    Attention ! Australian Sleevers

I had very bad nausea for the first 4 months after my surgery. I still have to take nexium every second day or so but that is for heartburn caused by eating spicy food. I also became lactose intolerant so now I have Zymil. My weight loss has slowed right down like my surgeon said it would but I am starting reformer pilates next week so hope to lose again soon. Recovery from this surgery for me was slow but I have no regrets.

    Attention ! Australian Sleevers

Actually, the last time I weighed myself I had lost 15kg(about a month ago). So the answer to that would be I don't really know because I don't own scales but I am fitting into my old size 16 work pants. I have a big bag in my room and as things no longer fit me I put them in the bag. I am so looking forward to going shopping in a few month's time because I'm working through my old clothes and pretty soon I'll have to start again. Yay!!

    Attention ! Australian Sleevers

I haven't been on here for awhile so I guess it is time for an update. I was sleeved at the end of May with Dr Justin Greenslade. He is not a touchy feely kind of guy but I like him and he has an excellent reputation. My surgery went very well and I got to go home a day early which was great. My recovery had a few ups and downs, felt really depressed at 3 weeks post op, I still take Nexium every day because I have a very sensitive stomach. I'm lactose intolerant so now I have Zymil. I have tried and failed to eat junk food like Maccas and it just makes me so sick I vomit. I crave good food and find that if I stick to unprocessed food, salads etc that I am fine. There is a lot of trial and error with the new stomach and my surgeon did tell me this. Oh, and I can't eat anything fried either or chocolate, icecream etc. Good I suppose really but it means I am a little inflexible with my diet these days because I hate the vomiting. Overall, I think this is the best thing I've done about my weight. I'm have started a new job a month ago, about to join the gym near work and generally feeling the best and happiest I have in years!

Has Anyone Ever Not Lost Weight?

I am 7 weeks out from my sleeve surgery and I still get hungry. However, I can't physically eat the amount I did before the surgery and now I prefer to eat nutrient dense food. I still have a problem with nausea so I prefer clean food. Not sure about the grehlin thing though - I'm in Australia and I've never heard of that.
  5. I know, isn't it amazing!! I think we are now actually eating the amounts we should before all the upsizing happened. Eating 5-6 small meals a day is better than 3 big ones. We could easily feed the world if we ate smaller serves.

    Eating At Night

I don't really follow rules with eating anymore apart from getting enough protein and fluids. We eat such little amounts I don't think it's worth it.
  7. Me too. I'm constantly eating and have to take snacks with me when I go out. I'm 5 weeks out from surgery. Sushi is my favourite.
  8. Hi Everyone I was sleeved 30/05/12 so I'm 4 weeks post op. I get so tired very easily and was wondering if this passes. I'm barely managing the daily things like dishes, cooking, washing etc. Does this pass or is there something I can do to make myself feel better? I feel like I've recovered from the surgery ie. incisions and bruising healed and feel pretty back to normal again. Is my body adjusting to eating such small amounts of food? I have a liquid multi Vitamin that I'm not good at taking because I hate the taste even when I put it in a drink and I also take fish oil. I'm completely lactose intolerant so only have lactose free milk in tea etc. I can't have Protein shakes even with lactose free milk because it makes me feel sick and nausea in general has been a problem. I am feeling better in this regard since my surgeon changed my medication to Nexium 40mg/day. Any advice would be great.

    Soooo Tired, Does This Pass?

No Lilee, I'm not taking B12 but my multi has B12 in it.
  10. Don't stress about some cottage cheese - I had that a few days after my surgery and was fine. I'm in Australia and I know every surgeon has their different ideas about diets etc post surgery so I wouldn't be worried.

    I'm Starving?

I'm only 2 weeks out and my body just can't tolerate the protein shakes I think because of the milk content, it's making me feel sick. I am having 5-6 tiny meals a day plus juice or water. I eat like a baby. Like Terrylynn, I eat when I'm hungry. I don't count calories since the amounts of food I am eating a so small and low in fat anyway. I would suggest you experiment, that is what my surgeon here in Australia suggested and it is working well for me - remember we are all different and what works for one person may not work for you.

    Hummus Chicken Salad!

Yummy!! I am only 8 days post op and at the mushy stage so I am definitely going to try that when I can. Another one that I make for lunch is cottage cheese(I'm Australian so not sure if you guys have this or call it something different), tuna, mashed avacado, lemon juice, freshly ground pepper.
  15. I felt really sick this morning after finishing my 200ml protein shake, had diarrhoea then had to lay down because my heart was beating so fast and I just did not feel great. I am day 8 post op. This is the first time it has happened to me. I am still making my shakes on water because I just can't stomach milk at the moment either. I see my dietician today and will be weighed for the first time since my surgery and hoping to get some confirmation that what I am eating is ok. I guess I need to slow down.
  16. Hi Amy, it is exactly a week ago today since I had my surgery and yes you feel like you've been hit by a bus but every day you will get stronger and feel better. Just follow your docs instructions and you will be fine. Congratulations!! I guess we are both on the "Loser's Bench""!

    Vitamins

I am 5 days post op as well. I have a liquid multivitamin that I put in my protein shake of a morning and can't even taste it plus I put Benefiber in as well for fibre. I made myself some chicken and vegie soup and then blended it smooth for some extra fibre. I have also had mashed banana mixed with some milk to make it liquidy and I have also blended a banana in my morning protein shake. Vitamins for me at the best of times have a funny taste so the liquid one is working out great!! Today was the first day I wasn't visited by "the creature from the black lagoon" and I think it is because of the fibre I'm adding.
  18. I also had my surgery here in Australia on 30th May. You really have to listen to your body, walk as much as you can, sip water and take pain meds if you need them. I am now on free fluids so I can have protein shakes, soup etc which has made a big difference. The most painful part for me I have to say were the headaches, much worse than any thing happening with my sleeve. You really will get better and better each day.
  19. Great post. Funny how things change and it definitely sounds like you are making the most of your new life and using your body to get your thrills so to speak and not a motor bike!!

Not long for me now my surgery is on Wednesday. Did you and your husband make it to Australia? Do yourself a favour and come see my beautiful country. Great blog.

    Trying To Decide

My surgery is next week and when I first went to see my surgeon I was all about the lap band until he told me about the VSG. I don't want to be phaffing around with fills etc plus the other risks of infection, flipping ports, slipped bands and having a foreign body inside me. I am really happy with my decision and can't wait for my surgery next Wednesday.
