  1. Oh I have a temper and perhaps if the student wasn't in front of me, I may have ripped her two or three new ones, but we must be professional in front of students! Besides ...I had a class to teach...like someone else mentioned..it's hard to fix stupid..LOL.
  2. And btw.. I never get too much air from using a straw. In fact, I asked my nutritionist what was the scientific basis for not using a straw..and she said there was no scientific evidence or studies done on the use of straws and having the sleeve done. It's just a suggestion. Some people gulp air with straws, some don't. I don't, so I use them.
  3. You have no idea just how hard that really was!
  4. Wow..thanks! I never thought of it like that! You made my day!
  5. I have not had a problem with extra gas. Everything was normal for me. As far as fluids, that really isn't that much if you think about it.
  6. I will set the stage. I am teaching a class at work with a fellow employee. This person has not seen me in awhile ...more like a couple of years. I am also mentoring a student from a local university. So..long story short..she didn't recognize me, and when she did...she was shocked to say the least. She, of course, asked THE question...."how'd you lose the weight?" So instead of lying, I told the truth. And the response I get was and I quote, " my mom lost about 100 pounds the RIGHT way through exercise and healthy eating". While I wanted to have fire shoot out of my eyes burn all the hair off her head, I calmly explained that I am doing the RIGHT way through very healthy eating and exercise with the added benefit of built in portion control. What I really wanted to say was, " hey there is no need to be jealous..I know it sucks to be the fat ass in the room now, but hey you can go lose weight the RIGHT way too". Alas, I thought better of it, took the high road, and almost bit my tongue in half. I just calmly explained the fallacy of her thoughts in a calm, non-demeaning manner. In other words, I showed this person a lot more respect than she showed me. Oh well...look out...your ignorance is showing!
  7. I have officially reached the century club! I plan on posting pictures at my 6 month surgery anniversary which will be October 3rd. If anyone is contemplating surgery or getting ready to have this surgery, I would say do it. Yes, it is hard. Yes, you must commit to the whole process. Yes, there are always setbacks, but isn't that what life is about? It is these experiences that make us stronger as individuals. Did I have complications ? Yes while my team felt it was minor ( a small hematoma), it hurt like hell for 2 months, but I prevailed. What has change for me? I no longer have prediabetes or high blood pressure. Alas, I have high cholesterol still, but mine is a genetic condition having 2 of 3 genetic markers for heart disease. As an aside note, the Boston Heart Lab checks for this if you are interested in your own makeup. So as for the cholesterol, well..some cards you are dealt you can't change, but you can manage them more easily with this surgery...exercise, diet, and medication. The nice part is that I have freedom. I can do things now without thinking. For example, table or booth? Who cares, I fit in both! Daughter has a function at school in the auditorium? No problem...sit where you like...you'll fit. Amusement park you say? Sure...I love to ride! Oh no...can I fit? You betcha I can! Plane ride? I have myself covered...no extra fees or seat belt extender for me! Anyway...I am on my way. My journey is only at my half way point. I still have a long road ahead, but I will only go forward, one foot in front of the other until I reach my destination. Until then, I have you all as company. Thank you for your support. You all will never know how much it is greatly appreciated and definitely part if my continued success! Each and every one of the people who respond to my posts, I thank you...positive or negative..I know that I have a band of sleeve family out there to support or give me a dose of reality...see it really is like a family..good and bad. I feel like a caterpillar in my cocoon not ready to emerge yet, just still transforming into a butterfly. One day, I will emerge and be as beautiful on the outside as I feel on the inside!
  8. Tell her her prayers for healing, comfort, and happy thoughts are on the way! Congrats in the surgery! I'll dust her off a seat on the loser's bench!
  9. Looked at the picture enlarged..yep..that's a people of Wal-Mart picture. I am beginning to think people dress nutty on purpose to get their 15 seconds of fame on that site.
  10. WTH...did you lift that off the people of Wal-Mart site? Wow...that is disturbing!
  11. That's pretty awesome! I only lost 26# my first month. I am 5 1/2 months out and down 99#. It will come! Remember...it didn't take over night or even 1 month to put on weight...it will take some time. It sounds as if you are doing the things you need to do. Keep up the great work!
  12. Just thought of another song: Skrillex's Bangerang..or really anything Skrillex puts out is very upbeat.
  13. No..we do not talk funny..you do! LOL..and yes in the Southern dialect, y'all is a word!
  14. No! I am from Tennessee and talk funny too! LOL
  15. I detest whiney people who use grammar incorrectly.
  16. I like Black Eye Pea's Boom Boom Pow. I'll add that to my list.
