  1. I'm 9 1/2 months post op and I still really enjoy my food. I never really lost the hunger feeling but I do get full faster. I agree that you begin to slowly make better food choices as you prioritize getting protein, fiber, and vegetables in. I find myself enjoying cooking. I'm trying out new recipes and like to explore new spices and flavors. I'm still a food addict, but I'm slowly learning to deal with it. What I found great was how my taste buds changed and now I can hardly tolerate fried foods like French fries and can use one teaspoon of sugar in my cup of coffee and find it sweet as opposed to 7 teaspoons Pre-op. You will enjoy food again.

    I was allowed to drink decaf immediately after surgery. Well, within a week, once I was out of the clear liquid stage. I was told to stay away from caffeine, but decaf drinks were okay.
  3. I planned on taking only 2 weeks, but needed an additional week. When I returned to work, I worked two days and then had to take 2 additional days off. The fatique is horrible. I had really bad back pain from the surgery and was extremely sore for about 1 1/2 to 2 weeks. I also have an office job, but I couldn't have returned at 2 weeks mostly because of the fatigue and because my mind was mush. I couldn't concentrate on anything for too long and was mentally out of it/slow for about a month. If you are using FMLA, I would recommend asking the doctor for a 3 week excuse just in case. You can always ask him to sign release to work sooner if you feel well enough to work.

  9. Hi, I'm 3 months post op and have lost a total of 60 pounds, (9 were from the 1 week pre-op liquid diet). I'm wondering if its normal that my weightloss has slowed down so much. I lost about 50 pounds in the first 2 months and have only lost 10 pounds in the last month. I am worried that it will continue to slow. My start weight was 340 and i'm at 280 now, which is great, but i'm worried it'll continue to slow down and I will not continue to lose. I'm starting to recognize between hunger and head hunger and am trying to make healthier choices, but sometimes I stumble. I struggle with recognizing when I'm full and not feeling guilty if anything is left on my plate. Will this get easier? I don't want to stretch my sleeve and am worried I am eating more than I should. Right now, I can eat about 1 egg with about 3/4 piece of toast for Breakfast, about 1 cup of salad with 2 oz of chicken for lunch. Is this typical or am I eating too much? thanks, Johanna
