I have lost SO much hair since my surgery in April. About a month ago (6 months post op) I started researching wigs. I now own 3 of them and I love them! My hair is starting to come back now, actually this weekend I will be getting a pixie cut to even it out. In the mean time I will be rocking the wigs. I am attaching 2 of the wig pics. Good luck!!!

Hey all... like the rest of you, I have not been aroun a lot. Been busy...happy to say!! Weather finally broke (the heat), so I have been out doing a lot of yard and garden work. I have to admit, it hardly seems like work. It is a lot of fun to bend over and not feel sick or to get too tired after only 30 mins outside. I was sleeved on 4/12 and like many of you this month has been a month of stalls. This morning I am finally down 3.5 pounds. Yippie!!! I was beginning to think that I was not going to lose a thing this whole month. I do have to keep in mind what my daughter said to me this morning... "well mom, you have not gained any all month either and that is also a victory"...she is right. I need to keep that in mind!
The only down side to things right now is the Hair loss. I mean, I am still losing hair by the handfuls!!! My 3 month check-up showed that I was getting plenty of Protein and all my other counts were good except an elevated copper level. I will have that rechecked at my 6 month visit and if it is still elevated, they will investigate further. Many of the issues with elevated copper have to do with liver issues and all my liver enzimes are really good. Wish I would stop losing my hair though. I can hardly comb it without losing a handful every time. It is all over my bathroom...yuck. I am taking Biotin, but so far, that has not seemed to help. If anyone has a "magic bullet" on the hair loss front, I am all ears.
Glad to see that we are all still hanging in there...stalls and all
    Take care all.

I had my surgery on 4/4/2012. So let me start by saying EVERYONE IS UNIQUE. Right after surgery I was out of it on morphine and slept most of the time. The next day was bad. I was in pain and nausea set in because of the morphine. I had to do the swallow test and that was pretty bad too. All those feelings were the next day after surgery. That evening I felt much better watched TV in my hospital room and the nausea went away. The next day I felt even better now that I was off the morphine the nausea was gone and I had some apple juice. I ended up staying 2 nights before going home. No complications. Now about the pain, feels like I did some serious stomach exercise. First week energy wise... I took 2 hour naps EVERYDAY I had a friend stay with me that first week and on day 9 we went out to SAMs club and walked around for an hour and a half! I was so tired on the way back home I swore I was going right to bed for a nap but when I got home I felt so full of energy it surprised me. My friend went home that weekend and I started feeling better. By day 14 I was out and Around, cooking And going up and down stairs. If your hubby will be with you for the first week you will be fine. Don't do anything for a week except for drink your protien and Water and nap. In 2 weeks you will turn that corner and feel great. I am about 3 months out now. I feel normal like nothing happened. I am down a little over 50LBS this weekend I crosses over to regular misses sizes and I have so much energy! Good luck to you and I wish you a quick recovery.

So I'm about 8 weeks out and desperately "shopping" in my closet for the smallest items. About 2 years ago my hubby shrunk my favorite summer sweater by washing it and putting it in the dryer when it clearly stated DRY CLEAN ONLY. Because I loved it so much I couldn't bring myself to throw it out. Today I found it at the bottom of a pile of "will never wear again" clothes. To my surprise IT FIT ME PEEFECTLY!!!
Had to share :-) enjoy your weekend everyone I sure am!

depends on the food. I can sip a Soup and hand and drink the whole thing. I think it is like 300 mls. Yogurt I can eat about 1/3 cup. I had 1 oz of chicken cooked in the crock pot with mushroom Soup and a spoonful of mashed potatoes. I agree with you that food doesn't seem as important anymore
    I'm 3 weeks out tomorrow

One year ago today, I took the plunge and revised from the band to the sleeve.

Everyone knows my story, and most of y'all have followed me for the last year. There really aren't enough words that can even remotely explain just how fabulous life is post-op, and just how amazing all the little victories make me feel day in and day out. As I've gotten further out, I noticed I started taking for granted the little things. Ya know, walking around the mall for hours without hurting or huffing and puffing, doing 4 hours of yardwork without a break and not having a coronary, sitting in the floor and not having to waddle my way up grasping for anything to support myself. All of these things are day in and day out activities that I found difficult, or completely avoided before surgery.

I've lost a total of 148 pounds since my journey began with the band, and with the sleeve alone I've dropped 141 pounds in less than a year.

Maintenance is now easier, and I'm assuming my body is content with 121-125 pounds. I'll not complain, and realize that this is where it needs to be.

This year, my focus is going to turn to toning up, getting in better shape, and making a baby with my fabulous husband.

I celebrated today by shopping (you didn't expect anything less did you?). I stopped by Ross with a girlfriend, and after she had to leave, I just kind of browsed. I ran across a pair of Calvin Klein crop pants, size 4. I thought to myself should I be brazen enough to even think I could squeeze into these. Should I even bother? I took them and a few other items into the fitting room. The shirts fit perfectly, and with slight trepidation I slid my pants off, and sucked in my everything with all my might in hopes of squeezing into them.

Well, low and behold, they fit, and I had room in the waist. Not having to suck anything in, not having to hold my breath, not feeling like I was being squeezed into a sausage casing.

The best part of the entire situation is that they are STARK WHITE! ! !

I can't count how many times I've wanted to wear white pants especially in the Spring/Summer, but didn't because light colors make us look bigger, and they aren't very forgiving.

I absolutely love this outfit, the little brown shirt/jacket thing is new as well size small ! ! ! I can't wait to see what the next year brings me.

If you are contemplating the sleeve, stop thinking about it, just do it. If you think for one minute that you won't succeed, please get rid of the negativity. All of the bad thoughts, and self-doubt are not going to give you the results you want in the end. Remember, the sleeve will give you exactly what you put into it. Work your sleeve, but do not beat yourself up if you decide to have an Oreo cookie. 1-2 Oreo Cookies didn't make us fat, the entire package of Oreos with a half gallon of milk made us fat.

And, the obligatory, side by side, before/after 1 year out pic ! ! !

Cheers to every single one of you regardless of where you are in the journey. Hang on tight, it's a wild ride, enjoy every minute, cherish the victories, move past the struggles, and come out on the other side BIG WINNERS ! ! !

Played it safe today. Bought myself a get well present. A new MK purse and matching wallet. That oughta hold my shopping itch for a while. Guess I will have to shop in my own closet for a little while too.

For me week two is when I suddendly started feeling great! My energy came back and I felt normal, other than the changes in eating of course. I did somehow pull my muscles with a sneeze when caused a side pain on my sutures for a couple of weeks off an on pretty intense. But nothing serious or of consequence. It's a pretty big surgery and even though there aren't much traces of it (i.e., little tiny scars) it's still a big deal. It takes some time to recover. But overall I am amazed at how quickly we all seem to get back on our feet. Hang in there! Sending lots of good thoughts your way for a super speedy recovery!!!!!
