    Back to Work

Today is my first day back at work. I think I am doing phenomenal!! I did however think it was a good idea to wear my jeans to work...ummmm....NOT! The jeans don't rub any of the incision sites but when I sit they push up under the lowest one, not very comfy. It's a good thing I have on a big sweatshirt so I could have my pants unzipped under my desk Hubby to the rescue he brought me my yoga pants! So I'm looking pretty slumpy but I'm here and I feel good!! My first official weigh in will be on Wednesday (on the once a week plan) but I'd be lying if I said I haven't jumped on the scale every morning. So far it's about a pound a day. I'm sure it will slow down soon but it sure is fun to see the scale moving that fast!

Day 5 Post Op-Finally begining to see the light

I'm so sorry your first 5 days have been so bad. Just remember everyday will get easier!!!
  5. Costco the 18 pack is 25, Sams club the 12 pack is 18. But I have also seen them pretty cheap on Amazon. If you aren't local to a store I would definitely watch Amazon. They aren't always cheaper on there but if they have a sale you can stock up pretty well.

    Starting Over At Step One...

Well, after going to an orientation and meeting with 2 surgeons. It appears that to get my sleeve after my lap band I have to start over.... Long story short, I had a lap band placed in 2008 and lost 50 lbs. I kept it off until December 2010 when the band slipped and had to be removed. Fast forward 15 months to now, and I have regained every pound I lost and am basically miserable with my health. (NOT my life because alot of great things have happened in the past 15 months...new house, new husband!!) There are alot of reasons for the weight regain but what it comes down to is that I overate to a scary extent (according to the surgeon I had to eat an additional 180,000 calories!!!). So as of right now I am not a good risk for a band (past band failure, as well as weight regain). In order to prove that I am a good risk, and serious about this I have to lose 25 lbs....Yikes!!! That's like 1/2 of what I lost WITH the help of the lap band. I do understand the reasoning behind it, from the surgeons perspective. However, let's be honest, THIS SUCKS!!! Looks like I'll be white-knuckling it for awhile!! I'm trying to see the up side of this...better recovery, more success and let's face it weight loss. So...ready or not, let's do this thing!!!
  7. I'm home....3 days post op! Doing very well. I am having some sort of reaction to the dermabond glue they used on the incisions and they are big red and puffy. Not oozy at all. Took a pic and sent to the dr they said it's a reaction so I'm using benedril to combat that. Other than that I'm not in any sort of discomfort. Actually this surgery was WAY easier than the band placement or removal. I was able to sleep in my own bed first day home!! Just sipping sipping sipping....I was able to get in one Protein drink yesterday and part of one today. I have found that warm liquids work much better than cold. Each day gets better!!!! Oh and for any of you wondering....I did gain 5 lbs in the hospital from the IV fluids and gas they pumped into me. However as of this morning (3 days later) I have dropped all 5 plus 2 extra!!!
  8. Hey Pammie, I totally know what you mean! The first couple of days I was sure there was no way I could do it But I have discovered that warm liquids go down easier than cold. So by drinking warm tea broth etc. it definitely helps. I am also drinking decaff no sugar iced tea (well lukewarm not iced) Yesterday I managed to get down 48 oz of liquids plus 1 - 11 oz protein drink. So almost 60 oz. which I guess is ok for day 2. I just feel like all i'm doing is drinking. I keep hearing every day gets easier so I'm really hoping!!!

    3 days post op

Well I had surgery Wednesday and I'm going back Monday. And I'm sure ill be fine. I'm still tired about 1/2 thru the day but I have a sit down job so I'm not too worried. Am I hungry? Well its hard to explain. I guess its hunger but its a very different feeling than before. Its more like a little nudge saying. ..."hey you need to get something in here." Where before it was an overwhelming urge to put something in my mouth.

    260 Back

  15. Three days from getting my sleeve! I was banded back in 2008 and had to have it removed in 2012 due to a profound slip. So I has been 2 full years since I had the thing and the surgeon still had to remove some scar tissue left from the band. I know some surgeons will do the band removal and sleeve at the same time, some prefer to wait in between to give the stomach time to heal. It's going to depend on your surgeon and how much damage has been done by the band. So far, this surgery has been much easier than the band. Good luck as you go forward!!!

Less than 24 hours to go!

Me too....me too!! I have a 6 AM check in too! Surgery at 7:30. IThanks for the reminder...gotta go shave my legs!
  17. Tomorrow is my day! Surgery scheduled for 7:30 AM at CA Pacific Medical Center is San Francisco. I'm on all liquids today, milk of magnesia tonight (oh boy) and I have to leave my house by 4 AM to be in San Francisco by 6 AM. Don't think I'll get much sleep tonight. I'm really excited, but also nervous! Wish me luck!!
  18. It's just a head cold...mostly drippy nose and scratchy throat. I don't have a fever and my chest isn't congested but I'm worried about showing up at the hospital and them saying "sorry can't do it" My husband keeps telling me not to worry that if I don't have a fever I should be fine but I'm so close I'm taking 2000 mg Vitamin C and Zinc every 3 hours. Anybody else have surgery with a cold???
  19. That's what my husband said, "just don't say anything". I guess as long as I don't have a fever or congested lungs I should be fine....Maybe I'm just getting nervous...
  20. I'm really hoping I'm one of those that have an easy recovery. I am going to travel to CO by plane exactly 2 weeks after my surgery. My sisters getting married, so the trips been planned for awhile. My Dr. thinks I'll be fine that far out, he says people fly in for surgery and fly out within a few days. I'll just be getting to soft foods so I'm sure that will be a challenge, but I'm staying with family so that should make it easier. I wasn't going to postpone the surgery (I've waited long enough) and I'm certainly not missing my sisters wedding!! So I'm going on faith that I'm going to be good!!!
  21. Wonderful Decision!!! I had to have my band removed after 2 years of so-so weight loss and LOTS of throwing up, because it slipped and completely blocked my stomach. Now here I am 1 week from getting my sleeve and I'm with the previous poster. I am hoping that all the band to sleeve revision people are right and the sleeve turns out to be all the band promised!!! Good Luck on your journey!

    March Sleevers

Hi Bringiton!!! First of all...love the name. I am also a March 6th sleevette!! Whoot-Whoot!!! Two weeks from tomorrow! I'm in Northern California, but grew up all over the place! I recently remarried (less than 2 years) and my husband is truly my soul mate! My husband and I have 7 kids between us...sounds like we have a few things is common...Kids! Ours range from 21 to 8. I work full time as an accounting assistant for a moving company. And my hobby, which is what I'm doing to keep me from eating is quilting. I have been heavy most of my adult life (and even as a kid, I can remember buying "pretty-plus" sized clothes) and I'm really looking forward to just being able to participate in my life with my new hubby!!!
