea, It's just me and DH at home. He'll have to do that for himself while I'm coping with the liquid stuff. He's been supportive, so I'm sure he won't mind. My two girls are in college, so no worries there. They are also supportive (and yes, I did debate if and when to tell them). But I told them and they are awesome. EXCITEMENT IS IN THE AIR!!!

(but it will def be worth it!!). 16 days till bandland!!. Oh, and thanks, I thought the sparkly signature was cool. I saw someone elses and wanted one too! It took me a while to figure it out, but finally, success.

Hi there Everyone sounds like they are so excited, myself included!! I went shopping tonight for new comfortable pajamas and comfy sweatpants to wear post surgery. I went with a friend who just joined "lapband" 3/27. She has been an enormous source of info for me, as well as everyone here. Got the liquid tylenol, unjury protein (plain, chocolate, vanilla, and chicken flavor). I tried the chocolate and chicken, I'm sure the shakes will grow on me, eventually. Got plenty of crystal light on the go to add to bottles of water, chicken broth, sugar free puddings, sugar free jellos. Think things are falling into place. Sorry to ramble, but I'm getting really excited! The liquid diet starts in 8 days!!
  24. Krystal, Thanks for sharing your inspiring journey with us all. You have truly motivated me to get my rear in gear. I will be banded in exactly 16 days (yes, you betcha I'm counting)!!, and I wanted to start in right a way with my journey. I have now started back at the gym at my work. I try to do the elipticle 3 nights a week after work for 30 minutes. On Tuesdays and Wednesdays I take dance classes with a friend for two hours each night. It's only been a week (the gym part), but I really do think I have more energy. In 6 days I have to start the liquid diet for 10 days, but for now, I'm just trying to eat healthy (and less portion). Keep up the great work, I am so proud of you!!
