  1. And thanks everyone for helping me through this
  2. I don't think she was bluffing.... She cancelled all my future appointments. I'm going to call the doc office but I think I need a few days to breathe
  3. The way my surgeon works is with a team so this dietitian is part of that team so I can't just go find a new one. And this was the 3rd dietitian in this team I have seen. The first one I have been working with for 6 months then she passed me off to like her supervisor which was this one I meet with yesterday. I was suppose to meet with the 1st one nov 9 but this dietitian said they were going to cancel that appt and talk about me at the next team meeting and see what the team wants to do with me.
  4. She didn't say my bmi was too high for the Sleeve she said it was too high for the band. She said I can't get the sleeve because I don't have enough time to devote to it with being in school and working full time.
  5. She has been doing this for four years so I feel like she is qualified. She scolded me for having a few sodas but didn't say anything about losing 15 lbs in just a few weeks. Ughhh
  6. It's very hard to get a second opinion My Heath insurance is through the hospital where i work. I tried to go to a different hospital but my insurance said they wouldn't cover it if it wasn't through my hospital.
  7. Today was a rough day an my eyes burn from crying for hours. 7 months ago my primary doctor suggested I check out Lapband surgery. I never thought it before because I thought it was a cop out but at 300 lbs, back pain, knee pain and a sad future looking forward gaining weight when I choose to have children. I decided to start on the path of Lapband and within a week I met with the surgeon, physical therapy, therapist and nutritionist. Everyone said I'm a great candidate for Lapband and just had a few changes to make I.e work out more. So I changed my diet and tried to work out more but working full time and going to nursing school made it all very difficult. Throughout the months I met with the dietitian and she said I was on track and said I needed one more appt with the higher up people and there shouldn't be a problem thinking I would have surgery during Xmas break. I met with these higher people and they proceeded to tell me I am no longer qualified for the Lapband because my bmi was 1.5 points over the max. No one ever told me there was a max so I was very disappointed. They told me I would be better fit for the sleeve and I should start looking into that. So they made a follow up with the dietitian and another with a dietitian for sleeve diet education. I had an appt with my primary doc who put me on an appetite suppressant which worked great. I lost 14 lbs in 2 weeks. Today I had my follow up with the dietitian which went great for the first half. Then she attacked. She went on and on about how I don't have time for this surgery and because of my work and school schedule there doesn't seem to be much time to make sure I eat right and get to the gym. She said I need to reevaluate life and make myself first. She said maybe after school would be better. I informed her that is two years away. So after 7 months and thousands of dollars later and dozens of appointments she was telling me to give up. I told her I wanted to have the surgery now because I want kids after school and she let me know that I can't have kids until 2 years after the sleeve so I would be well into my 30s before that happened. She said I seems to be doing everything right I just don't have the time. She told me no doc would preform the surgery with a bmi over 45 but no one ever told me that because my bmi hasn't been under 45 in years. She said she was sorry that they lied to me and lead me to believe all of this. I balled right there in her office for 30 mins and I walked out. So here I am still fat, feeling like a failure and no weight loss in sight..... It's been a very bad day.
  8. They tell me I am pretty much done with everything and only have to wait bc there wasn't an opening for the nutrition part. I'm going to call tomorrow and see if there are any openings. I did an EKG, labs, vitamin d, pt, nutrition, etc. my only problem is I'm not losing weight Pre op. I do my fitness pal and it says I dot eat enough calories. Insane
  9. I am a little happy the band didn't happen bc you have to work out 7 days a week and I am in nursing school 25+ hrs a week and work in a hospital 40+ hrs a week. Plus I just hate working out. I have been working towards the sleeve since may and now I feel like I'm starting all over. I have an appt with a dietitian in 2 weeks and a sleeve nutrition class nov 6. I feel like they keep telling me " one more session" and I'm sick of it. And now my surgery will probably not happen before the new year so I'm going to be soooo in debt with a new insurance deductible. How long after the wls team said ok did it take for insurance to approve then how long after that did you all have surgery?
  10. Sooo long story short I was on Tracy for the band but I was 1.5 bmi over the limit and I am gaining weight instead of losing they pretty much rejected me for the band. I'm so upset because they knew what my weight was and didn't tell me I was over for months. So now they tell me it's the sleeve or nothing so now I feel like I'm starting at zero. The sleeve just worries me because it changes my anatomy, it's not reversible, long hospital stay, longer recovery etc. does anyone have any advice or stories they could share good or bad. Thanks
  11. So I had to meet with a dietitian, physical therapy, social worker and surgeon and all of them meet on friday (yesterday) to approve or deny me. No one has called me yet to tell me anything. How long do you usually have to wait? Should I call them?
