I had someone with me and I was glad to have the company. I did meet a couple of people there by themselves and they were fine. I don't think it is unsafe to go by yourself but 4 or 5 days in another country after major surgery is a long time to be alone.

I only paid a $500 in advance with alighterme/obesityhelpinternational with Garcia in Mexico but I feel like if I would have paid the full amount, I would have been given a refund if I cancelled. Hopefully you will figure out what you need to do... And you will have one less thing to worry about! Good luck!

My flight was at 1040 am on a Wednesday. We left the Marriott at 645 am. It took us about an hour to get from the hotel to the airport. I wish we had spent the night at a San Diego hotel the night before rather then stay in Mexico. If I had it to do over I would try and get the hotel switched with the company I booked my surgery with before I left.

I have been at the Marriott Tijuana for the last couple of days. The hotel is nice, the bed is comfortable, there are a few (3-4) english speaking channels, and free wi-fi. They also offer 3 bowls of broth, 2 bottles of water, and 2 ice pops (watermelon or cantaloupe) each day during your stay. You can get this 24 hours a day at their restaurant or through room service. Also, if you are traveling with someone they get a 15% discount on any of their food. The prices aren't unreasonable $10-$12 per meal.

So can someone tell what to expect for the pre op testing? Do they just weigh you and take blood? Do you talk to anyone about post op diet? Do you get anymore info then the print out from the website? Sorry about all the questions!

I'm a travel agent... The only airline that will charge you for an extra seat is southwest. So if you are not flying them you won't be charged for an extra seat. I'm about the same size as you and always choose the window seat. That way I can shove myself into the corner. I have not had to use the extender and most of my weight is in my tummy. Good luck!
