  1. where do you find liquid for adults? I looked at Walmart and all i found was the kind for kiddos.
  2. Thanks so much...I was kinda half afraid that i'd have to drink a bottle.
  3. I am offically getting my band next week and I have appreciated all the comments I have read. I have a question that I want to put out to all you "seasoned" banders. I understand that the first months/year there are adjustments both phyically and mentally that take place. As I look past the surgery and recovery time...I was wondering if anyone has attended a weight loss group (such as Weight Watchers) to help keep on track? I am so afraid of slipping back into the habits that got me to this point in the first place...and I remember when I attended a WW meeting several years ago a comment was made that people with the band have used the plan to further their weight loss and to learn the life skills that WW teaches.
  4. thank you so much joyb1only...that was just the kind of information I was looking for. I have been on weight watchers on and off for years and really like the program...and was wondering if it was doable the the band. Thanks for your insight. I appreicate your help.

    Katy bandsters??

oh I would so love to come, but I have a very busy 3 year old and a husband who doesn't always get home on time. My surgery is on 4/26...hopefully I'll be able to join you sometime soon.

I work in Sugar Land...actually Fort Bend ISD...and I still smile when I think of the name. I love the area.

    Houston Docs

I am having my band done next week...4/26...with Dr. Chris Riley who is with True Results. He did my EGD and I really liked him...so far I have really liked the True Results group--except they are tend to wait till the last minute to let you know things--such as when your surgery is actually scheduled (I have no idea when to show up for mine--when I call I'm told that the surgerical nurse will call me the Friday before). Their office, which is near Reliant Stadium, in the hospital district, is kinda tricky to find, but so far everyone has been really nice and they don't make me feel "bad" for being overweight. Good luck on your journey.

    Houston Support Group!

I have been wondering the same thing. I am getting my band next week..April 26...through True Results. I understand they have support group, but I live in Katy, work in Fort Bend ISD, and have a 3 year old that I need to pick up before 6:00--so that group just doesn't work for me. I was hoping to find Houston area support either in person or here on this site. Please let me know if you know of any support groups in and around the West Houston area.

    Post Op Pantry

This topic may already be on here somewhere, but I don't really have any inclination to look...I am getting "banned" next week and this weekend I wanted to make sure my pantry had all the post-op stuff I needed to get through the next couple weeks. Please tell me what items helped you through post-op...I have heard lots about popsicles, broth, and creamy soups....anything else??? My dr. told me that he "allows" a slightly higher calorie content the first week becuase of all the liquid...so I'm thinking that it may be more fun to have something that's more tasty than just a couple sips of canned chicken broth. All suggestions welcome!!!!

    Protein Shake

To be honest...i too think they are gross, but I've been drinking them. My mom suggested using a blender with ice cubes and my dr. said that it's ok to add some fruit or sugar free pudding to alter the taste. Have you tried that? I don't know if it's "legal" but I have also taken a big sip, swallowed, then took a drink of diet coke. That helped get it down the first few days. Good luck

    Pre-Op Diet

It's funny that you say you are craving "unfavorite" foods...I got to laughing with some co-workers about being HUNGRY. We got to laughing when someone said, "Forget coveting your husband/boyfriend...I just want your food!!!" It's awful...but we'll be on the other side soon and can laugh about all of this.

    Pre-Op Diet

6 shakes...wow...I don't know if I could do that. I get 2 shakes and a "healthy" meal. Good luck to you.
  15. Hello everyone. I have my surgery scheduled for April 26 and the one nagging concern is the heria repair that will also occur. I'm sure with this many members that I know that there are folks that had a haital hernia repair. I want to ask about pain and how debilitated you were after surgery...from what i can gather the band procedure isn't that bad at all. I have a 3 year old and am a special ed teacher who needs to get back to school to finish up the end of the year ARD/IEP meetings. I realize that everyone's pain tolerance is different...but I just need some answers from people who've been there. thanks bunches

    Excited And Nervous

    Great news. You'll do amazing.
  17. I have been on the pre-op diet about 3 days and I have noticed that I am always thirsty...even though I am constantly drinking water. Anyone else have this?? I was wondering if the protein shake is causing this to happen--since I'm definately not eating anything with a high sodium content.

    Introductions? Yes Please

Hello...I am Sharon and I live in Katy, TX (which is a suburb of Houston-so to speak). I am looking forward to my banding on April 26...I have been struggling through the pre-op diet since Thursday and found that the weekend was the hardest for me--maybe because I was at home not really doing much. I am getting my band through True Results and my surgeon is Dr. Christopher Riley. He did my EGD and I really liked him. I am looking forward to this new journey and hope that there aren't the roadblocks that always seemed to derail me before. Looking forward to chatting with everyone...especially when it gets closer.

    Thirsty

I will have to try the popsicles when I get home...(it's hard to bring those to work so I will be thinking about them all day)
  20. Thanks for posting this topic as it has been something that I have been wondering about. My surgury is on Thurs the 26th and I am planning to go back to work on Monday--have meeting I have to attend. I guess I may need to rethink that and take another couple days off. Thanks everyone.
