Sal58 got a reaction from 2muchfun in Surgery Tomorrow-Terrifed, Nervous....
I felt the same way right up to the time I was on the table. Then for the first two weeks I started to doubt if I made the right decision...here I am 2 months post op and I feel this has been the best decision I have made. It is an adjustment. You have to re-think food and think about your eating triggers. Actually taking time to eat and listen to your body telling you that you are satisfied and not full is a huge learning curve. All the while worrying about getting in enough calories. I have found I don't worry about getting in enough....I concentrate on how my tummy feels and if I have head hunger or tummy hunger. For me the most important thing for the first few weeks was making sure I stayed well hydrated. I didn't feel like eating anyway till about week 4. I can't emphasize chew chew chew and then chew some more before swallowing...then wait in between bites and really listen to your body. Eating out was also a struggle at first since you will eat differently than others. I am to the point of not caring and just taking my time, eat slowly and enjoy each mouthful...and bring home leftovers. Keep posting on the forum as to how you are doing and if you have any concerns. Also make sure you have good communication with your doctor and staff. There are no stupid questions. Take care and I wish you much success.

Sal58 got a reaction from Carolinacrumb in Banded 4/16 And Gained A Few Back
Thank you, thank you, thank you for posting this. I was so upset yesterday when I weighed myself....gain 2 pounds over night on 800 cal? I was devastated. I will try and up my intake a little but finding it hard still to eat more than a few spoons. Everything else is going well, walking 45 min a day now everything is healing great. I will not weight myself but once a week so I dont get so upset. The things that went through my mind. Thanks again for saying something.

Sal58 got a reaction from IL_MissKitty in Week 1 Post Op.
Wow, week one is now done. In this week I feel as if I have climbed a mountain. I have gone from excitement to fear, fear to banding, banding to my new way of life. In one week I have managed to go from walking a few steps to walking now up to one mile (today). This first mile kicked my butt, but I did it. Tummy doesn't hurt at all, just tugs a bit but gas is fighting its way out of my shoulders and escaping quite easily from every other exit. I still have no appetite even though food smells good, the thought of eating it just isn't there yet. I am struggling to get in my Soup and shakes, one because I am not hungry and two, when I do try and sip them it is just uncomfortable. It seems to take me forever to get down 4 tsps of liquid. Water doesn't seem to be such an issue but I find myself trying to chew that as well. Bring on week 2……my goal for this week is to continue to obey the rules and do my mile walk in a little less time. Also I have lost 10 pounds. How is everyone else doing?

Congrats mih! I am on day 6 post op and must say things are looking really well. I am slowly getting back into the housewife routine. I think your Mom was right because it was day 3 that it hit me...LOL! No regrets on this end and like you, excited about the journey. Take care and I look forward to hearing about your healing and your success.
