Cheeseburgers?
Almostthere34 replied to Luckystar12's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Each person is different. I am 7 mos out and I can eat half a burger with bun. The bread fills me up. -

Cheeseburgers?
Almostthere34 replied to Luckystar12's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Ok so all this talk of cheeseburgers has got me craving one. So tonights dinner is Jenny O turkey burgers, 200 cal, 16 grams of protein, 2% american cheese, 45 cal, 4 grams of protein, hamburger bun, 120 cal, 4 grams of protein. I can only eat 1/2 for a total of 183 cal, 12 grams of protein. Probably too many carbs but overall not bad. -
Food addict or totally normal?

Was the gravy on something? Lol. -
No problem. I am 7 mos in and I don't do Chinese much anymore. I eat according to what feels good and rice and pastas fill me up too quickly. If I have Chinese I have teriyaki chicken, no rice. I tried after a few months and it made me sick so I just recently tried it again and it was ok. Head hunger is the worse but it gets better. It gets to a point where you recognize the difference.

Food addict or totally normal?

Not sure but I recall dreaming about a chocolate cake and eating the entire cake. I woke up sad and a feeling a little guilty because it was just a dream. -
Depends on your doctors orders. I would Follow the rules for your safety. My doctor had me on solids week 3. I had to chew really well. Might only be able to get in one shrimp. It was a bit frustrating but I got through it and you will too. Good luck.

Cheeseburgers?
Almostthere34 replied to Luckystar12's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Wow, this is a mess of a thread. This is why I stay off the threads, too much anger and holier than thou Wls patients turned nutritionist. I respect everyone's right to rock their journey their way. I wonder why we can't all have the same level of respect for each other. #very sad. Back to YouTube and fb. -

I confess that for the most part I get in all my Protein daily and all of my Water but at 7 mos out I eat like a regular person. I go out to restaurants and have the cheese burger and fries. I can only eat a couple fries and maybe a fourth of the burger but I feel normal anyway. I worry that that this might be wrong but I like feeling normal. I confess that I believe some people may read this and condemn me. I confess I work out four days a week and feel guilty for dragging my children to gym daycare two days a week in the evening. I confess I feel fabulous and I look it in a size 9/10. I confess I still freak out a little about stalls although at this point I know it happens. I confess that I don't get grossed out when I see people shoveling food in just a little envious, but glad I made my choice. I confess I still eat pizza, just one slice. I make low fat pizza with flat out bread but thin crust papa johns is the best. I confess that at 169 I know maintenance is near and it terrifies me which is why I looking forward to the next stall. -
I am addicted to Zumba. Try it. You will love it.

Almostthere34 replied to cygnusatratus's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I honestly can't remember what size he used. He told me one time. I think it was 40 but not sure. I remember thinking it was pretty large compared to the Mexican docs. In any case I don't think it matters much. I was 171 this morning and will be 7 months tomorrow. He was excellent with me and only made three incisions. I had no gas and never took any pain meds. I left Inova the next day. -

Almostthere34 replied to cygnusatratus's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hey there. I was sleeved by Dr. E too. Congrats on your weight loss. I totally feel you on the stalls. They absolutely defy logic as it relates to the whole calories in, calories burned. I am almost 7 months out and I still can't understand them. In any case get used to them because they happen. I am a pretty average loser and I am used to stalls but it does get better. Apparently it all balances out at about one year post op. I will say this for stalls and slower weight loss and it may be part slow, part genetics but my skin is pretty tight. I have the same regular 35 year old bat wings as opposed to the really noticeable ones. No offense to anyone but I'll take slower if it means tighter elasticity of skin. -
Is "banding" The Sleeve A Common Practice?
Almostthere34 replied to Estrovan's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I don't know if op was sleeved by Dr. E. but I was and he is amazeballs. My surgery was 6.15.12 and I am down 89 lbs. I am at 175 and can't wait to hit goal. My recovery was super easy. Highly recommend. Love his office staff too. -

I take two a day and my labs have come back great at 3 & 6 mos. -
I made a flat out pizza tonight. I couldn't eat it all. Saved half for later. 90 cal low sodium flat out bread, 2% mozzarella cheese, tomato sauce, turkey pepperoni. Very good. There is my contribution. Btw flat out bread has 9 grams of protein. Turkey pepperoni has 9.3 grams of protein. Cheese has 7 grams for a total of 25 grams of protein.

Real Talk, Real Food...

I hated the smell of the powdered protein and could only tolerate the ready made Premier Protein from SAMs. I am glad you.re feeling better. Still not a soup fan some six month later. Be careful of the shots as many are made of collagen protein. We are supposed to do mostly whey Proteins. btw I still dislike broth from those days. -

Ive been cheating on my liquid diet and my surgery is wed :(
Almostthere34 replied to dirby010's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Push it out the next two days and you should be fine. I only had one week liquid and I cheated up until three days before but mostly with meat. I couldn't do just liquid and had jerky and chicken breast. It was fine. My liver shrank. I only needed three incisions and lost 10 lbs. I am pretty sure. Stayed in ketosis. -
Yes or find a thrift shop in an affluent area. It also gets easier to get nice stuff the smaller you get. At least this has been my experience.
