    Officially Banded!

Me, too! Yesterday I hit my 2 weeks and was so eager to get on to the next food phase. Had bean soup yesterday and I finally wasn't hungry. Hooray for stage 2. Good luck to us!

    Lapband Failed

Maybe it is time to get back to the basics? Sometimes you have to re-asses since it is easy to wonder off the right path. Have you attended support groups? Are you getting enough protein, drinking enough liquids, excercising every day? The committment to go through the op is huge! You owe it to yourself to exhaust every resource before deciding to have it removed. Won't it be that much harder to lose any weight without it? Good luck to you!

    Some Thoughts

Congrats on your success! I'm 11 days post op and also off for the summer. I go back August 1, and have lost 25 lbs from my heaviest. Isn't it funny how much different you feel when you hit "onederland"? I just had my stitches removed and weighed in at 203. I'm so ready for onederland!! My treat for getting under 200 will be a shellac mani/pedi, just in time for school to begin. Good luck on your continuing success!

    Day 1...here Goes Nothing

You can do it! Just remember the reason for the pre-op diet. Not only so your liver won't be harmed during the operation, but think of the diet as a dress-rehearsal for the important post op diet. I'm almost two weeks post op and can tell you that it is sooo worth it! Good luck to you and let us know how it goes.
  6. Post op appointment to get stiches removed and I've lost 11 lbs!!

    Anyone Getting Banded In July?

The gas pain was the worst of the side effects! The doctors office said unfortunately the Gas X strips won't always work since the majority of the gas is not in your stomach, but outside, around your diaphragm. I found myself walking two and three times a day, which really helped. Sorry for the pun, but this, too will pass. Good luck to you!

    Anyone Getting Banded In July?

Congratulations to you. I don't know that I could have waited that long without wanting to strangle something! Good luck on your upcoming surgery. I had my Realize band put in 8 days ago and feeling good.

    Anyone Getting Banded In July?

Hang in there! Mine was postponed twice. Like my doc said, sometimes the stars and planets have to be aligned just right. It's frustrating, yes, but it will happen, so hang in there!

    Anyone Getting Banded In July?

Good luck! You will be surprised at how soon you are feeling better. Mine was a week ago (Realize band). I was flip-flopping between Lapband and Realize and didn't decide until an hour before my procedure! Just follow all your doctor's advice, attend support meetings before and after and you will do very well!

    Anyone Getting Banded In July?

I'm day 6 post op; got the Realize band and had a hiatal hernia repair. I've resumed normal activities except lifting. Get your stuff ready (Gas x strips, puddings, protein shakes, s/f beverages, etc.) The procedure itself was not as painful as I would have imagined. I only had to take pain meds twice. You will need to move around to help with gas pains -- those were the worst, but Gas X strips and walking helped. Also, make sure you get a RX for nausea medications for the date of your surgery. You don't want to battle that! Good luck!

    Get Results Tomorrow

Hope your tests come back ok. I had a cyst and a hernia and had to undergo 2 endoscopies, so my date had to be postponed a couple of times. I wanted to cry each time. But just remember that the doctor has your health in mind. Also, my doc put me on a diet two weeks pre op so that my liver could shrink and harden up a bit. She said the risk of injuring your liver during the procedure decreases significantly, so I kep that in mind those two weeks pre op. Good luck to you!

    10 Days Away From Surgery!

I'm 5 days post op (Realize band with one incision and hiatal hernia repair). You will def. be ready to go back to work in a week. Keep up with your shakes pre and post op. Also, some unflavored protein powder that you can mix into homemade freezer pops or soups, or add to Gatorade, etc. Also, I discovered that Lipton makes great Cream of Chicken soup in handy individual packets. Just make sure you strain it. You can eat this from day 2 on. Good luck!
  21. 5 days post op and I'm feeling almost 100 percent better!

    Anyone Getting Banded In July?

I had the realize band on July 5th, so I'm 2 days post op. I was feeling much better than I expected, but the gas pains began yesterday. I'm walking, walking, taking gas x strips, and that is the worst part. Barely had anything to eat since op. Just not hungry and with the bloating it doesn't really want to go down. Pain is very minimal, only when I get in and out of bed or the coach. This is not bad!

    Anyone Getting Banded In July?

Had my Realize band put in yesterday. All went well, and thankfully no gas pains; Second day out and I'm just groggy and a little sore. How about you?
