Being banded Nov.25th
GingerRenayd2 replied to lefthander_1975's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
WELCOME I love my band it is the best choice I've ever made! -
Yes you had stitches inside. I'd call the doctor to have an Xray or something to make sure your port is just not floating free inside you! Would be hell come fill time. FYI- Great on the weight loss..30 pounds WOW!
-
I know what you all mean.. It is just great! I had some birthday cake last night and 1 bite was it.. It was to sweet! The old me would have ate the whole cake and made another..lol
-
That is so true in the mornings. I need at least 8oz before I eat or it feels stuck. My doctor is still saying NO but I won't tell if you won't tell on me:cool:
-
5 days banded.. well kiss bread, steak and coke good bye.. Some people can eat it after a year out, some never- while others could eat or drink it today. At 5 days I was staring to get hungry. Every doctor is different not sure if you have to do 1 or 2 weeks on liquid? I was told 2 week, I made it 10 days. I was just to hungry..I had tomato soup but just a half cup. I'm sure by next thursday you could have mash potatoes, gravy, greenbeens, bake beans and maybe a bite of turkey.. Just chew everything really good. Oh and a piece of pumpkin pie without the crust:D You will see that a teaspoon of each will be it.. You just want to make sure you give body time to heal. Don't rush in with a bunch of food. I started at 14 days trying more mushed type foods. The only thing that felt stuck was eggs? I get my first fill Tuesday-Oh that's tommorow! So I'm not sure what I'll be eatting next Thursday? Right now I'm eatting more but still get full fast. HAPPY THANKSGIVING!
-
Okay My doctor and Dietitian have been real sticky about what to and not to eat. I'm on real foods stage now but no Red meat, bread, rice, pasta or coke for 1 year plus! I go Tuesday for my first fill and I'll meet with my dietitian after. OkAY question-- What is the rule on eatting salad? Tommorow is my daughters 10th birthday and for dinner she want to go to Olive Garden. I just love the salad there! Do you think I can or should eat it? What about the soups there? Any suggestions PLEASE!! THANKS:cool:
-
I guess I'm lost.. You and I were banded same day and I read everything about the first few weeks that you wrote I was feeling too! Have you not had a fill at all? I go Tuesday for my first. I'm pretty nervous:cry about it! You sound to be doing good in you weight loss so far? Let me know!

A kind of embarrassing question for the women...

Cool That was the site I was talking about!! Not all doctors stand in between your legs so you might want to ask if you really want to know!!! -

I wish I could rememer the website that showed the surgery and your arms are spread and so are your legs. I guess the doctor have a better view or angle from in between your legs.. I did not want to know where he stood so I never asked. I got my band. I'm fine thats all I wanted to know..LOL I guess you should or could ask by calling the doctors office or when you go for the blood work ask then. -

The reason for the no underwear is that in case they need a second or third line the vain in that area is the best. I also was a little freaked.. I have IBS so I went to the restroom and washed down there I was that freaked out.. I'm sure you will not be the first person on your period to have surgery.. You will be fine! I guess I will tell you that most tables spread out so the doctor can stand in between your leg to do the surgery.. I found this out after the fact!! My husbands joke was well if you end up prego in a few months we know who to blame..LOL If you really are stressing over it talk to them before hand if you have 3 weeks they can give you some med to make you start now. GOOD LUCK! -
Sue's whiny post about overprotective doctors.

Wow talk about a mouth full. It is funny to me how some people only had to go 1 week where I was told 2 weeks on total liquid. I made it 9 day. I was starving for something real in my belly! It was not like I ran out for a steak but it is crazy! I only had to do one day before surgery diet. So I guess I was lucky.. I go next tuesday for my fill so I'll let you know about that one..LOL Oh and the bread.Sweet bread..AHHHHH! The things I miss at 5week banded: 1. Steak 2. Yeast Rolls 3. Arbys Roast Beef 4. A hamburger-with the works 5. Corndogs 6. pizza 7. chips and salsa 8. Burrito's 9. Pasta 10. Diet 7up I guess that will due for now. Anyone else Hungry Now? I wonder if I'll ever have any of those foods again? Man- I really sound like a fat person now! LOL -
Hello Everyone~ I'm just so damn excited! Before my surgery I sat down and made a list of goal. Well, Tonight I met my first GOAL!! 3 years ago I bought a pair of leather pants. I know how 1980's but hey... I could not even get them 4inches to being closed. Tonight I saw them hanging there and THEY FIT.. I buttoned them without even having to lay on a bed. THIS BAND IS AWESOME! It will be 5 weeks tommorow.. I have been feeling down because I've not lost any more weight. I guess I've lost inches.. YES!!

Yes there is a site from a girl named Monicas. She got real sick and had to have her band taken out. She did okay for awhile but gained back I think I read over 50 pounds and I spoke with her in July and she was rebanded. I'm not taking any chances. I'm not eatting nothing not cooked..Well you know what I mean Fish that is! Had anyone had pasta or rice? My doctor said no red meat or bread for 1 year. I'd love a big juicy Hamburger-I'd even skip the bun..LOL Good Luck

Question- I was banded 10-8-03 and I'm doing great! Losing weight eating lots of different foods. Before I was banded I was a type 2 diabetic for just over 1 year and took pills to control my blood sugar. 10mg glucotrol and 500 mg of gluopauge Every since surgery I have NOT taken any of my pills and have been okay. Well, at least I think I've been okay. I have not been testing everyday but maybe every 3rd day. My blood has been 140- 150 or 160. Under 200. Last night after I ate some cot cheese and applesauce I got a head ache and I had 8oz of ice tea and it went away. Then again today I had not had Breakfast yet and my head started hurting so I tested my blood and it was 153 I ate and felt better.. Did anyone have to go back on there meds? Did anyone stay on there meds? Just need some insite on what to do here. I'm affraid that if I lower my sugar by pills I'll be to low since I'm not eatting as much these days? and then be a shaking mess. Any suggestions? I hate to call my family doctor about this since he was so pissed I was having the surgery in the first place. THANKS!!!

