The first month after surgery in August, my CPAP machine was blowing way too much air up my nose that I felt like I was choking
I felt fine without it, but went back to see my sleep specialist. We discovered my brain stops me from inhaling naturally. I no longer have obstructive sleep apnea, but have central apnea. And actually, I am okay with all of it. My machine has been my friend. And now that I've lost 70 pounds, I sleep even better and feel extra rested the next day. Who knows, I might skip using it now and then.

My bariatric program nurse told us to switch OFF of XR to regular psych meds. I feel less depressed on them and wt loss is going well. Regular Effexor tastes nasty. So, I bought empty gel capsules and stuff one pill into half the capsule.

After losing so much weight that my Nordstrom's bra didn't fit, I went back for a refitting and exchanged the old bra for the new one--- at no charge!

Some days, the thought of dense Protein makes me sick to my stomach!!
I wonder if it is normal at 3 months to feel, "OMG, what have I done? No more large meals, or excessive eating, or eating to relax, entertain, feel better?"
My little tummy is so small that I hardly get going on my meal when it is time to STOP! I'm having a hard time with that right now. I haven't been advanced yet to a normal diet. In 2 weeks I can have raw fruits and vegetables (FINALLY!). I hope that takes the nausea away. I secretly wonder, "OMG, what have I done? Dense protein at every meal? Gag..

70# down from my highest wt
40# down from surgery
When I walk hard enough to sweat for one hour, I drop weight. This balances out the indiscretions I indulge in from time to time--those foods that don't belong in my food plan.

I am 62 & dos was Aug 5 2013. I wondered the same thing. So I stepped up my walking pre op. Friends were shocked I recovered so quickly.

Every week, every day, every meal, every bite of food--making the best choiceat all times takes tremendous amount of practice, patience and compassion. Think of pre-op as a kind of having your 'training wheels' on. You are learning so much about yourself every day. It's all great practice and no mistake goes to waste (but it might go to waist) Hit the re-set button, and start again. best wishes

After reading all responses, I realized that I don't have to run to pee as often. But it comes out much slower

More stamina... Don't need a mid day siesta 10 weeks out.

I regularly weigh myself every Sunday am on an empty stomach, in the buff. If I feel bloated, I will weigh in during the week for a reality check. For 3 days, I ate off plan, fatty foods, and was shocked to see I gained 1.5 # only 10 weeks out. Great wakeup call. I am learning the Rules are there BECAUSE THEY WORK. ( emphasis for my own benefit only) best wishes

The final straw was being unemployed for 2 years, and wanting to rule out weight (and age) discrimination.

I read vsg can help because the pressure on the internal organs is relieved. One mo out, I noticed just the opposite. I don't need any muscles to urinate. Any one else experience this reversal.?

I can cross my legs and sit cross legged on the floor. No mean glares from other people in narrow aisles in the store. 30 minutes goes by quickly on the treadmill

I told my healer friend today that I had the sleeve after we spent a good chunk of time hanging out. I brought up the subject up naturally when we were talking about health and food.
I told her I withheld this info from her because I wasn't sure how she would react. Of course, there was that initial silence while she absorbed what I said. She had questions, which I answered. I also shared more about the long year journey. Her response was, 'Well, as long as your have done your research."
All in all, it was sort of a non-issue. People don't care as much about our weight as we ourselves care
about our weight. She was surprised to hear I'd lost 65 pounds from my highest weight and that I used to wear a size 24. A couple of people now have said I carried my heavy weight well.

I did not tell my best friend is a healer and extremely dedicated to the natural means in medicine. However today I told my hairdresser lol. Today I saw a friend who had not seen me since my surgery on August 5th she said at the top of her lungs and in a surprised voice, "You've lost everything! " She asked me how and I told her I just changed all the habits in my life - - - which is the TRUTH!

If anyone is rolling her eyes about SIT AND BE FIT, it looks innocuous enough, but is quite a workout.

I am only 5 months out, but stocked up on many many pair of wool socks for the winter in California-- haha--- you know like when it is only 50 degrees out. I've heard that if you sleep with your socks on it keeps you warm all night and I'm wondering if it would help to wear socks during the day and warm up one's body core that way.
