Do You Drink Milk?
Milk is good for you! Remember those sugars are naturally occurring sugars (it not like you are eating a candy bar every night), and your body does require carbs to function. Everything in modration will help keep everything in balance. You are lucky you can drink milk at all- a lot of people become intolerant of milk (I'm super glad I'm not one of them, though). One glass of milk at night is not going to sabotage your surgery. The fact that you are so aware of what you are eating and what is in the food will only help ensure your success! Keep up the great work!

Tsa Experience
I flew from Michigan to Minnesota this past week and after my X-ray, they took me aside and the attendant, very professionally and appropriately used her palm to search my abdominal area. Now I know that anyone for any number of reasons can be searched after being scanned but I couldn't help but wonder to what degree do these machines X-Ray you and did they see something "weird" (like most of my stomach missing) or something that prompted the mini search. I was not offended nor am I paranoid; really more curious than anything. Anyone "professional" flyers or work at airports that have a guess, or do you think it truly was just random? If I hadn't had surgery I wouldn't have thought anything of it at all, but now post surgery things make me go... hmmmm?. The best part was that I wasn't anxiety ridden over the idea of someone touching my abdominal area and thinking that oh gosh, they are going to feel all of my fat rolls, since I hardly have any anymore!! Hahaha!!

David Smith ("650 Lb. Virgin") On Today Show
The concept of really being READY for such a dramatic weight loss and way of life is critical! I watched my sister go through WLS and 3 years later hasn't made significant progress. She's back to her pre-surgery justifications for eating and lack of exercise. And now, while I know she loves me and supports me, is jealous of my success- which is furthing her self-sabotaging behavior. So I love and understand when David's girlfriend says, "this is the moment I've been waiting for." in the meantime I'm standing by my sister, but I can't wait for the moment that she's really ready!

True and very funny!- Is "banding" The Sleeve A Common Practice?
Hmmm. I've not heard of this, either. Kind of a cool idea if it keeps your food in a little longer for a feeling of being full longer. Curious to see what others have to say about this!- Water Retention
Ugh is right. Thanks for the update. I'm making an appointment in the next week or so. If I get any different advice i'll let you know!- July 4Th Challenge

- The Nastiest Stuff I Have Ever Put In My Mouth
OH! That was SO VERY VERY VERY BAD!. I had had a rough night of nausea anyway, but then a major break through and I felt great! Took a sponge bath, did my walking and could hold a nice conversation with a smile on my face (can't do that stuff when I'm on the edge of yakking non-stop). Then they came for me and my leak test. Knew it would taste bad, but was looking forward to ICE CHIPS!! Couldn't have anything for the past 12 hours, at that point. OH, it was so much worse than I thought it would be and I ended up throwing it up, right then and there! Thank goodness for a quick nurse and baggie!! I think I'd die if I had to do that again! Laughing my butt off thinking back to that, now. It was almost 9 weeks ago and seems like I'm a lifetime away from that!! Cheers!- Sleeved On 5/17...what Else Can I Eat Sooo Sick Of The Protein Shakes!
At 8 days post I was eating the seasoning packets from Ramon Noodle soup, and Protein drinks. I tried to strain a chicken noodle soup and it hit my intestinal track hard! So I backed off to more of the bouillon-world. SF Jello saved me! :-D Good luck!- Memorial Day Challenge!
SW: 195 GW: 181 (originally was hoping for a 14 pound loss; 2 pounds per week) CURRENT: 178 GOAL SURPASSED -much to my delight. Can't wait to see what one more week brings! :-D- Yes! Now I Can Breathe
Congrats!!! Looking forward to sharing the Loser's bench with you!!- First Ever Nsv Only 6 Days Out From Surgery!
OH! That was a good one for me too - same thing with edema and heal spurs!! I can wear my sandals all day long on my feet teaching! And I bought my first pair of pretty shoes in more than a decade - I feel your joy!! Keep it up!- Im 26 And Im Rocking My Sleeve
My first goal is to join a gym (will do on June 1). Next goal - When I get into the 160's I'm getting a pedicure. Final goal - After I reach goal I'd like a face and breast lift!- Sleeving And Alcohol
Congrats on 2 years sober!! I am certainly no expert, but most people seem to find relief, at least to an extent, for their constant hunger. I was a food addict and I think the very long (8weeks) of not having any food that wasn't liquid or pureed has helped me break the head hunger. It is very common that people will transfer their food addiction, though. Similarly the way that you shifted from alcohol to food. You may want to prepare in advance with a support group - like this one!! And meeting group or therapist to support you through this. My sister went through wls and became addicting to shopping - a very expensive habit!! She has joined a support group and is back on track. Some transfer their addiction to exercise - as long as you don't become obsessive/compulsive with it, that could be a good transfer!! Welcome and best of luck!!- Water Intake.
ForMyFamily - I'm the same way. I used to say I was a water-aholic. All post-op results are different for people, but for me it actually changed the way that Water TASTES. Seriously. It's like it leave an aftertaste and it doesn't matter if it is tap, filtered, purchased, etc. Water tastes funny so I don't reach for it like I used to. I'm now one of those people that has to remind myself to drink water. Also the sheer quantity. I was such water guzzler. I could just tip up a bottle and down 16-20ounces. Now I have to sip and I hate it. It's the only think that causes me pain (very short-lived). I really don't think it's like this for everyone - this is just my experience and probably the only thing I really miss- Question
Maybe caused by acid reflux? Are you on an antacid like Nexium or anything?- Too Thin...ha?!
My starting weight was 218 and I'm down to about 179-ish. Almost 40 pounds in 8 weeks. I wouldn't consider that slow - but you will (as everyone does) go through stalls. I had one at week 3 then again week 7 (I'm just now coming out of it). Eat right and move and the weight will come off. Best of luck to you and I bet your husband comes around. Tell him to come to support group meetings and post nutrition classes with you. Bring him into the fold and educate him. He'll come around.- Water Retention
I just had the same thing happen to me this past Friday and Saturday and I'm 8 weeks post op! I'm getting my fluids in too. I was so bummed because swollen ankles and calves was a real pain for me pre surgery and when all that edema went down that first week I spent a good portion of my time just staring at me feet and ankles! I hope this is just a short phase!- Real Food - Yay!
Good for you! My head hunger came and went. I think only 3 or 4 times I can distinctly recall kind of bummed that I COULDN'T eat something. Thanks Lissa! You are such a regular inspiration to me! I started my Couch to 5K today because you make working out sound like so much fun! Thanks for your constant support! Thanks! I will. So far Water is the hardest thing for me to take slow - oh! And remembering to not drink while I eat. That's a toughy!- 8 Days Out Of Surgery, Ready To Take On The World.
My surgery went so good, I almost felt guilty. I was nauseous for about a day and a half, then never again. I was walking a mile then two within a couple days of surgery. If I overdid it, then I took a pain pill and a nap. But pain pill usage was very minimal. Don't hurry through your food stages and enjoy the ride. I'm 8 weeks post op and have lost almost half of my excess weight! Good luck!! - Dr. Oz... So Happy With My Choice
