Sleeping After Sleeve
irishmama2004 replied to Shelli_d's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I thought about getting one too but did not need one. Yes, it takes a couple of minutes to get out of bed but it only lasts a few days. I was easily able to get out of bed with a tiny bit of pain by day 4. Just didn't seem worth buying a new chair for that. So I wouldn't recommend it. Sleeping itself was totally comfortable and I slept like a baby. -
Hi, I'm New Here :) Just Got A Surgery Date!
irishmama2004 replied to learning to fly's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Two things have recently changed my life. 1. Deciding to have this surgery (and then actually having it). 2. Finding this forum. -
Feeling No Support
irishmama2004 replied to jazzyjay's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Just do it and show them! Or say "Do you think i would do something so drastic if my doctor did not agree this was the right step?" Or "Do you think I am the type of person to jump into something like this without doing exhaustive research?" Just turn it back around on them. Make them squirm. -
Finally Did Some Youtube Videos.
irishmama2004 posted a topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am 11 days post-op and I finally posted my pre-op video plus a 10 day post-op video. This forum helped me through pre-op anxieties and all of the stuff you go through post-op. I can say I totally feel like my old self and have for days(scratch that, I feel better!). Check out my videos to see for yourself. I check in tomorrow at 7:30. Getting really emotional. My daughter's last day of first grade. Today was my sons' last day of preschool. We have had family in town and dance recitals all day Saturday. They have been nice diversions to keep my mind occupied but now it is really here. I know we will all do great. My friends have organized meals for my family for 3 weeks/4 days a week. What blessing. Many others will be taking my kids for various outings and then my mom is here to help for a week. All the laundry is done, my bag is packed and I just have that nasty bowel prep to do tonight. I will try to post on here or the May FB group at least.

Just Got Back From The Doctors Office
irishmama2004 replied to Tibbie's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am going in at 7:30 with surgery at 9:#0. Lots of luck to us both. I do have to do a bowel prep tonight. Let the fun begin. I already moved a little table in there to put my iPad on. Going to get caught up on Game of Thrones. -
I would add them if it seems like private messages aren't getting through. Just watch the group and your page and if anybody spams you unfriend and remove them.

Erin here. I sent you a message too. please add me. Thanks so much for setting it up.

Surgery Today...please Pray For Me!

Glad it wasn't a terrible complication. Happy to hear you are already getting better. That is crazy that you had no idea that you had the hernia. -
How Are All The May Sleevies Holding Up?
irishmama2004 replied to beautifulnewme2012's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Sounds really great. Yes, I have told everyone who is important to me but I'm FB friends with so many high school friends and even a couple of ex boyfriends that I would rather keep it secret. -

How Are All The May Sleevies Holding Up?

My NUT hates premier. She says that if you go ingredient by ingredient and calculate the amino acids you only get 8 grams of protein per shake. Many NUTs have written to the company repeatedly to tell them that they have false advertising but they will not change. Not sure if it true but I stay away from them. She says to add half a scoop of unflavored protein to it to beef t up and then you are good. -

Average Wait On Bcbs?
irishmama2004 replied to Singlemama's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I heard that day. They have an online submission process that is quick. If I had needed to fight them on something like if I was missing a year with weight record and needed to submit a picture it would have taken two weeks. -
Laxative Question
irishmama2004 replied to luvs2lose's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Miralax and MOM should be fine. You will get more cramping with MOM as it induced intenstines to start churning. Miralax works by flooding the bowels with fluid. It is an osmotic laxative. A stool softener is not the same thing. -

Another great non milky ones are the nectar powders. I love the fuzzy naval flavor and the lemon tea tastes like instant iced tea. I bet it would be good with half a scoop of the lemonade flavor. I got it at mybariatricpantry.com -
Mothers Day Blues
irishmama2004 replied to irishmama2004's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am still pre op. Liquid diet. we swam for two hours st the Y. My daughter andl i went to get pedis. -
We usually celebrate Mothers. Day as all things with a ton of food. The kids make me breakfast, we go out for dinner etc. this has been hard on me but also hard on my kids. The little ones don't really get it and my almost 8 year old is sad that she can't make me cookies. It makes me sad to think we can't figure out a way to celebrate the day without food. The plan was to go to the botanical gardens but it will be storming so no go. I think we now plan to go swim at the y if there is no lightning and my daughter and I will go get pedicures. It sounds really fun but I can't help but miss what used to be. A new normal.

3 Weeks Post Op An I Am Itching All Over

Scabies can be a common problem in hospitals. My mother thought she was having an allergic reaction after spending time with her mother in the hospital. She had scabies. -
Who To Tell And Not Tell....
irishmama2004 replied to kmoore's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I just had my first negative reaction to my surgery yesterday. A coworker on my unit just kept saying over and over that i should rethink. I was polite and told her how much research i had done and left it thamt. Who knows...maybe a family member of hers had a bad go with surgery. She is normally quiet and reserved and honestly i can appreciate that she cared enough to share her opinion. -