Girls~ Trust me I know what you are saying. You read all these bad storys and even might run into a website by a law office for people that have had bad bands. It is crazy! But then you find a site like this one and you sit and read.. And read.. And read.. So many of your questions are on this site and if you have one you can't find ask. There is no dumb question. I was banded on 10-8-03. I had my good days and bad days after surgery but you know what?? I have lost 19 pounds and I just got started. I am so glad I got my band. I feel great !! You found a home now on this website. Just relax and enjoy the holidays and get ready for a new start on life. What a great way for you to start 2004!

WOW! You look so young.. And the pictures of you are great! I love to see pictures of people with the lapband it really gives you an idea that they really do work. And since I've seen your messages on here your a real person, not some someone pushing surgery. If that makes any sense?? YOU KEEP UP THE GREAT WORK! I'M SO PROUD OF YOU:D -
I'm so glad to see you on here! Good luck and keep me posted!

Hello- Some people need oxygen after surgery. NOT ME! Which surprised me my levels were at 98%. You might just don't freak! I stayed in the recovery room for 1 hour then up to my room on the 2nd floor. Even those bumps did not hurt being roled down the hall. Pain level at 0 to 1. 4 hours after surgery I was up walking the halls. Pain getting up out of bed a 2. I took a dose of pain meds. The best advise I was given was to walk as soon as you can. TRUST ME I think it really helped. Don't over do it but just go slow. Oh another think I was freaked about. I knew I had to pee but nothing would come out. It took 4 trips to the bathroom before I finally went. The Doc and nurse said it was normal. The next day the drive home the pain was a 3 to 4 because we live in the country and the roads are crap! Day 4 I had shoulder pain from gas trapped but as far as my surgery goes if felt like I had done 100 sit ups.. Just sore not pain.. I went shopping on day 5. It was okay but I got real tired after walking Sam's club store. I stayed in the car for the next store-which almost gave my husband a heart attack..HA HA! Don't worry by week 2, I was back spending money at the mall! You can do it! Just remember everyone has good and bad days at the start. You just have to keep in mind why you had this surgery and how great you will look by next summer:} Oh FYI- The liquid meds they give you in the hospital I only took a 1/2 of dose. It was green and was not to bad. I also got a script to take the same at home. Still I took 1 not the 2 Teaspoons. I got little cups with lids(I bought at sams club) and pre measured them out so in 4 hours if I woke up in pain They were right next to me.

RUN DON'T WALK!! GREAT FOR YOU!! I am so happy with my band and I'm sure you will be too. Keep us all posted on your surgery date..

Thanks everyone. Well, for now I'm going to stay off the meds and watch my blood very close. In 2 weeks I go back to the doctors and if it stays under 150 to normal than I'll stay off. Otherwise I'll start a low dose of Gluoctrol. I just had my A1C test 2 months ago and mine is always under 5.. I'm just going to watch myself. I also got a cold and I think the jump in # were my body telling me YOUR GETTING SICK! I saw my Lap Doc today and I'm going for my first fill next week. I'm a little freaked since I watched Leo's but I'm pretty sure I'm ready for a fill. According to the Doc scales I'm down 18 pounds. My home 22 pounds so anyways it just feels good to be losing weight. Thanks so much everyone and if anyone else has anything to add PLEASE DO! I love all the advise I can get!

Hello~ Well I was banded in October and I'm looking for stuff that is easy to eat.. Well, I remembered a Chicken salad.. 4- Chicken breast-cooked and shred FINE celery grapes walnuts 1oz= 5grams protein 1 can crush pineapple All ran in the food grinder to chop up really small. 1/2 cup to 1 cup miracle whip 3/4 of a container of cool whip. Your family can eat on bread or crackers.. It is just good by itself! Hope you enjoy!

I had shoulder pain bad after surgery for about 10 days. It waa just trapped air that would not move. My friend that was banded same week had back pain. We both took Advil 200 mg or liquid. It helped a bunch! Try heat and warm/hot showers. If that does not help Call your doctor! You might be sleeping wrong too? Hope you feel better!
-
Okay this might be stupid but I was banded on 10-8 and now today my naval is hurting and when I swipe it with a Qtip there is blood or mucus? What is that? I did have a Band-Aid over my navel? Should I be in a panic? or is this normal HELP!!:cry
-
I'm doing better. I go on Wes. to see my doctor for my 4 week check up. The pain is gone:D I've just been taking it slow so my body can heal.. Thanks for caring!!

I have taken Advil and had no problems. Believe it or not this was the first month in over a year that I did not have cramp.YEAH! But for pain my doctor told me to take advil. 200 or 400mg. They also make a liquid vit that run around $21.00 a bottle. I like the GNC kids vit they have 100% of everything. I guess it is just a matter of taste.