  12. Was 285 when I started this process and now 292 just 2 months later. Is that going to look bad on me that I'm not talking it seriously? I went on vacation and havnt got to the gym bc of summer classes. The idea of pushing 300 lbs is awful. I have never ever been over 280
  13. Sorry about your appt that sounds terrible. My surgeon was trying to talk me I to the sleeve too. If they think you need to lose anything close to 100lbs then they suggest the sleeve dines its quicker weight lose and alot of problems with the band is you have to work out and some people don't believe you will work hard enough. Think about them both but do what feels right to you.
  14. Can any if you that have been banded eat bread, rice or salads?
  15. I have already done all the testing and stuff. I'm just waiting in approval which they said will come next Friday after they all meet as a group. And I have a one week liquid diet that's all
  16. Havnt been on for a while but I guess I don't have much to say. I find out a week from tomorrow if I'm approved! Excited about that. It seems like this has taken forever and I've only been at it a couple months. Had a dream last night that they called me and asked him I can come in tomorrow to get my Lapband bc they had a cancellation haha. Not sure how long between approve and surgery is. If u can do it first week of aug I can do it until thanksgiving and I'll be sad. Ok well no questions or comments just felt like sharing.
  17. My husband wasn't on board either at first and said it is not needed etc. well come to find out later he just didn't understand the surgery and he was scared so man was going to slice me open
  18. Amazing check list ! Thanks
  19. I went through something similar. I went to a hospital in my town that does the Lapband and filled out all the paper work and the insurance company said no because they weren't as certified as this other hospital 2 hours away. After researching in glad they turned me down bc the hospital I was going to get it down at had only 10 surgeries performed while the one 2 hours a away has done hundreds ever thousands. It all happens for a reason.
  20. So I am finished with all my Pre op stuff and just waiting in approval which will come the last weekend of June. My dietitation wants me to take vit d for 10 weeks and get re tested. This puts me at mid June for the earliest surgery date. My problem is that I work 5 days a week and go to nursing school. Work already told me I can take off whatever time I need but if I miss one day of nursing school I'm kicked out of the program. I'm wondering if once I am approved how much say do I have in my surgery date. Could I move it up to 1st of July or would I just have to wait until thanksgiving break or something.?
  21. My surgeon and dietitian suggested I look into the sleeve instead of the band. I love the idea of the band but now they are making me rethink it. I have about 150lbs to lose to get down to a normal weight for me. They said that much weight rarely happens with the band.
  22. The dietitian said i am eating all the right foods. I eat really healthy 98% of the time. She was shocked on all the fruits an veggies and healthy alternatives I was eating. I rather have veggies than a cupcake anyway. She said I just need to keep doing what I'm doing. I have back problems and I havnt been able to go to the gym like I need but I can't find the motivation.
  23. Well the dietitian was shocked how well I eat. I don't eat fast food. I graze but on fruits and veggies. Salad is my favorite thing. I only eat fat free ice cream, milk, cheese, etc for years. Yes the vitamin d is over the counter. I told her a normal day for me is 2 cups milk and fruit in am, a salad and maybe a sandwich or wrap or soup for lunch and a pasta for dinner. With snacks of tomatoes, carrots and fat free ranch somewhere in there. She was kinda suprised. She said I know about 1800 calories a day. She said if I don't get that my body will have a harder time losing. And with the protein I eat chicken alot but I guess not enough ha.
  24. So maybe I'm just being impatient because i feel like I have been going through this Pre surgery stuff forever. It's only been a month haha. I had my 1st surgeon appt... Passed. Had my psych eval... Passed. Had physical therapy eval... Passed. Tons of labs, EKG, chest X-ray done. Had nutrition eval today and she wants to follow up in 5 weeks!! Ugh that's forever. And she gave me a paper to go get Vitamin d supplements. She asked me what I ate yesterday and based on that she told me I'm not getting nearly enought Protein or Vitamin D and I need to eat MORE calories!!! What!!! Also the dietitian and surgeon and trying to talk me into the sleeve and now I'm second guessing myself. She said I needed to be on the vitamin d supplements for 10 weeks omg! Ughhhh
