  2. Girl get on the train & go to Brooklyn! Lots of docs in BK Heights...glad u can move forward!
  3. Awesome post. Thanks for the reality check! I am 18 months out & needed to hear that. You are a success!!!
  4. I totally do this.....I go to HEB Central Market and try samples....they will even let u try differnt fruit & organic drinks & smoothies.....i see nothing wrong as i do purchase other items there
  5. I love the banana flavor!!!!
  6. I know people treat me differently...try being a morbidly obesse african american & see how people ignore or look right through you. I work for a University and for 6 years most faculty NEVER ADRESSED me directly or by name. Now 15 months after surgery i am in awe at how many not only knew my name but some how i am worthy of their conversation! I am proud of what i did for me...anyone else hangups or weirdness will not disturbe my vsg groove!!!
  7. I slept in an upright position for a few weeks. We have a huge bed so i got in knee first (still do) and then poistioned myself with my 4 king size pillows...slept like a baby!!
  8. I had bloodless vsg here in Houston w Dr. Marvin..yes a surgeon must be trained in this technique, aware of the alternative treatments if something goes wrong, and the hospital should be equiped with things like cell savers. I also started a regiment of EPO months before surgery to build my blood count. Very important that the anethesiologist (not sure if i spelled wrong) is aware of your wishes.

  10. Ladies a bra is part of your foundation. It can make you look lumpy or saggy. Might I suggest going bra shopping with a friend at a buy one get one sale or 2 for sale. Dillards in Houston has a brand called Modern Movement it has a little padding if your girls get perky at inoppurtune times. It is the best t-shirt bra ever..and i get more women complementing me and asking about the type of bra i wear.
  11. Ok i just go for the real deal if the urge hits. "HAAGEN DAS" Carmel Cone Exposion. Thankfully i have never been a big sweet eater but that is the best ever!!!!
  12. Im in too: SD: 3/10/11 SW: 273 CW: 176.4 GW: 166 & work out 3 times a week This will be good to get my momentum goong again.

  14. I also have Aetna PPO. Ur out of pocket will depend on the terms agreeded upon by ur employer. My surgeon & hospital were out of network but he accepted the Aetna payment and did not pass the difference on to me. I pd about $300 for all lab & evaluations after insurance. My first preop visit i pd the $10 copay. Also, look into hospital copays..we do not have one but was billed for one which Aetna worked out for me. Rambling sorry on the bus now...take advantage of the nurse from Aetna they will call to check on u & make sure u understand how to eat, what ur pain level is or your incisions..
  15. Wow u look awesome!!! I agree with u about enjoying life. I never realized i wasn't until i lost 1/2 of myself. I love my tool and so grateful my husband helped me to make it happen. Nothing like good support!
  16. Yesssss.i wear my Spanx every day...and love them
  17. 54 BMI now down 100 lbs & love my secret weapon!!
  18. Please do not put ur surgery off for others. Today i had 1 slice whole wheat toast w peanut butter; curry chicken w black Beans & kale & pear salad; turkey meat w mexican seasoning, cheese, onions, lettuce, 4 oz cofee, 3 bottles of Water and a few almonds... I am 14 months out and down 96 lbs....my family now eats like i do...they respect my decsion because they see my dedication. The sleeve is my personal tool. It helps me to make choices i could not make a year ago.. You are going to do great. If u decide to have surgery or not let it be your choice. I would hate for u to resent your family in the future if the other program does not work for you.
