  1. I thought I would post a few reasons why I decided to make this journey in life. I'm not banded yet but hopefully I will be in a few months. Share your reasons if you would like. I have never told anyone any of these. But I decided to get the Lapband so I can... -Wear horizontal stripes. -Wear a shirt with an x in front of it. - have my husband pick me up for a great kiss - Not being the biggest person in the room - wear my wedding ring again -stop having to buy clothes online -Fit into my standard bath tub -sit in a standard chair and not feel the arms digging into my side. -Not feel the bounce of the car when I get in -stop stretching out my 3x shirts after washing them. -stop having to buy men's belts. -go out to eat I not feel like people are watching everything I eat. - get people to stop feeling sorry for me. -have my queen size big to feel big enough for me and my husband. - be able to run. - not get gestational diabetes - run and play with my future kids -stand for longer than 20 mins without my back hurting - get rid of this extra chin - do I can be a better nurse - be happy and healthy And much more
  2. 5'4 285lbs 22-24 3x Hopefully getting banded in a few months
  3. Well I had my gall bladder out 3 years ago and it was such a nice recovery. I was walking up and down stairs that night. Just wondering if that means I'll have an easy recover when I get banded in a few months
  4. Has anyone ever had their gall bladder out then been banded? Is the pain of recovery about the same?
  5. We are all made so differently. My sister has never been over 115lbs and can't wear tall boats crazy
  6. I love food but I love my health more. Not banded yet but I think about when I had kids and brig able to run around with them and play is worth given up McDonalds for life or soda. Im in constant back pain and I would give up bread to be pain free
  7. Ever been over seas. I lives in africa for 2 years an had a stomach bug that causes sulfur burps and diarrhea.
  8. One big reason I want to get the band is bc I have major back problems. I'm in constant pain in my lower back as sometimes upper. My chiropractor told me I have disk degeneration and wasn't from being over weight. I'm sure it doesn't help but has anyone had disk degeneration or back issues and it has been resolved with the Lapband? Thanks
  9. I have not been banded yet so I'm wondering if you can feel the port when you sleep on your side?
  10. I have bcbs-il and there is only one requirement. If your bmi is under 40 you need a comorbidity. Mine is above 40 so I just need a note from my doc saying that. My surgeon requires a 1 week liquid diet and a chat with a psychologist which I already do. He said it will take 2-3 months until I'm banded
  11. My surgeon said most erosions come from people over eating and ther pouch expands so much over time. Like a dog with a chain to tight around its neck it will start growing into the neck.
  12. Have you taken all the saline out of your band? Does it help? I know it's not a good choice because you still have more to lose but I'm thinking about getting banded and I just want to know the options if this happens to me
  13. I plan on telling everyone and anyone. I have not been banded yet but I have told 3 friends brother sister and parents I'm thinking about it. My mom wants me to start a blog take before and after pics and send out a big family/friend email. I'm not going to do that until I know for sure my insurance is in line and I'm approved for surgery. But I went to te seminar last night and almost came home to make a Facebook post but didn't haha I'm turning in my paperwork today. I'm very open with my life an I don't care who knows stuff about me. If they are goin to judge me then I'll say goodbye to them. I think it will be great to have the support and not have to explain to my family why I only had a couple bites at Xmas or something. But I think everyone is different and you should do what is comfortable for you
  14. I really need it. The only problem might come when I deal with my insurance. I work at a hospital and I have insurance through them but I want to be banded at a different hospital do I hope my insurance covers that bc if not I have to start the process over at a hospital an hour away. Also I'm not that worried bc I know it's a simple procedure but the surgeon I met with tonight has done tons of surgeries but only 29 lapbands. It's new to my semi small town so I don't think I'm worries but any thoughts on the low number?
  15. Thanks everyone. And thanks for the support I
  16. After a lot of research, a lot of thought and my seminar today I'm ready for my band. Could have it as early as July. I'm ready
  17. Well that is an average without a band but I know people on here that have lost 40lbs in that amount of time. Not sure I'm not banded yet
  18. I just had a sleep test last week. It was no big deal. You just lay there and try not and get tangled. If you have sleep apnea they will come in in the middle of the night and hook you up to a Cpap. Im still waiting for my results but I didn't get he Cpap so I dot have apnea so not sure what is wrong with me. I didn't do the test bc of the Lapband. I did it bc I have had sleep problems all my life. Some insurance companies don't need a co morbidity. With bcbs il if you have a bmi above 40 that's enough to get approved.
  19. I think the doc should go over that with everyone and say " if I have to open you would you still want it?" I go on tues to my first seminar so I'll know what my Pre op diet will be
  20. That is terrible. I don't know if I would do it if they had to open me up.
  21. O that is terrible!!!
  22. What is the best lotion to reduce and prevent stretch marks and loose skin
