I have to go off lisinopril 10 days before my surgery. It is not a good drug to be on during surgery. They can put you on a different BP med for that time period but my PCP says to just go off of it and we will reevaluate after surgery.

We took a class and this was a big part of it. We have to make apts. with our primary doctor(s) and get everything liquid, crushable or gelcap that can be punctured and squirted out. No pills at all for two weeks.

Hopefor-I am May 23. Yes, two week prepping diet and then some. I have to lose 20-25 lbs. before he will cut. No exceptions. I seem to have a very strict surgeon. He has been doing weight loss surgery since 2000 and he has never had one death and only had one leak in 2006. He is strict for a reason. In the class on Thursday they showed pictures of fatty livers. They had one that was so big it broke the instrument that holds it back during the procedure.

I weigh in tomorrow after 1 full week of the pre-op. Let's hope I am as lose to 20lbs lost as possible.

12 days til surgery and my main support system is pretty much gone. I'll have to figure out how to do this on my own' date=' but like so much of the many other obstacles I've overcome, I will get through it. I always do. I'm heartbroken, scared & disappointed.[/quote']Did something just happen? I'm sorry. Your new life begins in 13 days and I hope happiness finds you there!

I found out in my class yesterday that we have to do a bowel prep before surgery. I am totally fine with this because I like the idea of my insides being squeaky clean before they go in. . Anyway, I teach childbirth from 6:30 to 8:30 the night before and I really don't want to find a sub. Two of the four teachers have recently resigned and that would mean my boss would have to do it. She works 8-5 all day and then teaches a couple of nights as it is and I hate to ask her with all of her people having just quit. Anyway, my instructions say I have to do the bowel prep at 5pm. That seems so early. when I had a colonoscopy I had to do it later in the evening. Do you think I could cheat ahead and do it at like 7:30. I can cram the other classes and have us leave an hour early. I can even chug the stuff when I get a mile within our house.

I had sort of put myself on the pre-op before I had to and told myself that as long as I stayed under 1300 calls MAX I could cheat. So I had a subway turkey one day, a small cheeseburger another but I recorded it all on MFP. Even the light mayo and mustard on the sub. I lost a good deal that way. Then I let myself splurge for the weekend (and paid for it with 4 pounds gain!) and am now on pre-op again. For real. No cheat. About 850 cals a day goal now.

What does the milk pre op diet consist of?

Had my pre-op class from noon to 5:30pm yesterday, went to 30 minutes of the bariatric support group in the same building and then worked a 12 hour shift. All of that on 870 calories yesterday and so far only 300 today. I also had a slower shift then normal so I walked twice for 15 minutes. I am doing a high energy Water aerobics class today and aqua zumba tomorrow. We are going to applebees for dinner tonight and I will get one of the under 550 meals and even then only eat part. I was told my surgeon is not kidding around about the pre-op weight loss. If he says lose 20 and you lose 19 he cancels your surgery. So I have to get in gear. He told me 20 and while my ticker says I lost 15 that is from my highest in February. From when I met with him I have only lost probably 8. Getting very very nervous. I cannot have gone through all of this and not get the surgery. I weigh in on Monday for a check in and then again the following Monday. I think that is the day that I absolutely have to have lost the 20 by.

I had my class yesterday too. So much information. It was fantastic. If I was only 99.9% sure I was making the right choice in surgery, hospital and doctor now I am 105% sure!

I told close family and a few friends. In the end I wish I told fewer people. I just feel like everybody is waiting and watching every pound and for me it's a slow process. I don't need the extra pressure.
This is definitely a fear of mine!

Huntsvill hospital in alabama. You?

Do you know how long you will be in the hospital. Mine is one night.

I had to count backwards from 100 by 7. A nurse who works in the program said they don't care what you give as long as you don't get really angry.

You too! Very excited. How real does it seem now?

Just try the 2 shakes a day, lean cuisine or small meal (chicken breast or piece of fish and veggies only) with the only Snacks being broth, SF Jello, popsicles, carb friendly yogurt, G2 etc. It sucks but you will lose a ton. TRack it on my fitness pal for 10 days. Tell people to stay away from you bc you will be a bear. Or maybe that is just me. You will lose a lot. You can find a new doctor if you are upset that they have not been specific enough but they will all want you to do some kind of weight loss before they cut so why not just stck with what you know. I gained weight for most of my pre-op. Just couldn't say goodbye to food. I have lost 13 pounds really quickly. It is probably really more but my scale is driving me nuts so I am avoiding.

Testify Lissa!!
I am the same way. While I haven't put it on Facebook (yet) I have told a ton of people. In fact today I sent out an email to two ministries in church that I am involved with. I want to wear a shirt one skinny day long from now that says *Results Typical, Vertical Sleeve Gastrectomy
People are crazy if they think it is the easy way out. Now, that being said no judgements at all for not telling people. Everyone's walk is different. Everyone's job and relationships are different. If I were younger or single I know that I would want it to be a closely guarded secret. If I worked in an office I would too. I work in a hospital on a floor where at least 12 people have has gastric bypass or band. I think I am the first sleever.

I was totally doing awesome and then I moved my scale. Maybe 5 inches. Gained 3 pounds. Unreal. I can't wait to get down to 320 and start weighing on the wii fit again. Too fat for it right now.

I say get the surgery. There are always what ifs with the money. You could not buy makeup and donate money over time, you could own two pairs of thrift store clothes and donate your whole closet to the poor, you could sell all of your possessions and live with a small table and chair and bed. You could never watch tV or a movie and spend every free moment in a food pantry. Or you could have the surgery and keep your possessions and make a conscious effort to do a little more. Give a little more. Save a little more. If everyone did a little more then then the world would be much better than if a very few gave a ton.

My NUT has a big warning about Premier Protein. Because of the way the Amino Acids are laid out outs bodies can only absorb 12 grams of Protein per shake. So they are not an ideal source. She did say that you could mix in a scoop of flavored or unflavored powder and then it would be an excellent choice. And there is a costco coupon for premier this month.
